  1. Facts, and they don't work if you don't wear them. You going to wear a big, bulky, $15 life jacket all day on the water? I wouldn't even want to wear one just driving the boat to the next spot.
  2. Pop a split shot or a few BBs into the body cavity.
  3. I've owned 3 Rock Crawlers, which is 1 more than the number of bass I've caught with them ?
  4. Swim jigs tend to have a thinner/softer weed guard and a lighter hook to go along with the different shaped head. I've caught a lot of bass swimming a flipping jig.
  5. Couldn't get them to eat my Spro, switched to the Rattle Toad and turned the switch on!
  6. There's quite a few in there, and they love swimbaits. I've had a good number of limits and even culled when the conditions were good, ending up with 5 fish limits in the mid teen range. Then I'd go out on Wednesday night and be lucky to have 1 or 2 keepers to weigh in. I swear those fish know when it's Wednesday night. Gardner was a whole lot of fun this morning.
  7. Had a nice break from the heat this morning and although I hadn't planned on going fishing, when I woke up and saw it was cloudy with a little rain, I couldn't help myself. Fishing was great, didn't need much other than a FishLab Rattle Toad and FishLab Bio Minnow. They weren't the biggest, but man they were slamming the frog and swimbait.
  8. I use a MH/F with straight braid with no issues, it's actually the perfect combo for them IMO. I reel into the fish, no massive hookset. The stouter rod digs the hooks without a hook set and if the fish misses the bait, I didn't jerk the bait away from the fish with a hook set. When you take away the big hook set, you also take away the big holes being torn in the fish's jaw that allow it to shake free during the fight. Depends a lot of the rod maker also. The rod I use is pretty true to it's ratings and has a nice even bend to it to keep hooks from tearing out of surging fish at the boat. I keep the drag fairly loose also to help keep them stuck.
  9. Happens all the time here. I've caught dozens in a day of fishing for bass, sometimes many more catfish than the bass that I was targeting. It's an unfortunate thing if you damage their eye, but catfish are more than capable of finding food without them.
  10. I just buy stuff from stores of Ebay. Haven't had any trouble getting stuff (other than the delivery being slowed at times). Tried to get nail weights at Academy this week, not a single one. Ended up buying pinch on 1/32oz weights and clamping them onto some small 1 1/2" long nails and pushing them into the worms, actually worked great.
  11. If you like topwater explosions...
  12. 1.5" black and chartreuse tube on a 1/32oz jighead with a jig spinner.
  13. If you're stuck in one spot on the bank, that's the only time I'd consider using minnows. If you're in a boat and can be mobile, no reason to waste time with minnows.
  14. Someone forgot to tell this catfish he's a bottom feeding, scavenger ? Not sure how he found that motionless popper with it's poor eyesight either ?
  15. Not sure yet, I was cranking over grass. I got mine from 6th Sense, just in time apparently ?‍♂️
  16. I bet it wanders a good 6-8 inches side to side, it's nuts. Doesn't dive nearly as deep as it looks like it would, maybe 2' tops.
  17. Yeah they are, and I lied about not being able to try it for a while.
  18. Won't get to fish it for a minute, but it looks good.
  19. No reason to have the leader. The rod should work, and with straight braid you don't need a big hookset. I use straight braid with mine on a MH rod and just reel into them when they blow up on it. Some days they're just missing it.
  20. They've quickly become one of my favorites. I have 12-15 now.
  21. Got a couple of the new 6th Sense baits, a new to me squarebill, a backup Provoke, and one because they made it for me ?
  22. Wasn't any doubt from the bite what this one was going to be. I try to lie and get my hopes up, but I knew it was going to have whiskers when it got to the boat.
  23. Saw this one in the tree early this spring but couldn't quite reach it in my johnboat. I was back in my Stratos today with a longer retriever and it was still there.
  24. Pretty good morning bite after work yesterday. No big ones, but several keepers and they were hammering the Pulse Tail bluegill, which is a fun bite despite my inability to hook them for some reason. Caught most of my fish on a Neko rigged YUM Magnum Finesse worm or Genie worm. I've heard of bass with this gold coloration, but never seen one in person. Only a touch of it on his lips, but still neat to see.
