  1. Basically all the wireless carriers have the same or very similar phones. A lot of them the only difference is the name of the phone. As for the 1400 on the phones. I had been using a Garmin phone, which is one of the most durable smart phones I have ever owned. Anyway after 2 yrs it started having software issues. It lock up and freeze up. Since I had never had anything other than software issues I had canceled my insurance on it, and was just going off the warranty. T-Mobile shipped me out another Garmin under my warranty and it was broken. Sent it back and recieved 2 more that also had major issues. I bit the bullet and used my upgrade for a MyTouch. Cost me $199 with the upgrade. Five days after getting said phone, I dropped it off my lap, it fell 3ft to the ground and the case cracked and the screen shattered. Having forgotten to put insurance back on my account I was SOL. Went back to the store and paid full price 499 for a HTC of some kind. Was going back to the store the next day for a protective case, and it fell out of my pocket and into a puddle. I had misplaced my wallet so I couldnt get insurance put on the account the previous day. Returned to T-Mobile and purchased my HTC Sensation. Again for the full price of 599 this go around. Still didn't have my license so couldn't sign up for insurance. Found my license 3 wks later and went to get insurance put on the phone and was informed that because it had been over 2 wks I could no longer insure my phone. It now has an otter box and a pretty much bullet proof screen protector on it so it virtually break proof now. With my wife upgrading her phone over the summer that put me up to 1400 dollars. As for the longevity of said phone, since I'm not currently doing heavy industrial, I seem to be getting more life from the phone. Smart phones and most phones just are not designed for that kind of work invironment. However I do have a 1st generation Motorola Razor that has been run over by my truck twice, dropped 60 ft to a concrete floor, fallen in the lake twice and the toilet 3 times, as well as used as a teething toy by my son. That still works as if it were brand new.
  2. So T-Mobile has finally gone too far. I'm through with them now. We are buying our contracts out and going elsewhere. The question is where? As much as I hate to say it of the big 4 tmo seems to have the cheapest rate plans. Verizon appears to be more expensive then all the others. With AT&T and Sprint being about the same cost wise. Here's what we are looking for in a provider. Cost plays a decent part but is negotiable. Service coverage is important, but seems to be about the same throughout the state. Coverage in the country parts of the state can be kind of sketchy regardless of co. 4g service is preferable but not a deal breaker. Phones are pretty much the same regardless of carrier so that's not an issue. Unlimited web is a high priority at least for my phone. I don't ever really use a computer. My phone serves as a computer and everything else. Lastly the biggest two factors. Customer Service. Having the greatest phone, plan, service, etc is worthless if the customer service is non exsistant. The last is more of a question. Contract or non contract? Getting the latest greatest phone every 2yrs at a discount is pointless if the phone doesnt last 2yrs. that's part of why I'm leaving T-Mobile. I've spent close to 1400 dollars this past year on phones, cause I didn't qualify for an upgrade. And they wouldn't give me insurance because appearently you have to register for it 2 weeks after purchasing a phone, and they neglect to tell you that. So basically out of the big 4 which do yall prefer. And what pros and cons have yall experienced with them.
  3. Carp you say? Bow, Arrow, and Reel. I shot a 30 lb carp in the lake at my cousins apartment the other day. Made a pretty penny off Mr Carp as well.
  4. Also are you working a slower bait after one hits? If you like working the crank slower through the same area may make a difference. Generally though throwing a jig or plastic after the first catch in that area will get any sluggish bass that may be lurking there.
  5. Let's see..... What's the depth? Is there structure? Are there weed edges? Where are the fish hitting, ie off the structure, on weed edges, etc. What depths are they generally hitting at? At what retrieve speed are they hitting? Have the fish gotten used to seeing certain presentations all the time? It could be that a different presentation or variation in retrieve will set them back on the bite. Sometimes when fishing my smaller ponds ie five acres or less. I have noticed that the bass will sort of spread out more than in a larger pond or in a lake. There are times when they'll school up but only 1 or 2 will bite. Regardless of what you throw at them. Probably the most helpful thing you can do is keep a log, while your fishing. Record date, time, temp (air and water), weather patterns that have recently occured or are occuring. Where when and what lure, retrieve, and speed you were fishing. After a few weeks or several trips out a pattern will start to emerge. Sometimes writing it out and actually being able to see it helps make it appearent or helps you notice something you missed. If you want any tricks I've picked up on or developed on crank baits let me know and ill pm them to you. I would post for all to see, but I've worked my tail off learning all I can about that lure so currently its privleged information.
  6. There is a particular pond I fish a lot that has heavy heavy pressure on it. It is fished almost all day during the week and all night during the weekends. It sits between the road and has three steep hills surrounding the other sides. One of the hills is about a 60* slope and the other two run flat for about thirty yards back from the pond then start up at a 45* slope. The pond isn't but maybe ten or twelve acres in size. Anyway. I was always told that there used to be 8+ lb bass in this pond, but no one had caught anything over 3lbs in about 7 years. This was told to me by both locals and friends. Well on my second month of fishing this pond and catching mostly 2 and 3lbrs. I figured out through my wonderful skills in observation what most everybody was throwing. So I went and threw something entirely different then what they were using and wham I got drilled by a 6lbr. It absolutely astounded the people a little further down the tree line when they saw that fish. I never did tell them what I was using and have kept an outside the box perspective on what I throw there and when I throw it. To my knowledge I'm currently the only one that fishes there that catches the fish over 3lbs. Outside the box fishing can be a very good thing.
