Powell Max Users: 703C Vs. 704/705C
So, I went with the 704C and I'm glad I did. I haven't taken it out yet, but it should be fine for what I want to use it for. It balances well with a Curado e7. I'm a little surprised by how much more it seems to weigh than the 703C. Seems like a considerable jump in overall weight and even tip action for just one power heavier. At least, that's how it feels to me. I'll be able to tell more once I actually get to use it. Unfortunately, that won't be for a few days.

Which12# Yozuri On A Bc, Ultra Soft Or Hybrid
The color of the ultra soft is a plus if you like to watch your line, for sure. I just used some hybrid today. Great line, definitely. Can't go wrong with either ultra soft or hybrid. I like both of them a little bit more than CXX. The hybrid seems almost as strong.

Powell Max Users: 703C Vs. 704/705C
I prefer 7' rods. Last year, a 6'6" MHF Quantum Tenacity combo from Dick's handled the frogging I did as well as texas rigs and jigs. I've narrowed it down to the 704c or 705c Powell, I just want to know if there's a big jump in weight, balance and backbone from the 703 to 704 before I jump up to the 705. I like the Powell so much I'd get both if I could

Powell Max Users: 703C Vs. 704/705C
I wouldn't say the amount of frogging would be sparse, it just wouldn't be in really heavy cover. Only good ol' Pennsylvania lily pads

Powell Max Users: 703C Vs. 704/705C
So, I recently got a 703c and love it and already want to get another. I'd like to get something a little stronger, but retain the light weight and balance. If I go the 704 route, will I see much of a difference from the 703? I don't fish a ton of heavy slop or mats, but it might see some frog use on lily pads every now and then. But I need to keep it versatile.

Which12# Yozuri On A Bc, Ultra Soft Or Hybrid
I've not used Hybrid yet, but I've used Ultra Soft #12 on my Citicas and loved it. It's not as stiff as CXX, which I liked. I have a spool of Hybrid I just got, but I'm not ready to change line just yet. Hopefully I'll have a better answer in a week or two. But I think you'd be fine using Ultra Soft.

Powell Max 703Cef And 695Cef Question
The Max squarebill is the TW special Lintner signature rod, but there's a 695 in the Endurance series, too. I was curious if the one he was talking about was the TW model or the Endurance. I'm thinking about picking up the TW squarebill special.

Powell Max 703Cef And 695Cef Question
Is that the Endurance or the Max Squarebill special sold at TW? I'm mostly interested in the latter.

Powell Max 703Cef And 695Cef Question
Anyone have both of these or know both of these well enough to compare the two in terms of weight/balance? I'm familiar with the 703 and thinking of another rod and trying to decide if the 695 is comparable in terms of how light and balanced it feels in the hand. Thanks!

Strike King or Xcaliber square bill cranks ?
I haven't tried the Xcalibers, but I've already caught fish this year on the Sk 1.5's here in chilly PA. I've been tempted to pick up some of the Xcaliber ones, though. The SK's are so hard to find now anyway.

Veritas vs Vendetta vs Mojo bass
I have 2 Veritas and they're both nice. I also have one Mojo Bass, used to have 2 of those as well. St. Croix rods are very well made through all series, but the Veritas is lighter and better balanced, to me. I love my 6'9" MHXF Veritas the most. One thing I do have to say about them is that quality control could improve a bit. If you buy one in the store, look it over really well and make sure the guides are straight and not overly covered in epoxy, and that there are no ridges or flaking in the finish between the handle and first guide. That said, at that price point, the rods are really nice. The Vendetta rods are also really nice, especially for only $80. And they're not white!

Falcon rods in Western PA area?
No worries. I'd like to check them out, but doubt I could get down to Charleston before the sale is over.

Falcon rods in Western PA area?
Any of them, really. I want to know if they're as light as they claim. I'm mainly interested in the 6'10" H and MH. And I didn't even know Tackle Unlimited existed... thanks for the info! They don't have Falcon rods, but I want to check the place out.

Falcon rods in Western PA area?
I've been to all the nearby Gander Mountain stores from Washington, PA, to Johnstown, PA and none of them have Falcon rods in store. They're also not on the GM website. Bass Pro has them on their website, but not in the Harrisburg store.

Falcon rods in Western PA area?
I meant to post this in the Rods, Reels, Line and Knots section. Sorry!

Falcon rods in Western PA area?
Anybody know a place in the Western PA/Ohio/West Virginia area that sells Falcon Bucoo baitcasting rods? I'd really like to see some in person. I know Cabelas has the Cara T7 series and they're really nice but I'd like to see the Bucoo's. I also called Bass Pro in Harrisburg, but they said they didn't carry Falcon baitcasters in the store.

Anybody fish the Susquehanna around Lock Haven, PA, and west?
I go up to the Lock Haven area a couple times a year, but I've never fished there. Not sure if anyone fishes for smallmouth in that area or even further west or not.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid questions
I also have a question about Hybrid... I know the Ultra soft is optimized for spinning reels, but is it also good on baitcasters?

Copolymers for topwater?
So, I got some 12# CXX and spooled up yesterday for some practice casting. It had so much memory and coiling even after several long casts, and tying a palomar knot was tough because the line was so stiff. I'm sure it's strong line and abrasion resistant, but doesn't seem right for me. I'll give it another shot once the weather is a bit warmer, but it looks like I'm definitely going to try some other copolys. Gamma is next on my list, followed by Floroclear and Hybrid.

Copolymers for topwater?
Anybody ever try Gamma copolymer? They're a local company and it's easier to find here in Pittsburgh than Yo-Zuri. P-Line is not hard to find at all, though.
-
Copolymers for topwater?
So the Yo-Zuri Hybrid, and some other copolymers, probably has a slower sink rate than straight fluorocarbon, which would make it ok for topwater use? If so, I'll definitely try it out. Can't beat the price, for sure.

Copolymers for topwater?
Good or bad idea? I was thinking about trying Yozuri this year for various applications. Anybody use it, or other copolymer lines, for topwater?

Just for fun fishing tourney in PA
Drove around Yellow Creek today in hopes to find some open spots to fish from shore, but absolutely no luck. I figured as much, but had to check it out to be sure! I can't wait to toss some line!

Duckett Rods
I looked at the Duckett rods again and the one with a wonky guide had a chip in the epoxy/coat on just that one guide. The dozen or so other rods I checked out were fine. They're probably the lightest rods I've ever held. I might have to pick one up at some point. The 7'3" MH was a bit lighter and better balanced than my 6'8" MXF Mojo Bass.
