  1. Baby -1, LC CBS 1, Strike King series 1, Shallow Shad rap.
  2. That's crazy, never heard of that happening before.
  3. What type of mold release do you use? I'd like to try some but don't want to get the wrong stuff and break something or hurt myself. What do you use to clean your spout? It's about time for me to start pouring again and I'd like to get everything ready to go.
  4. Jeff Dunham is hilarious, with or without the puppets. He is very good at what he does. I haven't seen his new one but I have it DVR'd, waiting until my wife gets back in October to watch it with her because she loves him too. We saw him live last winter and he was really good live too. Everyone has their own opinion of what's funny and I'm easily amused and like to laugh so it works for me.
  5. If it's an actual painting of a picture on a legal wall then I could consider it art. If it's on the side of a building or somewhere else then it's a crime, especially if it's of nothing more than a gang name or other gang related activity.
  6. There are fitness tests you have to pass to get the job but then there isn't any more fitness tests after that, at least none I have ever had to do. I try to stay in shape because my life may depend on it. It's like any job, you'll have some people in shape and some out of shape. We have some good looking female deputies, some better than good looking, and we have some that make you cringe when you look at them. As long as they can do the job expected of them then it's their life, if they can't do the job then it may be my or someone else's life and they need to get it under control. I can say our department does at least have insentitives for staying in shape and does provide us with a nice, free gym that's open 24/7.
  7. Not the biggest one I've ever caught by far but he fought like a 40 pounder when he got into the current. The weird part is I had a couple rods out with live sunfish in slack water by a logjam and then one with a shad head on the edge of the current. Well he ate the shad head in the current . Thought I had a nice blue but it turned out to be a little flathead. Scale said 10lbs 10oz. Took the picture then turned him loose to grow up.
  8. Well I have a couple reports. I went to the new Critzer Lake in Mound City and have to say I was disappointed. Maybe it was the weather, maybe it was all the sudden fishing pressure, maybe it was me. Fished from 10am-5pm and caught 23 largemouth, 1 catfish, and 1 sunfish. Most fish were caught on compact flipping baits, but they liked a crankbait in the few areas I could actually fish one. Even in my small boat I could only fish about 1/3 of the lake because the trees are so thick. The wind was blowing so that didn't help. There is no laned cut in the trees so navigation is impossible in a lot of areas. I could see it being a really good lake in 5-10 years though when things thin out. Here's what I guess they're calling a brushpile, I caught 6 and busted off 3 times in this pile. There's about 9 feet of water under it but the holes I was flipping in were so small I literally couldn't pull the fish back through. My biggest I caught was 17 1/2 inches. Got out to Olathe Lake today for a few hours before work. Didn't catch as many as we did the other day but I did get my biggest fish from there so far. 19" on a slider head and a Havoc Bottom Hopper. Sad part is it was only 3lbs 3oz so it was really skinny. Starting to like that lake a little more now that I'm learning it a little.
  9. If you can find them, fish the docks . If you can't find them, you're at the wrong lake. Try to pay attention to the bottom contour and fish the docks along breaks or points first and work your way back into the coves. By that time they should be working their way back into the coves following the shad. I was going to go out there this weekend but with the Big Bass Bash I didn't want to deal with all the boat traffic. Missouri craw and PB&J jigs are usually really good. I've heard there is a great bite right now for numbers of fish with a baby brush hog on a shakeyhead. Should be able to catch some fish around the docks on spinnerbaits and squarebills and maybe some topwater.
  10. 20lb InvisX unless I'm fishing heavy grass then it's 65lb PP.
  11. Squarebills are about the only lipped crankbait I fish. I catch fish on Xcaliburs, KVD 1.5's, RC 1.5, Luck e strike RC 1.5's, H2O's, Bandit 100's, Strike King 4S, Storm short wart. My favorites are the LC RC 1.5, Xcaliburs, and H20 baits.
  12. Pretty much any reaction bait does well for me in the fall at different times. The KVD 1.5 should do well. I like squarebills until the water gets down to about 55 degrees, then Xcalibur XR50's come out to take their place.
