  1. Congrats to both of you. I'm sure you were probably just as excited as she was!
  2. A sensitive rod is a must for fishing a jig, experienced or not. Stick with it and I'm sure you'll grow to love them!
  3. Get some RCX jerkbaits by Luck E Strike. Almost the same bait and they don't hurt nearly as bad to lose.
  4. Well now we have: Chris S+friend Retro-boater Hi Salenity-either Flash+friend kanasbassfisher08-nonboater Bluebasser86-boater Watachi-nonboater So we're back where we started I guess If we could get another boater it would be good.
  5. Freshwater drum, I could go pro catching those things if there was tournaments for them. They have all kinds of names for them, sheepshead being one of the more popular one. They look kind of similar to the saltwater sheepshead, don't know if they're in any way related though.
  6. Well the wife and I just got back from Table Rock and Big Cedar Lodge last night. It was a lot of fun but the fishing was pretty tough. One of my homemade jigs caught most of my fish, followed by a shakeyhead, splitshot rig, spook, and squarebill. First day I had 3 keepers, second day I had a small limit, 3rd day we went to Bull Shoals and I caught a small limit again on squarebills and jigs. Wasn't catching a bunch but the ones that were hitting the jig were killing it! This keeper spot tried to swallow my jig. Chunky largemouth. Nicole's white bass on a ned rig. She caught a smallmouth on it too but only took a picture with her phone. Keeper largemouth on a spook. My biggest from Table Rock ate a jig. My scale said 3.2lbs but it looked bigger in person and in the picture. Healthy fish either way. Keeper spot on a KVD 1.5 from Bull Shoals. 10" warmouth that ate my 3/8oz jig in a brushpile. One of the highlights of the trip. They had the Oakley Big Bass Tour going on this weekend and the weigh in was at Big Cedar. I knew about all that going on, I didn't know that KVD was going to be there. I was casually unhooking my boat at the ramp and I just looked up at the stage and instantly recognized him standing by the side of the stage talking to a couple other guys that were assisting with weigh in. I told my wife and we had to go say hi real quick. He was nice enough to let us get a couple pictures and he gave me a Oakley Big Bass Tour hat and signed it for me.

  8. Flash's buddy is bringing his boat and they're going to fish together and Retro is bringing his I believe so we may have an extra boater if we don't have anyone else decide they want to go. If that's the case I'm sure I can find someone else that wants to go that isn't a memeber.
  9. Right now I believe we have: Hi Salenity Chris Schauer Retro basser kanasbassfisher08 Flash+friend bluebasser86
  10. My buddy loves them and catches a lot of fish on them just dragging them like a C-rig.
  11. We did really well on Bull in March throwing the A-rig with 4 5" grass pigs and one 7" hollow belly. They almost always ate the hollow belly. I'd have no problems fishing a 6" hudd on that lake. The only downside is they'd be wrecked every time one of those big stripers ate them.
  12. Zell pop and Cavitron are my 1-2 topwater punch. I'm experimenting with a Spro popping frog because some of the lakes I fish are getting grass in them now and I'm liking the results so far. The Cavitron buzzbait is my hands down favorite though.
  13. Havoc Grass Pig has become my favorite. Great action, durable, cheap, and the fish kill them! On a jighead or weedless swimbait hook, great either way.
  14. Sounds like a good day to me! I almost suggest tossing a swimbait, sounds like it would have been a perfect day to do it with them biting good and the windy conditions.
  15. I love it when they look like this!
  16. It ain't broke, don't fix it! Personally I love it when they're beat up like that, they just catch more fish for me that way it seems.
  17. Ok guys it's been brought to my attention that for some of you that are planning on being at the bragging rights tourny at Melvern it may be your first tournament and may not know proper ettiquette. I'll do the drawing a week before so you can get in touch with your partners so you can run through some of it because some things will be the boaters preference, like how much gear to bring. Mainly, as we all know, gas is expensive. Some of the boaters may be spending 75-100 dollars between the truck and boat, maybe more with the cost of boat oil if you run a lot. In most tournaments the co-angler will chip in for some of the gas expenses and I know all the boaters, myself included, would appreciate the help with gas, even $25 or $30 helps a lot and is way cheaper than you could rent a boat or get a guide for a day If there is anyone with any questions or suggestions just let me know. Pretty small group right now with several guys not having Sundays available or having other plans but should still be a good time even with a smaller group and maybe we can get another one set up for the fall and plan ahead further to make it easier for more people to show up.
