I just got a Powell Diesel in the mail yesterday. Hope to try it out this weekend- Backing For Braid
Zebco Omniplex mono - cheapest stuff at the local Wal-Mart- Need Help With Next Setup
Hey guys, I need some help with what type of setup I should get for my next rod/reel combo. I usually fish in a large pond from a john boat, but also occasionally the lake on the back of my neighbor's boat. Here are the setups I currently have: Daiwa Procaster / Daiwa Tierra 7' MH Rod - used mainly as my jig rod (favorite technique) Daiwa Regal-XiA / Abu Garcia Vengeance 6'9" M Rod - used for T-rigged worms, shakey heads, etc. I'm looking to spend no more than $200 for the combo. I can't decide if I want to get a cranking setup, or a higher quality all-around set up. Thanks, and all help is appreciated!- Took My Nephew For His First Trip
- Took My Nephew For His First Trip
Went to a pond today and took my 5-year old nephew on his first fishing trip. Had him using an old Zebco spincast rigged with a little blue and green grub. Quite a few bass were hanging on the bank - mainly dinks around 10-12". I was using a Havoc Pit Boss but the presentation seemed a bit too large for their liking. This was actually my first attempt at sight fishing. Alex lost interest about 15 minutes into it and started playing with the dragonflies and tad poles. I came up on this one little dink and began flipping the Pit Boss to it. It would come up and sniff it but never would fully take it. At one point it finally nipped at the tail. At this time, I had Alex bring me his rod and began flipping the grub. The bass took it and I set the hook and gave the little guy the rod. He reeled it in by himself and then held it for a picture!- Finally
Looks Great - as usual!!- First Bass of 2011
Caught this little one on a green pumpkin jig for my first catch of the year. Hopefully many more to come!- Welcome To The New Bassresource.com!
Oops, I somehow created a different account above when I tried to login via Facebook...- Underwater Bass Video
My favorite part was at 5:05. Most of the bass struck the skirt/hook part only of the spinnerbaits, but this one took the whole thing - blades and all!!- STATE VS STATE ---Season 3 2011 ***CLOSING DATE REVISED***
Sure, why not? I'm in!- How Shallow is Too Shallow?
Great, thanks everyone! Looks like I have a new spot to fish!- How Shallow is Too Shallow?
Hey guys, The local pond where I predominantly fish is about a 4-acre pond. There is only one area that has significant vegetation coming up from the water, but the water depth is probably 1 foot at the most. I would like to be able to throw some frogs and flip some creature baits in this mess, but is the water depth too shallow to have any bass? How shallow will bass get?- No Classic on TV this w/end?
I believe you can actually stream coverage from bassmaster.com. Not the same as watching it on TV, but still the Classic nonetheless...- Post some fishing love (Photo Thread)
Hey Ninja, I actually just bought the Tierra rod to pair with my Procaster. How do you like the setup? What do you use it for primarily?- Fished my first tournament today (10/16)
Sorry to hear about the one that got away - there are so many times that I wish I could have at least seen how big a fish was... Congrats on your first tourney - I'm still waiting to get in one- Caught a good one on a Yellow Magic today!!!
A couple of weeks ago my buddy was fishing the small pond at his house. He threw his cast and in mid-air a bird intercepted the line, flew up into a tree, and kicked the worm free from his foot. As soon as the worm hit the water, a small bass hit it. I told him that is about as natural of a presentation as you can get!- Zoom Baby Brush Hogs ?
X2 Those are the exact two ways I use them - either as a trailer on a jig, or T-rigged weightless on a Gamakatsu 4/0 Superline hook. My favorite color is Green Pumpkin - I actually caught my PB on one last night! Occasionally I'll rig one on a shakey head...- Tourny on lake flooded with Timber
So how did he do?- My First 3+ pounder!
Went to our usual pond this evening with my fishing partner. Very slow day to begin with - Alex catching a fish around 14" and another about 12". We were fishing along the back-side bank around some fallen timber that usually produces some good fish, but tonight we weren't getting anything. I was throwing a Green Pumpkin Baby Brush Hog and right as we said we were going to move to our last spot - WHAM! A hard hit pretty close to the boat. Didn't put up much of a fight and netted him pretty easy. I knew he was my first three pounder so I got the camera out of the tackle bag. As soon as my friend turned it on, the batteries were dead! > So I pull out the cell phone and try to use it but he couldn't get a good pic...That was the worst part about tonight - not being able to get a nice picture- Excited for the mail today!
But of course the best answer would be, "I TOLD my wife/fiance..." ;D- Help me choose the next additon to my arsenal; A flip and pitch combo
From what I've read on BR the past few months, a burner reel would be better for this application. It will allow you to get the fish up and out of cover faster than a 6.4 reel. Again, that's just what I've read, so some of the more experienced guys on here may have a better answer...- Have you ever seen a bass do cartwheels across a pond
Since he threw it, were you able to get your popper back?- Daiwa ProCaster, mini review
Just bought 1 myself! You could barely get a Wal-Mart Shakespeare for this price! - Any Songs About Bass Fishing??