  13. They might be but I doubt it, I know I wouldn't.
  14. Not a chance. I like fishing for too many different kinds of fish at too many different places to get bored. One of the hardest decisions I have to make each time I go fishing is where and for what, I'm always pulled so many different directions wishing I had more time to fish for something somewhere other than where I'm going.
  15. I think that similar to guys that kill alligator gar because they "eat all the bass" despite several studies that have been done that show bass make up less than 1% of the gars diet. I'm sure muskie do eat some of the bass but not like they eat shad, suckers, carp, walleye, and perch. You get a group of ignorant people together like that and they can be dangerous when they decide to be self made fisheries biologist.
  16. Like others have said, fishing can be great in November. The fish are filling up for winter and usually still pretty actively chasing baits for at least part of the month. If you have any powerplant lakes close by things will be starting to heat up there too.
  17. I can't help myself when I see an old cartoon on tv. Every once in awhile I'll catch an old Bugs Bunny or Wiley Coyote and have to watch it. Lately they have been showing Popeye and Tom and Jerry a lot. I couldn't imagine kids now watching Tom and Jerry, "Is the TV broke? Why aren't they talking? This is stupid!" It's called an imagination, you used to have to have one when you were little
  18. If you're using livers and don't want to use a treble hook then use a #1 or 1/0 Kahle hook. Thread the liver on the hook and then wrap it with thread to help hold it on. I'd probably use an octopus style hook for the nightcrawlers.
  19. Went to Olathe Lake Sunday after work from 10-2. About 10 other boats on the lake and all bank fishing spots covered but we did better than I've ever done at Olathe. We had 20-25 between the two of us with several over 15". We both had one 18" fish apiece for the two biggest fish. Most fish caught on small plastics fished slowly but had a couple fish on cranks and one on a spinnerbait also. My friend caught a little saugeye on a shakeyhead also. I'm hating myself now for staying out that late when I knew I had to work tonight.
  20. St croix Avid 7' MH or wait until the new St. Croix Rage rods come out and get a rod with similar specs.
  21. I think he means crawl like reel it as slowly as you can while keeping it on the surface. One of the biggest mistakes I see by people trying to fish a buzzbait is they're usually reeling like they're scared something might catch up to it. I reel mine very slowly and give the rod tip sharp twitches when it comes by likely spots. It seems to trigger a lot of strikes for me.
  22. Xcalibur Zell Pop by a mile for me. Chug bug and Skitter pop are a distant 2nd and 3rd.
  23. Largemouth all the way. Like GA said, next time close the mouth and if the jawline extends past the back of the eye it's a largemouth, if not it's a spot. The rough patch on the tougue is another clue but I've heard of largemouth having something similar. The dark, solid lateral line is another indicator that you caught a largemouth and not a spot. Spots may have somewhat of a line but not as dark and distinct as that one has.
  24. It depends on the size bait I'm using and size fish I'm targeting. Kahle hooks are great for smaller baits and smaller fish (under 20lbs) If I'm using a big chunk of cutbait or a big livebait I use a octopus hook that is actually a saltwater bait hook. I like them because they have a black nickel finish so they don't rust as easy, they're stronger than most freshwater hooks, and they're not as bulky as a lot of hooks marketed for catfish. Big hooks aren't a big deal for cutbait but for a livebait you want to stay alive, the smaller, lighter the hook the longer it will stay alive and effective. You can either buy the mesh that is used to fish spawn bags for salmon and trout or you can steal your wife/girlfriends pantyhose The pantyhose work great for livers. Cut a square and put the livers in the middle and fold the corners together and put a hook through all 4 corners. Just be ready to get some weird looks when you're at the story buying pantyhose
  25. The article says he used an "old style" curado for the Kinami Flash. It just says Shimano Curado for the "undisclosed discontinued Bass Pro swimbait." You're right though, the DSV was greyish-silver and the reel I remember seeing was dark green and not one of the new Curados. Maybe he had it custom painted to confuse everyone
