- How did you find out about BassResource?
i found a link to this site on the website of "The Reel Mechanic", our late friend, David Green. That was 11 years ago. I lurked for about a year before joining. Don't know if it was an entire year, but it was quite a while.- Matching thread for blue Winn Grips
I no longer try to match colors with thread. Instead, I go for a contrasting, complimentary color.- I just got my first St Croix rod.
Your first St Croix? I'll bet it will not be your last.- What brand Tungsten do you use?
The only tungsten I have are a bunch of jigheads I got, dirt cheap. I never drank that flavor of koolaid.- Invisx vs. CXX

- trouble with magnetic brake system
I used to have some td1 and td2 reels, but it's been a while. Im going from memory, so if I say something stupid don't tell anybody. Take the side plate off. Rotate the outside braking dial. Does the magnetic ring rotate?. If it doesn't, I seem to remember that on the td1, it is possible to put it back in place without the gear teeth meshing with the gear turned by the dial. If the magnet ring rotates, then snaps back , the ring magnet has come loose from the holder, a not uncommon problem with the early Magforce reels. It can be glued back in place.- Rod build sucsess

Nice! Do put up rod pics. what I can see looks very good.- Looking towards Cali.
be a lot of Chinese restaurants for you to check out- best fishing knot
Controversy? or difference of opinion? Call it what you will. but what it comes down to is which knot YOU tie best. Spend a rainy afternoon practicing knots. Tie several different knots, then break them all. See which ones you tie best, and use them. You really want to get better at this? Spend another rainy afternoon practicing using 2lb test line.If you can tie a good knot in that, you can tie a good knot with any line.- Happy Father's Day to me!
You named one Lake. The new has to be River. No brainier.- Rod Building
I recently built a donation rod using a Revelation blank. It was raffled off to raise money for the local high school bass fishing team. It made a nice rod. I heard that the guy who won it likes it a lot.- Finesse spinning blank recommendations
To throw 1/32oz jigs, you're talking an ultralight blank. Not at all what I would recommend for a dropshot rod. Seems to me you need two different rods. But, take a look at Rainshadow Immortal blanks. Their popping blanks, and their walleye blanks. The IMMSW72MLTC is one of my favorite blanks. I've built two for myself, one spinning, and one casting. And I've built three for other guys. I use the spinning rod for trout, and the casting version for BFS bass fishing. Neither species seems to care that Batson calls this a walleye blank.- My Heart Goes out to Orlando
Thanks flyfisher. Lets keep this on point people.- grip shortening opinions requested
Considering wall thickness of today's blanks, I'd say you will not be able to do what you described. Your best bet would be to drill out the butt piece, and leave The section above the cut untouched. You could sand the part above the cut a little, but you risk weakening the blank by doing so. If you think about, you really need to remove enough material to equal the wall thickness of the blank. if you took half from each section, you'd be left with a very weak section above the cut. Best to leave that part alone. I'd be inclined to look on Mudhole or getbitoutdors, and buy a new butt grip piece, and ream or drill it out to fit.- First Edition

Channelling Kenny Rogers?- Fluoro for spinning reel
Funny. I've never seen a fluorocarbon line with the brand name braid. Where are you guys finding this stuff?- Bluegills and the end of the bass spawn?
That's what they say about us.- first time fishing what lure to throw
Some food for thought. Several have suggested a crankbait. If you decide to go that route, take a measurement or two first. How long are her arms? Add that to the rod length and add three to four feet for line out. Be 13 - 14 feet. Unless you can stay that far away from her at all times, do not give her a crankbait. This is a very painful lesson to learn.- What do you use to cut braid?
One these works nicely. Useful for other cutting tasks as well. http://www2.knifecenter.com/item/CISH2114/cas-hanwei-sh2114-zatoichi-sticksword-folded-high-carbon-blade-rosewood-handle- spam PM
You gotta try linguine with spam sauce. Or try this. Strain out all the spam juice from the can. Pour into an ice filled shaker and add 3 ounces of gin. Shake well and strain into a glass. Spamtini baby!- Getting Spooky around here.
