  1. Ok guy's it seems there is not much interest in going to a meet and greet here at lake Anna. We need a couple more boaters yet, hopefully a few will step up here. We are going to let you in on a little secret we have been keeping, we were hoping to spring it on you guys when we all got there. We have some support from our sponsors here on this site that are willing to donate their products as door prizes at the end of the day, among these sponsors we have the following: Seibert Outdoors Bass Angler Magazine JJ's Magic And our very own Bass Resource We have been in contact with these sponsors and they have been generous enough to give their products to pass out as door prizes at the end of the day, one special person that deserves a ton of thanks in helping out with this matter is Traveler. Eric, we can not thank you enough for the support you have given, your help with this has been instumental and outstanding to say the least. Each one of these sponsors have gone above and beyond the simple things we asked for to help make this day the best it can be, their generosity has been second to none. Mark at Bass Angler Mag, Mike at Siebert Outdoors, JJ of JJ's Magic, Glenn and Kari of Bass Resource have been wonderful to work with during this time and we can not thank them enough, not only for being sponsors and web site host's, but for being some of the most awesome individuals we have had the pleasure of working with and talking too. Without these sponsors and without this website, this may never have been possible, we have plans for making this an annual event, with more plans to make these outings a more family oriented outing in the future. This annual event we hope will make some new friends, and we will all be able to learn and teach a thing or two along the way, in the future Zoff and I have tossed around a few ideas to make this thing better, fishing for the children with games and prizes included for even the youngest of anglers to the oldest of anglers is just one of the many. So now it's up to you all, this is one of the prime times of fishing Anna, the fish are starting to migrate toward the back of the creeks there and some will be shallow by the time we get there, top water action will be at it's best during the darker hours of the day and will start to progress through out the days as they start to get shorter, just about everything you have in your tackle box has the chance to land a monster, road beds, bridges, rock piles, and shallow structure and cover that have deep water access will once again be active when we take off, so you may as well come with us and have some fun !!!
  2. Ok then, if you feel that is fair then all we can do is say thank you very much !!! As for the table cloths, I would say two should be enough unless we get an explosion of people near the meet date then we will regroup and see who is bringing what again. Sam, Just bring the covered dish and not worry about the dry goods then, sounds like Traveler has us taken care of with that, thank you for the offer !!!
  3. As for the beer it is up to all of you. I will tell you this much, it's not allowed at the park anywhere, I have had one in my hands before there and have been surprised by the law enforcement, we were not raising hell and I treated him with respect, I think may have been the reason he did not say anything but he had me sweating bullets. Not all officers have the same mentality, they have a job to do, and that job is to enforce the law. I would say you do this at your own risk, and if you do, you had better have control over how much you drink, we will have youngsters there, if you have been drinking, you should step up and exercize a designated driver. I am not trying to sound like an ass about it, but this is supposed to be a fun and safe trip for all, all I ask is that you are able to be aware of your surroundings and be an adult with it. I have said "I" because that is my opinion on the matter.
  4. Sam, We would be grateful if you could supply the plates and plastics, thank you very much !!! Traveler, As far as chips and dip, my suggestion would be Doritos and maybe some plain chips with some sort of dip, maybe french onion dip if you do not mind, thank you very much as well !! I will bring an extra cooler to put drinks in too.
  5. Good idea, for those who wish to keep their fish and have for supper, go for it !!! I don't mind cooking it for someone if they so desire. Side note: They call it one fish Anna for a reason, you may be hungry when you get back...just sayin LOL !!!
  6. Not denying that fact brother, Gordon is a great Chef, I love his shows, I think the F word is a part of their everyday conversations and must be used at least 3 times in every sentence or no one understands each other...either that or they just like being bleeped on TV. Just mess'in with ya, Mack and cheese is always a great dish and I look forward to scarfing some of it down with ya !!
  7. By the way, my family is coming, I will have my wife, youngest Daughter, and possibly her boy toy, I also have a good friend that may join us with his girlfriend, he has a tournament that day over there but should be back by the time we are, I know he will help if asked. Anyone looking for a Cornhole partner? my good friend will be the one to ask, Hint !!! my lil baby girl is going to be my partner.

Hey just bring a dish of your favorite side...something or other. While Zoff works on that page I will help out and reiterate the latest, Meet at 6 am at the State Park boat launch to draw for partners... from a hat or a bowl or from a pocket or something. At 7 am WE RIDE !!!!! At 4 or 5 pm we meet back at the State Park to see who gets the bragging rights for what, AND THEN (we can't tell you yet, it's a secret !!!!) but after that we go play some cornhole, drink some and be merry, while Zoff Cooks all the meat HA !! I LOVE IT !!! Don't worry buddy, I got a griddle that will work out pretty well for this occasion, I might even let you use it !! HA HA !! Just kidding I am cooking too... I will be the one in my Emeril Luggasee...I don't think thats spelled right...ah who cares, cooking smock, BAM !!! holding a Budweiser.
