  1. Funny? No. Poor sportsmanship, yes.
  2. He's more of a Dairy Queen kinda guy
  3. Switch to braid like others have said. I have more confidence in my Bronzeye Shad than any other frog in my box.
  4. I've caught big bass all different times of day and night. Like deep said, big bass are top of the food chain predators, they feed whenever they feel like it and when the best opportunity presents itself.
  5. I have a 300E and love it but have never fished the Tatula. I'm sure that you would be just fine with the Tatula and you could also consider a Cardiff 300 if you're not against having a round reel. They're very solid reels and you could probably find one for under $100 if you look around a little.
  6. What were the water temps? Were they generating at all?
  7. That's one of the things we'd need to discuss. I can fish any evening basically as long as I stay on midnights. Obviously my nights off are a little easier on me but not the end of the world if I have to get up a little earlier and smell like a fish when I go to work
  8. I got some Christie Craw's awhile back. They're a nice bait and do make a very good jig trailer.
  9. I switch mine to Gamakatsu or Owner St 36's. Some of the Luck E Strikes come with good hooks and some don't for some reason. I got a Luck E Strike Freak awhile back with nasty sharp hooks that I fished with out of the box with no problems. Most of them seem to have thin, flimsy little hooks that even a decent sized fish will straighten out.
  10. Yep, I'm a jerkbait junky and not afraid to admit it! Those H2O jerkbaits are a really great bait for the money. Enjoy the open water, everything here froze yesterday
  11. I'll be fishing it during the day too no doubt. Sapphire blue is a great jig color during the day in stained water like you said. I do also use that head for swim jigs, although I prefer the 3/8oz for bladed jigs and the 1/4oz for swim jigs. I've had good success with sapphire blue jigs in stained water (90% of the water around here is at least stained).
  12. I don't use it anymore but I used to use it a lot for catfish and wipers and occasionally for bass. Very strong line with great knot strength and abrasion resistance. It does have pretty bad memory though.
  13. Both are great baits. I wouldn't want to have to choose between one or the other in a "You can only choose one line of squarebills" thread
  14. Tell your kid that it's their favorite cartoon character on the phone that wants to talk to them. Hand them the phone and watch the magic begin!
  15. Welcome!
  16. Watermelon purple flake is hands down my favorite but I did catch my biggest shakyhead smallmouth on green pumpkin chartreuse tail. I catch a lot of largemouth on a black/blue flake one on a shakyhead too.
  17. They've had the pegs at the closer one to me for awhile, still waiting for them to be filled. Looks like they have some good stuff coming.
  18. At least you caught something! I don't know if you ever read the Midwest Finesse blog but Ned is always talking about catching tons of fish at Lone Star when the water is really cold on "an expansive mud flat". I'm guessing from reading about it several times that he's talking about the arm with all the docks in it. Sounds like it takes some hunting but once he finds them they're often very concentrated.
  19. The bait moves side to side, the trailer moves side to side, a fishes tail moves side to side It allows the baits to work together instead of against each other. The bladed jig wants to swing side to side, while the appendages on the Pit Boss want to move up and down from the wider portion of the bait. If you rig the Pit Boss/Menace the other way, the movement of the jig causes the legs to cross over and lose some of their action, while the resistance to the trailer deadens the action of the jig. All probably very slight differences, but that's what works for me and my reasoning for why I do it
  20. I got the new one last week. I have no use for it, but my son really seems to enjoy tearing the pages out of it.
