  1. X2 Sometimes I will add a couple of chart strans to my jigs, my most common colors are the same as WRB's As WRB said it best, no one but you will find the right combo, buy it, fish it, fix it, fish it again.
  2. When I started I had it all wrong when I got to the boat, Brian hit the nail on the head in my opinion but the vids are awsome advice as well. I did a couple of things that I still do today just to keep practicing. 1 I stand on the seating area of a picnic table, I used to step forward just like you did in the vid, all that did was raise my trajectory and rock the boat at the same time. It looks like much farther than any 10 feet, and it is, if you count how many times you crank that handle, you need to work different distances if you wish to get proficient at pitching and flipping, not all of your pitching is going to be long distance and your flipping will definatly not be. 2) As far as targets are concerned I started with a 5 gal bucket as suggested, but I then moved to other targets, pcv pipe, and worked my way smaller to coffee cups, one rod one reel is dedicated to my pitching, I use a longer rod to get the maximum pendulum motion I can get without having to move much at all. Practice as much as you wish to in your yard it does help a good bit, but nothing beats being on your boat, work it as much as you can when you get the chance to be out there. Good luck and be safe !!!
  3. We went out again on Sunday and I had the privilage to fish with Traveler while my family fished from my boat, we fished a hump first and Traveler caught one on a drop shot on top of the hump and a second one in the back of the creek we fished. My youngest daughter caught 4 and I would like to share those with you also. I did not bring a camera to show Travelers fish but both were in the 2lb range. All smiles, luv ya lil baby girl !!!
  4. Hey everybody !!! We just got done with our first meet and greet here in Va. at a very windy but still beautiful Lake Anna this past weekend. We met a great group of people that had a blast fishing on Saturday. I met Traveler, Zoff, Aj, Steve Castel, Endless, Sam, Chris, I had the chance to fish with Traveler, but I wish I could have fished with all of them, now that we have met I look forward to more opportunities to do just that. The lake was rather windy with 30mph gust's but that did not keep us from fishing at all. We headed out at 7am and fished until 4pm then had a cookout afterwards. Some of the highlights of the day from my boat, and I hope others will show their pics and stories from the day, but I started out heading down lake to fish dike 3 as soon as we got to open waters the lake just kept getting rougher and rougher, by the time I reached my destination the waters were already white capping from the wind, I knew the return ports from the nuke plant were already going to be rough but the wind made it even more difficult, so we opted to head to the other side, better safe than sorry, so we fished some of the wind blown points and rocky banks with spinners and cranks or anything we could try and keep in contact with, by 8:30 my trolling motor batteries had all but given up, boat control was really tough, and it was getting unsafe to continue fishing, so we packed up and headed up lake to find some better fishing if we could. The first contact with other people from the group came from Traveler, he had Aj and his Father Steve on the boat with him, so we motored over to see how they were getting along, it seems that Senko's were working pretty well for them and Steve had landed a couple of nice bass already, while we were taliking I had noticed there was a fishing line entangeled with Travelers boat, Traveler raised his engine and we found it was tangeled around his prop, the line was from a fishing rod that someone had put out for catfish it had a hot dog slice attached for bait, as I worked the entangelment free the line suddenly unraveled itself and the hook caught my index finger, fortunately it only penetrated about an inch and came back out, glad I keep a first aid kit on the boat !! They were up 3 to 2 on us we eneded up with a total of 4 on the day but wait until you see the monsters we had in the boat !! So my daughters boyfriend and I headed around the corner to fish some grass and some small cover, we found a pattern that started working for us, spinners just along the outside of the grass line gave us two more in a small cove, but my trolling motor batteries had nothing left to offer and even the smallest breeze, we could no longer handle, so we packed up and headed for the launch to retrieve another battery that I had to borrow from my camper, by this time we were running out of time to fish some other areas that we would have liked to fish, so we took a shorter route to see if we could get lucky enough and find them on some deeper stumps but yet again the wind kept us from being able to do that