  18. Why are you taking the year off from Wyco? I was just starting to think I'd forgotten how to catch fish in that lake until today. I'd been averaging 1 keeper a trip, pretty crappy. Haven't caught any smallmouth over 16 yet, couple 15's though. My buddy fishes the Wednesday nighters and has won it the last 2 weeks with 2 fish and a little over 3 1/2 lbs both times. I guess someone did have a 3 1/2 pound largemouth this week and there was a 3 1/2 lb smallie last week. At least a couple bigger fish have come in. Last year I think there was 4 or 5 over 3 lbs all year with a 5.8 being the biggest.
  19. Never even heard of it. I'd probably keep a crankbait or spinnerbait in my hand if I could get a bite on one in that kind of wind. I'd try one of those coves, the first drop by spawning areas will probably have quite a few fish either moving up or coming out depending on the water tempature. Good luck and let us know how you did!
  20. I know they sink very slowly on 8lb nanofil with a 4/0 hook so 65lb braid probably does just about float them.
  21. The constant big fish potential. I'm also a firm believer that swimbaits catch bass that ignore all other offerings. I've seen it time and time again in clear water. I can see a fish and it ignores and even shys away from other offerings but toss a swimbait at it and it slams it.
  22. Is it a big body of water or a pond? That is probably one of the biggest influencing factors on if they'll stay or not. Is there deeper water in this cove? If there's deep water nearby and plenty of food and cover they'll probably stay there all summer and fall.
  23. Started when I was 21 too. You're going to catch a lot of crap from people that don't want to listen to you because you're young, just don't lose your cool over it and be as professional as you can be. It's really hard to get in trouble for being rude or whatever the complaint will be about when you were saying "Yes Sir, No Sir" the entire time you were being yelled and cussed at. Got to have thick skin too, and a strong stomach doesn't hurt
  24. Goggle eye is whole different fish. Lots of them in the ozark streams south of me a few hours. They're usually way bigger than green sunfish tend to be. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://media.basspro.com/images/articles/GoggleEyeFishing_0445.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPage%3FstoreId%3D10151%26catalogId%3D10051%26langId%3D-1%26%26mode%3Darticle%26objectID%3D33748%26catID%3D%26subcatID%3D0&usg=__Xg0wXhgbQlUbql3lSABiQkYoqoU=&h=300&w=225&sz=13&hl=en&start=11&zoom=1&tbnid=r6v4GwCiyd2fzM:&tbnh=116&tbnw=87&ei=st-2T92bMcvvggfqrNTFCg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dgoggle%2Beye%2Bfish%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Dactive%26sa%3DN%26gbv%3D2%26rlz%3D1R2ADFA_en%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1 Like a lot of fish the green sunfish goes by a lot of different names. I'm just going by their true name in an attempt to prevent confusion because they all do look similar and there are lots of places, like around where I'm at, that you could make three casts and catch a green sunfish, goggle eye, and warmouth on consecutive casts. They go by different names depending on regions a lot of the time. A lot of people around here call them perch despite the fact that there are actually very few actual perch to be caught anywhere near here.
  25. Well I hope I didn't use all my fishing luck up this morning. I was at the Dotte from 9:30-12:30, part of that time was spent putting new bunks on my trailer, and caught a 5 fish limit Nothing huge, biggest was around 17" maybe 2 3/4lbs but I didn't jump off another one the same size and one that would have gone over 3, so I could have been culling! At Wyandotte! All on the same bait which I can't share on here because I'll be fishing the Wednesday nighters later this year and I was doing something I don't think anyone else does and I want to see if it works again or if today was just a fluke.
