  1. I must admit that is a great thought and I must agree that it could happen. If a boat can dry completely over the course of a week and transmit something invasive to another body of water, why can't that gitterbug?
  2. I use the #1 split rings for mine and a Mojo "rig saver" wire. If I get hung-up, it strips the weight and I at least get my hook back. A single split ring for vertical hook eyes and double split ring for horizontal eyes like EWGs. You can use just about any style weight for that matter, even a tungsten bullet weight.
  3. WTG, great fish!
  4. I think there is still hope logan and it may just be a matter of time..... It's my opinion that Junebug is a color to be used in stained/dirty water or at night. Being a dark color bait, it provides a great silhouette in those conditions. If it's bright out or your water is clear or just slightly stained, you may consider trying a more natural color like green pumpkin or watermelon/red. When fishing soft plastics in general there are always three things to consider: bait profile fish are keying-in on on a given day. Bait color fish are happy to eat on a given day. The presentation that is triggering fish to bite. Now I know typing the above is much easier than actually putting it all together on the water but, if you work at it, it will happen. Don't get discouraged either. I had the same sort of thing happening with the Eeliminator when I first tried it. My wife would be catching fish one after another on the eel and I couldn't buy a bite on it for multiple outings. I got so frustrated that I fished just that bait for close to a month until I realized a slight tweak of my presentation made the difference. I was impatient and fishing of the bait to fast based upon conditions that led to all my frustration. Since then, I won't leave home without them and most always have one rigged. Believe me, it times like these and all the experimenting that you do just trying to catch a darned fish that will ultimately make you a well rounded angler. Keep your chin up Logan.
  5. That's not something I would suggest. I would choose either a: weighted hook, a T/rig or a Carolina rig.
  6. Try the horizontal fall of a weighted hook. They allow you bait to settle to the bottom instead of nosing down in the mud.
  7. Sure Logan, a standard T/rig works well too.
  8. The hook in the picture is 3/8oz so I can get some distance casting and fish it faster. The three fins on the rooster do tend to catch come air when casting so the extra weight helps. Wind shear isn't effecting bait above, I can tell you that.
  9. Great all around bait. Bass just keep eat it! Both arms have been pulled from this smokin rooster and it was still catching fish.
  10. I agree Bassin' gal', nice going RW.
  11. See! That's exactly what I'm talking about. Nice one vapredhunter!
  12. If your fish haven't transitioned from post-spawn to a summer pattern, concentrate some effort of deeper water adjacent to spawning areas just like you would during pre-spawn. I would try things like T/rigged Craws or Lobsters, big worms like a Thumper and big jigs/craw trailer. The fish (post-spawn) are taking a breather and want a meal. You just need to present that meal where they are. Alternatively, you could beat the banks fishing shallow with something like a senko or space monkey with very little weight and should have a hayday with the buck males. Just my 2 cents.
  13. Gotta love when the smallies pull on that line, WTG!
  14. Great job, congrats.
  15. That's awesome!
  16. That's just about to much for someone who hasn't fished in a couple days living back east. Got my heart pumping buddy, awesome video! Guy fishing behind him better be quick and accurate, lol.
  17. Nice going RW! Gotta love it when all the persistence pays off.
  18. I have had good luck T/rigging it myself. I fish lots of shallow water and a 1/4oz tungsten does the job for me. A 4/0 or 5/0 ewg with a weight to match your presentation and everything should be golden.
  19. You got it, 4/0 works. Baby craw also works great rigged on a jig head.
  20. Awesome reporting on the event.
  21. Nice job Basser! Time for 1086 fish this year?
  22. I'm curious as to the science behind your battle, already seems like you have stacked the deck. The speed craw has a lot of catching up to do imo..... https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.340718069326813.87492.183400771725211&type=3