too, we continued on into the cove we were in and just finished out the day and ran into a second pairing of guys, Sam and Endless, when I asked Sam how many he replied 10 with one nice one Endless had caught, he then asked me how many we caught, I replied 50, have you ever experienced that moment of silence when your not sure of what to say or how to respond, imagine that moment and the look on their faces before I told them, na just kidding only 2, bass that was, we had 4 total. That was pretty much how our day went but it was a total blast inspite of all the troubles. And now for the fun part, This was Friday night before the tournament of fun on Saturday, this was close to 4lbs, I pulled it out behind a lay down using a Siebert Outdoors 1/2oz jig that I put a little bit of chart in the skirt, the skirt was black with some browns mixed in, I had to have the wife double check the scale since I did not have my specticals with me. Here is my daughters boyfriend with his first bass of the day, we did not use a scale but I am guessing about a pound to a pound and a half, but just wait until you see the monsters he caught earlier that day !!!!! This is me holding a 2lb beautiful large mouth bass, isn't she pretty !!! And now ladies and gentelmen, as promised, the 2 most amazing fish you will ever lay your eyes on !!!! TAAAAAAAAAAA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!! Did we not have fun or what !!!! WWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE DOGGIEEEEEEEEEE !!!!
  5. I look forward to finding that out sometime at one of your local lakes, I would prefer SML but as long as we are getting a line wet and we can down a few beers afterwards I really do not care buddy !!! Zoff, I really enjoyed having you over at the campsite chatting with the family Friday night, you are a lot of laughs yourself and a stand up kind of guy that I have a lot of respect for, although my posts may not reflect that, we have the same views and thoughts about a lot of things especially when we speak of family, we have had a lot of conversations in the past few weeks only to find out that we have a ton in common with one another. The job you have should key you in real quick as to whom you allow yourself to trust, even just a little, I do not take that lightly either or trust me, you would have never been allowed to meet my family. I look forward to our next adventure, either a fishing trip with the families or just a day on the lake, I also look forward to helping out with the next meet and greet, oh yes, there will be another one.
  6. Nice job Traveler !!! Really nice shot of Steve Castel and his fish !!! The cook out pictures are pretty good ones too !!!
  7. I am suprised you get a word in edgewise LMAO !!!! Just kidding, just kidding, glad you enjoyed yourself !!!!!!
  8. Awesome !!!! We look forward to doing this again and I hope you will join us for the next one. Thanx Chris !!!
  9. These are from the day after but I wanted to share them with you because they have my little baby girl in them. Traveler and I went out and my boat had my wife, my daughter and my daughters boyfriend on it, Traveler and I fished a couple of places and my daughter challanged us to a tourny. Traveler and I started fishing a hump in Contrary Creek, we struck first with a bass about a pound and a half he had caught off of a drop shot rig on top of the hump, me I just struck out, I do not have any pics with Traveler but we did have some fun fishing together, he later caught one in the back of Contrary Creek just a touch bigger roughly I would say about 2lbs, that one came off of a spinner bait. This is my little baby girl whoopin daddy's butt. I may have took an a## whippin but hey, all I can say to that is...Daddy luv's ya baby !!!!
  10. This one was from Friday night, pitched a 1/2oz Seibert Outdoors jig with a touch of chart with some black and green pumkin with a Biffle bug as a trailer behind a log, never felt the hit, all I had seen was the line moving, right at 4lbs, my scale is not digital so I had to get my wife to help me double check what I was seeing since I did not have my specticals on. This Chris my youngest daughters boyfriend, the fourth fish for the day, he had earlier caught 2 really beautiful fish but we will get to that in a moment, no scale, just guessed at about a pound and a half, give or take. This was our third fish for the day, that's me holding a huge beautiful 2lb bass, isn't she pretty !!! again no scale so 2lbs give or take. OK are you all ready for the next two? Warning what you are about to see is two giant fish that may make your eyeballs hurt !!!...they certainly made mine hurt !! Keep in mind we did not use scales so I am just guessing here at roughly 9 to 10 lbs each. TAAAAAAAAAAAAAA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!! Or I could be just B.S'ing too LOL !!! BUT JUST LOOK AT THEM BAD BOYS DO THEY LOOK FUN OR WHAT !!!!
