  1. I fish in extreme heat all summer long and have only ever had this happen with one pack, and I have a lot of Zman baits in my boat. Took them home and laid them out and they fixed themselves.
  2. I've known several guys that owned Force motors, only 1 of them is still happy they bought it.
  3. When they're popping the top like that it's usually just to breath. If you can find them laying still around cover or just below the surface, those fish are the ones that you should be able to get to bite I would think.
  4. No waterfalls here but we do have outlets from hot water power plants. A 4" Storm swimbait is my bait of choice for those fish. A spook would work too if it was possible to skip one as far as I need it to.
  5. Agreed, the Craw Fatty needs a little thicker body top to bottom and a little thinner body side to side, then I'd be happy. Something like a Havoc Chigger Craw basically.
  6. Great fish! My brother in law (kanasbassfisher08) caught his first 2 muskie ever about 30 minutes apart from each other on a Booyah Clacker buzzbait while we were bass fishing. First one ate it off his rod tip and threw water all over both of us. Second one pushed a huge wake right before that big head and mouth popped out of the water and engulfed his bait. He'd just taken the bait out of the package that night before he tied it on and it was destroyed, I think he got his monies worth though.
  7. If you choose to fish straight braid with a prop bait that's going to be a way of life you're going to have to live with. Just like if you try to fish walking baits with straight braid, your hooks are going to end up tangled in the line a lot of the time.
  8. Football jig or shakyhead
  9. Welcome!
  10. No trout or monster bass in KS either but I catch plenty of bass on swimmers including big trout colored baits.
  11. Doesn't really matter. I did well with California Craw this year. Bubblegum and PB&J were good last year.
  12. I've had both. Not impressed with the Lucky Craft so far.
  13. Sure doesn't. I've posted it at least a few times. Bet you remember it now!
  14. Clear Lake is more appealing to me.
  15. If I was still buying jigs they would be Seiberts. I used to fish a lot of Jewel jigs though.
  16. I fish all my spoons with a swivel to prevent line twist.
  17. US Boatworks or Frank's Marine in Lansing have always treated me right.
  18. Not at all, we have a ton of members that fish from canoes, kayaks, and inflatables. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/forum/10-bass-boats-canoes-kayaks-and-more/ Lots of guys that are shore bound too. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/155494-official-bank-walkers-topic/
  19. I tie my own with a skirt and a screwlock swimbait hook so I can have a weedless jig without a weedguard.
  20. Yes Generally, the outside bends are your deepest areas, and while they may have high concentrations of fish, those are often your less active fish. In-Fishermen's Doug Stange is who I adopted my river fishing technique from. Start at the bottom of the riffle (shoal). Fish that area for 30 minutes, if nothing happens move to the top of the hole for 30 minutes. Next stop is the heart of the hole for 30 minutes before moving down to the next riffle. Don't be afraid to go shallow, even when it's hot. My PB blue and flathead (both over 50 pounds), came from 3' and 5' of water in the middle of the day when the temp was flirting with triple digits. Now if you're after flatheads you'll need to find cover like logjams, broken concrete, big rocks, undercut banks, rootwads, old cars (seriously), anything they can hide under/inside. Get your bait real close to the snag and dig your feet in when you get a bite because if you don't move them fast they'll be gone. Your choice of bait sounds perfect. Big catfish are predators and like the real stuff. The stinky concoctions works well for the little guys, but rarely fools a big one. This time of year you can even target big flatheads with big jigs. A big, bulky brush jig with a big trailer hopping through a logjam will get big flatheads that are getting ready to spawn to bite.
  21. No idea what makes their lines broken instead of solid. If it were me, and I was planning on keeping fish from a body of water where both existed, I wouldn't keep a fish unless I was 100% certain what it was. So if you're fishing a body of water where you could catch either and the limits are different for the 2, you might not want to keep them unless the fish meets the requirement for either fish, or you're 100% sure what it is.
  22. Correct, and wipers can have nearly solid lines.
  23. I've been getting some off other rockpiles, but haven't hit that one much lately. Few fish on football jigs off of it though. That whole lake is a rockpile once you get off the bank a little bit Funny thing is, I usually catch my saugeyes over the mud/sand or buried up in the weeds.