  13. Oh yea !! If you see something like that, dont just fish it one time, poke the living crap out of the area, it's possible there is more than one, don't be afraid to change it up a litlle too on the same spot if the bite turns off, or your not getting anything. This is how you learn, fish it fast, slow, and everything in between untill you get a reaction, remember what you did to get that reaction and apply it to the next log or whatever you are fishing, if it works again you have established a pattern, and a technique to use.
  14. Nope !! All looks to be in order sir, Thanx buddy !!!
  15. For all who are following this, we could use another boater or two if you are interested, it's going to be a ton of fun !!!
  16. Zoff, Can you please add Endless and Eddie to the non boater list for us !!! Eddiie, Glad you can make it we look forward to meeting you !!! Will you be joining us for the cook out?
  17. Man, I did not know bass could read, I am going to start writing "EAT ME" on my lures LOL !! or you think that might be a not so good idea? Lots of great advice from all, I would like to suggest the same, A deep water edge along a grass line will prove to be your best areas to fish, I have found this to be productive no matter the plant life, grass, lilly's or otherwise, as long as it can provide nutrients the fish require, they will most always be there.
  18. Just keep in mind, Safety, without a trolling motor as a means of secondary propulsion, your primary is dependant on the engine for propulsion, should you loose that engine, you should have a plan for being able to get to shore for some help. Lots of great advice has already been given, take your time and take it all in, enjoy your time on the water wether or not you catch fish and learn from the lake, she will give back if you treat her right.
  19. Sam, Thats great news, we look forward to meeting you both, I will send you a PM on the dish.
  20. If it shows the bottom then you are looking at structure, structure is the bottom conture of a body of water, or a piece of land, cover is anything that lays on top of the structure, rock piles , brush piles etc... if you see a super quick rise then a drop, yes it could be a hump but it also indicates it could be an old creek bed or a ridge, fishing that area with a jig or a C-rig will help you determine what the area could be by giving you feedback, it may even be a large rock, you know from fishing from shore what most of these feel like I am sure. Don't pass up the opportunity to fish things of that nature from all different angles and see what you can learn from it.
  21. Good question and one you will get a ton of different opinions on !!! As far as lay downs are concerned, no matter the age, the way I always approach them is to work them from the outer most parts and work my way in, it does help if they have branches going every which way and it does help if they have been there a while, the more branches it has the more cover it will provide for bait fish, the longer it's been there the more algae it will have for the food source to attract bait fish. Look for something different in the lay down, maybe a branch that is at a 45 degree angle compaired to the rest of the lay down will also key you in on where they could be in that tangeled mess of timber. Maps, they are your best friend without electronics, what I look for on maps are humps, drop off's, feeder creeks, and structure in general, a lot of maps will show you general depths but not all maps are accurate, so be really careful when you are checking out new areas, one of the key things I look at on a map is points, How long are they?, the longer the better, do these points offer some steeper drop offs with some wide flats as you move along the point? fish will often stage on these flats and or shelves, especially if it has a little grass or a stump or two, I also look for multiple points, places where a body of water will split into two different sections and go seperate ways, like a Y shape, the point of the Y shape will be the "highway" if you will for the fish to travel as they make their way to and from areas that they will frequent. There are so many "keys" when reading a map, the only way to really understand what your map is telling you is to be on the water a lot. There is no way of knowing what an area holds from just looking at a map, electronics will help you understand some of these things in time, but a map will be one of the best tools you can have once you understand and learn what a map can provide. Take your time, fish each area to the best of your abilities, make notes, and mark these areas where you have caught fish and mark areas that continuously produce fish, those areas will provide clues as to what structure fish use to navigate and ambush prey. Don't be afraid to get off the banks and into open water if a map shows a little hump or a sudden change in structure, you will soon find out these areas are also fish magnets and can produce some good quality fish in numbers and in size. It is going to take time on the water, patience will be key in how well you understand what a map has to offer. Good luck and be safe !!!
  22. Traveler, Thank you for putting in the info we needed, AWESOME JOB !!!! Man the closer this gets the more excited I get !!!! This is shaping up to be a lot of fun, we have a chance to meet some really good people here and have a blast on top of it !!! Not only are we going to have some fun, but we have support from a few of our sponsors here as well to help out, we cant wait for the afternoon events, they are going to be almost as fun as the fishing !!!
  23. LMAO !!!!!!!!! I thought about putting something in there to make someone think that way LOL... but I see I did not need it HA HA HA !!! It's a fun game, I hope we get a few who will play.