  11. Well? What can I say, I had a great time meeting everybody. The first one I met was Traveler, Right from the get-go, one of the most interesting people I think I have ever met, always smiling, always friendly, full of stories that I love listening too, he told me the story of the reasoning behind his handle and thought I was going to LMAO !!! gophers and cubicles, almost sounds like a TV commercial. We had not talked 5 minutes and already he gave me something from his house that him and his wife thought would be a nice gift and sure enough it was, the gift is one thing that Traveler and his wife will most likely not think was much at all, but to be thought of was more important than the gift and I would like to thank you both for each. The next one I met was Zoff, hhhhmmm, what do I say about Zoff? well?...hhhhmmmm, got to be one of the most wired up people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, I thought I was wired, wait till you meet this guy !!! Zoff, you have got to be one of the most outgoing, laid back people I have ever met, I do not think you nor I have ever met a stranger, our first meeting was like this, Hello Sonny it's nice to finally meet you, Here have a beer !!! Now how can you not like a guy like that !!! We are going to have to work on getting you a more refined pallet though my friend, LOL !! The next ones came in a pair, Aj and Steve, We did not get to talk too much at all but I could tell you two are a class act, really nice people that I hope to someday meet again and soon...hopefully you will let me try out some of that equiptment you guys had there LOL !!! The next pair was Sam and Endless, Sam I have to say I wish we could have spoken a little more, you have a great sence of humor and you started our day off with a few laughs, what better way to start and end a day, good job finding some fish, I think your boat outfished us all, congrats !!! I would also like to say congrats on getting Endless to smile for a photo, that is a feat all in itself LOL !! Endless, what a great guy and also funny as well, you caught the largest fish of the day, we had something weird going on though, it seems the larger fish had no weight and the smaller fish had more weight, I don't know what the heck was up with that but it definately was weird, hey buddy congrats on big fish and I was happy to see you smiling !!! Chris, I don't know if you had fun or not you were one of those quiet kind of guys, you said you did, but you did not say too much so I hope you really did, I was looking forward to having a conversation with you but everything ended as quickly as it started, I hope we can meet again sometime and have that conversation and do a little fishing too !! There will be pics for everyone to see from the trip so stay tuned, but I have to agree, the wind there was terrible, at 7am the lake was already white capping down by the dam, and by 8:30 both of my trolling motor batteries were already all but dead, I headed there to fish an old road bed and some bowling ball size rocks, but with the current coming from dike 3's return port and the 30mph winds I knew that was going to be impossible, so my daughters boyfriend Chris and I tried the rocks over in Valentine cove and had no luck there with anything, that we could keep in contact with, Finess baits would have been pretty tough, then we tried the stumps that were just on the other side and the long point just before that but we just had too many issues holding the boat and almost ran aground several times, so we headed back up lake and found Traveler with Aj and Steve, they were having some ok luck with Senko's but as I had approached Traveler's boat I had seen he was tangled in a line a from a rod off of the near by deck, as I untangled the line that was wrapped around the prop, the line suddenly came loose and the hook caught my left index finger...SON OF A !!!!, oh well nothing a band-aid did not take care of, Chris and I headed around the bridge at Christopher Run and went back into the cove that had some grass and some small lay downs and we found a pattern we could work with, they were hitting spinners off of the edges of grass, we landed two, one about a pound and a half and the other about two pounds, and just wait until you see the other two he had caught, MONSTERS I TELL YOU !! By the time we worked that cove, my trolling motor batteries were completly gone, we had to stop