not entirely sure why I participate in forums.
I don't do many forums because I don't enjoy arguing with people just because they disagreed with the opinion or experience I shared, which is kind of one of the main points of a forum. I read a few others, but rarely participate. This has been the only one that I felt was actually ran in a way that allowed people to participate in conversation and debate without having to worry about someone berating them or getting in a peeing match.

whole mice or chunk mice for catfish?
I'm sure they would, but not sure why you'd want to? So many easier options available.

Struggling: Keep boat or trade for Kayak
I've got both and they both have their advantages. If it wasn't for my family occasionally wanting to go, I'd sell my boat and keep the kayak.

Don't forget about Roadrunners either.

It's about average. I guess a voucher for how pressured the lakes I fish are.

Time for the annual purge. These are all the baits I've found this year that I'll be selling off to someone for cheap.

What do you store your hard plastic swim/glide baits in?
I have 4 of these I use for big swimbaits. They work well in a boat or kayak. https://www.tackledirect.com/plano-plab18800-z-series-tackle-wrap-bag.html

Tokyo rig in winter
I just drug it, no hops or shaking, just straight, slow pulls.

that's it. i am not starting any more friendships with retired people or teachers.
I use to be the guy that made my friends jealous when I was on midnights and went fishing a lot of mornings after I got off work. Since I got my new spot at work and started working "regular hours", it's a lot more work and way less play ?

How many rods?
I did this with my Stratos almost immediately. It went from being able to hold 15 and a 7.5' rod being a struggle, to easily fitting double the amount and 8' swimbait rods fitting with ease. Really happy with the decision to remove it.

How many rods?
Kayak holds up to 10, usually have 7-8. Not sure how many the boat holds, I'd guess around 3 dozen and it's usually full. Tend to have 10-15 on the deck. I'm a junk fisherman through and through.

4lb Line Choice- P-Line CXX or Izorline CXX?
I've had really good luck with this stuff for trout. Caught a few up to almost 7lbs on the 4lb test and it handled them with no issues. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/trout-magnet-sos-monofilament-line?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=BPS|Shopping|Smart|Fishing|General|NAud|TopPerf|NMT&gclid=Cj0KCQiA14WdBhD8ARIsANao07jHBBX0LFjoIF6djEqhouOcBKAlNJYwRJaQXEpCiknb1qb8Jrf61UMaAt8zEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Crappy Imitators
But then you'll look at how much it cost and like me even less ? It's a KGB Crappie and it cost as much as a lot of rod and reel combos that we use.

I got a basically new DT8 out of the very top of a tree branch one of the last times I was out that had probably 20 yards of braid attached to it. I have an 18' lure retriever, plus the height of my boat deck, plus my probably 7ish feet with my arm extended above my head, and I still had to stand on top of my Optimax to barely reach that thing. I don't understand how someone misses the whole lake that badly.

Tokyo rig in winter
Winter time is about the only time I've ever caught a fish on one. I like using a creature bait or stick worm though.

I just use a very slow retrieve with them paired with a bulky trailer to allow for as slow a retrieve as possible. I've caught them in water down in the low 40's pretty well on them. The biggest key for them to be effective in cold water in my experience is some grass. If there's no grass, I'm not even going to try them.- Banjo Minnow

Welcome!- Dam/Water Information
At the lakes I fish, I look water elevation and release to see if the lake is high/low and if the water level is stable or not to get an idea of how the fish may be behaving before I even arrive at the lake. Examples would be a lake that is dropping fast, I'm going to assume those fish will be positioned off the bank and probably more main lake. A lake that is rising quickly, they might be pushing up onto the bank and towards the banks of pockets and creeks where water may run into the lake. Pomme is a fun winter time lake. Lots of little ones but there's big fish to be caught plus the chance at a muskie. I like to target the channel swing banks with A-rigs, jerkbaits, warts, and jigs in the winter time.- honest conversation here. fishing rod slipping from your hand, midcast.
Hasn't happened to me but I remember a BASS tournament several years ago when a fish just straight ripped a rod out of I believe it was Chris Lane's hands during the fight? Seems like it was mid summer and an Alabama river spotted bass that was the culprit. It was pretty wild how fast it happened.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
Forgot one action shot, working a long, shallow point. I was a couple long cast off the bank and sitting in maybe 3' of water. Big rocks, several laydowns, a few stumps, a great hidden spot that is skipped by so many people.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
She wasn't having any trouble eating, that's for sure. I think they just get so shallow in all the nasty laydowns and rocks in this lake that they tear their tails up in the process. I see a lot of ragged tails from this lake.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
Got the kayak out in the cold yesterday with another local guy. 18* at the ramp with a high in the upper 30's for the day. The wind never got too bad thankfully. As I got to my usual rock wall bank, I caught 4 dinks in short order off the point on a Ned. Not wanting to waste my time with them, I continued down the bank in search of bigger fish. 3 hours later with only 2 missed bites, also on the Ned, those dinks were sounding like a lot of fun. When we got back to them, there was fish everywhere. They were all small, I doubt we caught one over 2lbs, but we caught over 2 dozen of them off that point. I got my fill of the dinks and kicked across to find bigger fish. Found one stout one a little over 15" at the hot water outlet. Then off a shallow point, I finally found a real fish. Not quite 20" but 4.79lbs and a great fight in the shallow water. Stony managed to tail hook a carp on his Ned, thought he had a monster bass for a minute. - Chatterbait Bottom
