G. Loomis NRX is it worth it
I have the NRX and GLX's, and prefer the GLX's all over the NRX. But if I needed or wanted another high end rod, I would grab the NRX at that price. Hootie

Hot Spot
Never has a visability of more than 10 inches. Bottom is everything from muck, to clay, gravel and flat rocks. One particular clay point that I fish frequently has produced several four and five pounders. A lot of crawfish on that point. Hootie

I have a lot of old arkie jigs.I also use all terrain rattling jigs and Seibert brush jigs. Hootie It's a corp of engineers flood control lake. 155 acres, lots and I mean LOTS of laydowns. Lots of points and coves. Deepest part of the lake is 13 ft. It has a fifty foot diameter island near the dam. Shallow sloping on one side, drops off quickly on the other side. I have caught lots of 3 and 4 pound bass on the steep side. Hootie

What has happened with jig prices?
I bought Arkie jigs in 1982 for $0.69. Using a rate of inflation calculator, today's price should be $1.98. Hootie

What has happened with jig prices?
I can't believe how they have gone through the roof in the past couple of years. Some I've seen $5.00 to $8.00. In my case, that's a lure that stands about a 75% chance of not even making it back to the boat. But I fish them because they are extremely effective. Fortunately for me, I already have plenty that I have accumulated over the years, so I don't have to pay those exorbitant prices. Just a personal gripe. Hootie

Food for Thought
In the 1978 catalog, the only "non" BPS rods were the Fenwick Lunkerstik @ $28.99 and the Lews Speed Stick. Fenwick being the most expensive. In the 1982 catalog, the only rods at all, were all house brand, BPS rods. The most expensive being their Boron rod @ $59.99. Hootie