fishing and go back and retreive a battery from my camper, there went 45 minutes of the day, so we decided to go over to another creek and finish out the day, I tried to fish the point at the entry, it has a few stumps there that I usually get some pretty good bites but no luck, the wind just kept pushing us well away from where we needed to be, then we found Sam and Endless in the same cove, so we had a small conversation of having any luck?, Sam replies, yes we caught 10 with one good size one Endless had caught, and then he asked me the same question, my reply we caught 50, now you can imagine what Sam and Endless thought at that moment, let me tell ya their facial expressions said it all, YOU GUYS CAUGHT 50? Sam, a "one fish Anna" patriarch almost believed I think that we actually caught 50 fish for maybe a second and then asked, really? No just kidding, only 2 buddy LOL !!! We were going to do the cook out at the park but the wind would just not let up enough to allow us to do that, so we went back to Travelers camp and had the cook out, he had the best site with hardly any wind, I cooked and Traveler and Zoff gave away the prizes we had recieved from our sponsors. Seibert Outdoors gave us NOT ONE, which is all we asked for, but 6 jigs, I did manage to get a look at these jigs when they arrived at my house, I have to tell you guys I wanted to fish these jigs on Friday so bad I could not stand it !!! Mike at G-Man jigs, It was an amazing thing you did for us, we can not thank you enough for pitching in and helping us out with this, your jigs looked absolutly amazing and if any of you guy's and gal's out there have any questions about jigs, I can promise you that Mike is amazing to work with and will be more than happy to hook you up with a product that is in my opinion second to none, he has some really cool cosmic trailers that he uses and sells on his site as well, He has a slew of different varities and colors to choose from and he is even willing to help you make the right choice for your needs, JUST ASK HIM, you will see the difference !!! Mark at Bass Angler Magizine, Dude your Mag looks so AWESOME !!! Guy's and gal's this guy gave away a FREE one year subscription to his magizine, and Mark we can not thank you enough either, what you did was equaly amazing, this magizine from front to back is packed with info that will help us all become better fisherman and women, the best part about this Mag is that it is packed, each one has 30 or more articals to help even the experienced angler become better at their trade, 30 articals, thats a ton of stuff !!! The major difference that makes this mag stand out from the rest is that they are not selling you their advertisers products, they research and write important information about products that have been proven to help you catch bass !!! You all should visit both of their web sites and take a look at what they have to offer, you won't be dissapointed !!! Glenn and Keri, of our Bass Resource Thank you both for helping us out and sending us the Bass Resource stickers... I am going to put them on my boat or my truck I have not figured out which yet, maybe one each,... the line conditioner you sent was an AWESOME gift and you sent a ton of it, enough for everyone to have at least two bottles, that is a HUGE donation there was enough stuff for everyone to be able to have multiple items to take back home with them. Traveler, You added to the list by bringing your hand made gifts of spinners and buzz baits and just freely gave them away, and as many as we wanted too !! They are awesome, I tried mine the next morning, I used the Fire Tiger spinner you picked out for me as I was cooking and fished a lay down, on the very second cast, wham!! I landed a small one but still a fish from a bait made by someone I am happy to call a friend. Traveler, you are a truly remarkable guy, meeting you this weekend and having the chance to fish with you from your boat was one of the best times I have had in a long time. Thank you for everything everybody, it was a ton of fun and I hope and look forward to doing it again !!!! One more person left to thank, I want to thank my wife for helping with everything, she loves to fish and she knew there was room on my boat to go fishing, yet she stayed behind and took care of getting the food and what we needed for the cook out. I love ya baby !!! Keep an eye out for all the pics everybody !!!
