To coffee or not to coffee
I don't doubt it, if I did I and others wouldn't come up with our own recipes and have success with it. It's the attraction of the smell that I doubt sometimes. I'm convinced that once bit the taste makes them hold it just a little longer eliminating some short stikes, but it's the actual first hand evidence such as yours that sometimes proves me wrong. Mike

To coffee or not to coffee
I'll tell ya I have never bought a a package of plastic just because it had scent. I make my own anyway (anise and baby oil) and I'm convinced that does help. Is it the only reason they bit it? Maybe, sometimes I not so sure. Mike

Must have fluro line sizes
Other than for punching I use Flouro on every combo I own. From 12# for moving baits to 20# for moderate to heavy vegetation. Mike

“Best” all- purpose line? (P-line cxx?)
To me the best "all around" line is Yo Zuri Hybrid. That stuff is tough, strong and much more manageable than you would think especially with a little Line & Lure. its has a larger diameter than other lines of the same advertised strength but I would still condider it a viable option also. Mike

Would crawdad bait be appropriate?
Exactly! Mike

Line lubricant
To me the "best" is the KVD line & lure. Apply it when spooling and the night before every outing. It makes the line lay down and helps eliminate stiffness and coil's especially on mono and flouro. I also use it on braided lines some don't. Mike

Best knot for monofilament and fluorocarbon line
I use Suline Flouro on every combo I use (14# - 20#) exvept for punching and have been for years. I use the SDJ exclusively now and have never had a problem. The problem is not the line. Sure it's less forgiving but still the best for my tastes. When tieing a knot any knot, but especially with Flouro, make sure the wraps are not overlapping but laying flat and parallel to each other. I would bet that could be part of your problem. Just a thought. Mike

Where should I move to?
I've lived in Fla for 39 yrs and have fished in every kind of lake, pond, river, stream, canal, quarry pit and drainage ditch there are and I'll tell you honestly, as long as you're smart and careful (in that order) you probably won't see anything larger than a squirrel. Don't let what you hear or read give you any preconceived or misinformed opinions. Is is there a risk shuffling through an overgrown wooded area? Sure, but no more so than any other area in the SE. Where should I move to?
The trick I learned is to get one bigger than you think you'd need and remember they have wheels.. It's a lifestyle not for everyone but it does get in the blood. Mike

Where should I move to?
Sell or give away everything you don't absolutely want or need and buy a motorhome.... Go where you want, When you want, Stay as long as you want, to do what you want. Having the ability to chase a sunrise and/or sunset at our leisure was the best decision I ever made. Mike
