Alright internet detectives, what do we think...5lbs? Maybe 6?

Seems like Santa needs to get this guy some new scale batteries. 😉

Gorham man catches state-record bass

Local fisherman T.J. Couture of Gorham hauled in a huge bass last week that weighed in at 13.5 pounds.

Hahaha that is the result of an angler who has never used a scale and a writer who has never used a fishing rod. That writer should be embarrassed.

The same thing happened in my state a couple years ago before the state record was actually broken recently. This guy claimed to have caught a 12 pound largemouth but released it and never got it verified but he has a photo! The fish was maybe 4 or 5 pounds lol!

I’ve seen @Mainebass1984 catch bass from that state that would eat that one for breakfast.

"When asked if the reporter has ever been fishing, they replied, "yes, my grandpa used to take me down the fish tank aisle at Walmart."

13.5, I don't think so! 6 or so, maybe. What does Katie @Swamp Girl think?

I think she might hit six, but is probably five pounds and change.

Given the head to body size ratio and how thin the body looks, this looks like ole boy caught the oldest gal in a starved out pond. I'd be surprised if this fish breaks the 4.5 pound mark.

Fishing Math 101 teaches us to double the weight, and then add 20% for the story, right? Especially if you're calling the local TV station. 🤣

The bass on the right is just 13 pounds, half a pound "lighter" than the Maine bass:

Who knew that a 13-pounder could swallow a 13.5-pounder?

Lol!!! They did the same thing last year in Vermont with the Smallmouth. It wasn't even 4lbs and the dude said it was 7. His buddies even called ot out and the state kept promoting it.

Maybe the scale was set to kilograms instead of pounds.

Waste of time.

Guess it won't be fishing if there weren't a few good fish stories mixed in.

Just for reference, here's a bass that weighed a mere 11 lbs.

A complete dink, really.

But I do know that she was weighed & measured a couple of times.

And as always with most all my catches, there's video evidence.

All something the OP 13 lb bass seems to be lacking.

Oh, along with any credibility, of course.
