  1. Try a magic eraser or let them soak in some warm water and use a scrub pad. That will get most of the stuff off but some baits it won't.
  2. I average 3 days a week so 3x52=156. That will vary a bit during the colder months if everything freezes up close by so I can't hit any small lakes or ponds but I still almost always get out 1 day a week even during the winter. Then I also have fishing trips where I may fish for a week straight to kind of offset that. I would have guessed somewhere around 125-130 days a year and by my calculations that's pretty close.
  3. I like the looks of those rig walkers, but since we can only use 2 baits on a rig in KS it's kind of pointless. They might be an interesting bait to try by themselves though.
  4. The bigger of those two fish. I think it was 3lbs 15ozs if I remember right? Sure looked heavier than that though. I caught 2 fish over 7 pounds in Kansas for the first time ever! Started with a 7.51 on January 10th that slammed a SK series 5 in green gizzard shad color. Then on March 7th I caught a 7.76lb tank on a chart/black Spro Fat John from the same lake. Just a couple ounces short of my best fish from KS. I also bested my PB rainbow trout with a 6.5lb fish on a little cleo on the 21st of March. Caught a new PB brown trout on a Lucky Craft Spazz jerkbait that went 5.5 pounds. A few days later I caught my first ever striper then the next day caught a new PB that went 20.01 pounds on an A-rig. About the only bass fishing goal I set out to accomplish was to catch a bass in Kansas on an 8" Hudd, check
  5. I'd say you had something wrong with you if you didn't feel a little blue. Remember the good times and be glad you had the chance to have them when you did.
  6. That rods are decent, probably could get a pretty fair moving bait combo at a great price. Don't think I'd be looking at one for feel baits though.
  7. I really like peas and carrots and truse pumpkin.
  8. I own most every color of the RC sticks in both the full size and small size. Like I said earlier, they're one of my favorite baits. Like cbass said, change out the hooks, you'll have to do it after a big fish straightens them out otherwise. French pearl, secret night, pro blue, herring bone chartreuse, and cosmic shad are my favorite. The herring bone color probably looksthe most like a baby bass, purple flash would be my choice to imitate a bluegill or crappie.
  9. I carry too much gear, other than that I'm just out there to have fun. I guess having all the toys is part of the fun anyways though
  10. It varies a lot for me but a majority of the time I use 15 or 16 but I'll go down to 10 or up to 25, depends on the situation.
  11. I'm actually in a big bass contest on another forum and if I hold onto my current second place spot I'll win a custom built rod. Thinking about having one built for him so I can give it to him for a birthday present somewhere down the road. If everything goes well it sounds like we'll be taking him home on Chirstmas Eve, couldn't ask for a better present.
  12. Your first attempt looks almost exactly like my Texas Craw jigs, that's my favorite color. The fish are fond of it too
  13. My favorites are either a homemade 1/2oz brush jig or homemade 5/16oz finesse jig, both tipped with Paca chunks.
  14. If the water is cool I'd be fishing a deeper running jerkbait. Stroking a swimbait or swimming a grub can also be very effective in that situation. A crankbait may work but it wouldn't be my first pick unless they were suspending in the tops of trees.
  15. Really a lot of variables on which one I choose but a majority of the time I'm either fishing a Luck E Strike RC stix or a LC 78 pointer.
  16. Any of you guys that have my number that I haven't talked to or texted recently, send me a text with your name so I know who it is. I lost most my contacts when my phone went swimming while we were duck hunting.
  17. Any of these colors and you'll sell them in no time, or catch a bunch of fish on them, whichever your prefer.
  18. Terrible bait, waste of time. Don't fish them like that in weeds, woods, docks, rocks, behind guys flipping the standard fair, nope. I use the BPS stick O's for doing this because they're more durable. You're not looking for that trademark Senko wobble on the fall here, so the cheaper baits don't hinder bites in my experience. They are great on a shakyhead also.
  19. T rig them badboys on an EWG hook just like a worm. It has a lot of thump and a big profile that works well in dirty water and calls in the quality fish.
  20. Some of the lakes in KS are about as featureless as it gets. The state will often add them to shallow water to help the bass fry survival rates because in some lakes where there is literally nowhere for them to hide, survival rates are extremely low. So it isn't just to help find fish, it can really help the populations as well.
  21. Very solid, and dependable reels. They aren't the lightest thing out there but still a great reel for the money.
  22. I have a 300e I use for a majority of my swimbaiting, it's been a great reel for me for about a year now. I also have a 400B Calcutta I use from time to time but it's a lot of reel for anything but the biggest swimbaits.
  23. Are they defective when they're no longer red? The red VMC's I use work just fine even when they're mostly silver instead of red. I'll often use the lost of color as an indicator that it's time to change my hooks though.
  24. That's a better description than I made. They are just as difficult to get to bite as an other bass, but when they decide to strike it is extremely aggressive. They were actually really selective the week I got to fish for them, but when they decided they wanted a bait, they destroyed it. Certainly were not easier to catch by any means, not in my experience anyways.
