  1. Thanks A-Jay, that being the case, the slow retrieve should be perfect for the ice water that I'm fishing right now. Hootie
  2. I used one for the first time yesterday. Doesn't act like the chatterbait at all. If I reel it the least bit too fast, it just comes to the surface. My chatterbaits stay down. Am I missing something? Is that the way it's supposed to work? Hootie
  3. The lake I fish never has a visability of more than 10 inches, yet it produces some really nice sized bass. Hootie
  4. Now that's a "Bass". Hootie

My second day of the season, yesterday, 4/1/15. The numbers aren't growing, but the fish are. This one was a shade over 20". Weight? I don't know, didn't have my scale. I'm guessing maybe 4#. Feel free to make a guess. I won't dispute any of them. Both picture are the same fish. Hootie
  6. That's how it's done! Hootie
  7. Actually, I was using a Chronarch 200e6. 1/2oz. Black, blue, purple rattle back jig and sapphire blue Zoom super chunk Jr. No, Senko, I didn't forget the Scorpion...lol. But it remains fishless. Going to get out again tomorrow. Hootie
  8. Yesterday, first time out for the season. Didn't exactly tear em' up, But it's a start. Water temp, low 40's. Only one fish, but the seasonal skunk, didn't even get a start. Hootie
  9. Yes, keep it fair and you usually won't have a problem. Good job! Hootie
  10. Sounds like a plan. I'll go buy me a new $400.dollar reel and you can go shopping at Kohls with the ladies...lol...JK. Hootie
  11. You need to go back and read this whole thread again. You will soon see that most of what you're saying makes no sense at all. Hootie
  12. True, very true and, OH!,...on the same hand,.... I see no need for a $420 dollar rod,....but I have one...er'.... three of them...and one $550...lol. Hootie
  13. You know, you're not gonna believe this but I completely forgot about that reel. It'll for sure get a workout. First time on the water. Hootie
  14. Hurry back Raider. Hootie
  15. Absolutely, I will be going Tuesday and, or Wednesday. Hootie
  16. Well, finally got the new roof on. Six guys, 2 days. Took two days because it was a two layer tear off. Plus it got new decking. Got an immediate test drive. It rained for a day and a half. Guys did a great job and the cleanup was excellent. I'm a happy camper. Hootie
  17. I was on here about a year ago, questioning whether or not I was going to continue using tungsten worm weights, or switch back to lead because of the price. Well, I stayed with the tungsten. I have even started using tungsten jigs and spinnerbaits. It's hopeless....lol. Hootie
  18. That's a shame. Bet you can't wait to fish it. Maybe the guys in customs are test driving it for you...lol. Hootie
  19. mhilgtx, I found your original post very interesting. I enjoy looking at the transition in fishing tackle from then until now. I doubt if more than a few of the old timers on here have a bigger collection of old, and antique fishing gear then I do. The improvement in technology, in reels is awesome. Rods are spectacular. If you doubt that, pick up one of my old “whippy” steel rods of the 40’s, then pick up my NRX. Garbage?.... “I don’t think so Al.” How about the old “handle spinning, knuckle buster” reels. This is what I fished with as a kid and it worked. Would I want to go back? A resounding...NO!! I love experimenting with the new stuff. I fish, primarily Loomis and Shimano. Yeah, I guess I’m a “Shimano fan boy”. I have also used St.Croix, Falcon, Berkley, BPS, Duckett, and yes, SenkoGuru, “them ol’ Dobyns.”...lol. Reels?...Heddon, Southbend, Langley, Pflueger, Abu Garcia Ambassadeurs, the list goes on and on. The fact that someone would make such a blanket cover all statement calling everything else garbage is absurd. It’s all good, and an enormous lot of fun. If you enjoy, and prefer what you use over what I use, that’s great. But why knock everything that everyone else is using. As we used to say “WHAT’S IT TO YA!” Hootie
  20. Been there and BOY do I remember those days. Hootie
  21. I hear Noah's pretty good at building boats. Hootie