  12. What a great idea !!! Come on guy's you know you wanna !!!

  16. To be honest here too Eddie, we were really hoping for more boaters, I wish you guys would change your minds and come join us, we are willing to do whatever it takes to get you all some time on the water and have some fun with us. You guys are still welcome to come join us for the cook out if you wish, I know it's a good trip just for some food but it should still be a lot of fun, don't forget your families are invited too !! It is very noble of both of you to give up your seats for others, we understand how you feel and we regret deeply that you won't make this trip, we were looking forward to meeting you both but should we not meet this time around there will be a next time. Eddie and Jspoon, thank you both for what you are doing, we hope you have a great weekend and we will take some pics for you guys, we want to see pics from you all as well. Good luck and be safe !!!
  17. If you can get the Redskins cheerleaders to come that would be good !!!!
  18. Sam, There are picnic tables at the state park with a picnic area, I am bringing a large folding table just incase we should need one but I do not think we will. If you need to save the cups etc...Traveler has already made plans to supply the dry goods, he will not have anything to keep any food fresh so he asked to supply those for us, but thanx for the offer !! Just bring whatever your wife wishes to offer and we will be good to go buddy !!! See ya Saturday morning !!!!
  19. I imagine that was some fun !!! Really good job guys !!!
  20. Ok guys, it's Monday and I do not see any questions. I assume everyone knows the in's and out's of what is going on. Saturday the 22nd We meet at 6am, hand over the money for the cook out, go over the map if we need to, pair up our fishing partner's, and launch by 7am. Fish until 4pm and meet back at the state park where we launched from for the "fish tales" and to give away some great stuff that our AWESOME SPONSORS FROM THIS SITE has gone out of their way to provide and make this one of the best days ever !!!! Mark from Bass Angler Mag. with one of the best mags on the planet !! Mike from Seibert Outdoors "G-man" jigs JJ and company from JJ's Magic "THE" one and only dipping dye and clear scent. Glenn and Kari from our very own Bass Resource best d**n website anywhere !!!! You guy's are going to enjoy what they have to offer and we can't wait to give them away !!!! Then it's on to the corn hole and the cooking for the choke and puke meal of the century !!!!! Don't forget to have your fishing licence and everything in order !!!! Tiger shad spinners, walking baits, Rat L traps, Shakey heads and the Drop shots will be most productive, The bait fish are now at the mouths of creeks and some have already made it back to the backs of creeks. It should be a good time for all of us, the weather is calling for a 30% chance of rain, and partly cloudy, 55* at launch and low 70's for a high. Any questions ?
  21. Nice job guys !!! Good looking fish you got there !!!
  22. Welcome to the forum !!! First post and showing us some nice fish, how cool is that !!! Congrats on the fishing and thanx for sharing your catch with us, we look forward to seeing and hearing more from you hooper12 !!!!
  23. It's FRIDAY !!!!! One week left before the meet and greet, I am really getting excited now and can not wait for next week !!!! The boat is almost ready and so is the gear, I look forward to meeting all of you and having some fun catching fish, playing some corn hole and eating some really good food. See you all next week, we will ask for final questions on Monday incase you all have any, I myself will not be around a computer this weekend but if you have any final questions go ahead and post them, if they have not been answered by Monday AM, we will be happy to answer them then OK !! Have a great weekend all !!!! Good luck and be safe !!!
  24. Awesome !!! 3 people on here have really influenced me in doing just that, yourself being one of them, RW, and catt, all 3 of you I have respect for when I think of the advice you all have so willingly given over the years. Thanx Wayne !!! Someday I hope to get the chance to meet up with you, who knows maybe even get a line wet with you too. Until then, Good luck and be safe !!!
  25. Still, thats pretty darn good results !!! If my math is right thats over 18,000 fish in 8 years, 18,143 to be exact, I don't care how you look at it, it is still amazing, congrats !!!! If retirement has that kind of advantage... I am putting in for early retirement HA HA !!! Thanx for sharing Wayne !!! Do you think your understanding of electronics have been a factor? If so how big? or how little? Edit : That question may be misleading, I am not questioning your skills at all, I think the totals speak for themselves as to how good of an angler you are, electronics don't catch fish, you do.