  7. Shhhhhhhh. Naw you dont wanna do that. It's hot and humid enough to kill an elephant. Tell all your friends and family also. The South is a terrible place to go or to live.
  8. 700 on fishing gear over the course of the summer ain't nothing. Heck I used to spend more than that in a month just partying in college. Probably has a lot to do with why I was asked to leave. However seeing as how I dont party or do much of anything aside from fish and shoot anymore. My wife pretty much leaves me alone about how much I spend on my fishing. At the same time though it helps to be reasonable and not break the bank on what you buy. Basically its all about compromise. She has her hobby and I have mine. We don't spend more than what we can afford and everything works out fine. I can't get my wife to fish with me, try as I might. However she ALWAYS shoots with me. Girl is scary good with any form of handgun or assault rifle. She isn't worth a flip with a scoped rifle, but she really isn't to interested in learning how to shoot and compensate with one. But she knocks holes in a quarter at fifty yards with her AK47 with iron sites. I remember the first time we ever went to the range. I had bought her a .22 target pistol so as not to scare her away from the sport. After about twenty minutes she got bored with it, and grabbed up my Glock .45. Ol girl started going to town on some silluettes with it. She was hitting 3in groups at 25 yards. It was her first experience with firearms. We were getting ready to leave and I had set up one more target and was calling shots out to her. She shot a smiley face on it then said this is my last round watch where I put it. Girl drilled that target dead center in the lower region. We still have that target upstairs. That range trip was the moment I knew that I had found and married not only the perfect woman, but also my best friend.
  9. Others may disagree with me on this, but throw some cranks at em. Fish em slow, fast, medium speed just change it up. Try a chart. or fire tiger color. Run em along the bottom and threw the water column. I have met very few fish that can resist a nice noisy crankbait. Once you locate said fish with the crank, throw a jig or plastic in and around that area to clean it out. I catch them on cranks year round and have more confidence in them than any other lure.
  10. My PB came from one of the ponds at the plant I used to work at. Back when it was the SAKS 5th ave. Warehouse, corporate office, distribution, and fashion show building the CEO had the pond stocked with bass and sunfish. This was maybe twelve or more years ago. When they shut the place down 5 or 6 years ago, everyone quit fishing it. Some locals fished it but that was pretty much it. When we started building the Pharmacy. plant that is there now, we discovered this pond. Now to the story. I had gotten off work about an hour early last fall and decided to go beat the banks. We were demoing a building at a different location so I had missed my lunch time fishing that day. I had gone back to a shallow cove that I generally had good luck in, and started throwing a Texas Rigged RI Big Unit at the downed trees and stumps on the opposite bank. I was pitching at a standing dead tree and letting the bait drop alongside it when she struck. I went to reel in my bait and i thought I had snagged a log. I jerked the rod to try an free my bait and this monster fish exploded out of the water. We fought back and forth for a good 6 or 7 minutes before I got her close enough to the bank to lip her. She weighed in at 9lbs 4oz. We had always seen some big dang fish out there, but this was the first one any of us had caught that weighed over 5lbs. Since then the locals have removed a decent amount of the sub 3 lb bass and a good quantity of the million plus sunfish from the pond. My buddy and I have seen some monster fish that have got to be over the 10 lb Mark swimming around in there. I've hooked one of them and my hook straighend when I tried to rod lift him instead of using my hand or a net. Looking at it though that fish was way over 10lbs. Ive seen my pb swimming around in there too, she has a black spot by her gill so I know its her. She's gotten even bigger too. And the wierdest thing about it all I have never caught another fish within a five yard radius of that tree since, regardless of what Im throwing.
  11. I think I can manage the hour and a half drive for this. Now that I know I won't be the only one camping, I believe I'm gonna have to go. Cant get much closer than this. Now to fill out the form.....
  12. Happy Birthday Homie. It's been kinda odd without you on here.
  13. That's him. The old man just confirmed it for me. It always shocks me how many people he knows. He was just tellin me he went fishing with him a couple times, and said Taco was catching 4 to every 1 that he caught. Said that man could find em, catch em, and bag em like it was nothing.
  14. Since I rooted my HTC, I haven't had any problems with lag or battery life. Not that I had lag before, but battery life is bad on most all smartphones. I'd say go for the Droid over the iPhone. You can still get otter boxs and what have you for them. You can listen to and save your music to said device. Plus the operating system seems to work better. However I may be a bit biased seeing as how I can't stand Apple products, and dont really care for the "lifestyle" they seem to push. But that's just MY opinion. And the biggest plus. If your unhappy with the default Android OS, root the phone and change it.
  15. Me and the oldman were hanging out in the garage the other day. An he mentioned a friend he used to work with that had become a BASS pro. This was back in the late seventies or eighties. He was curious if any of yall had ever heard of him. He went by the name "Taco". I can't remember his full name, but will get it from my pops tommorow.
  16. Least us Raiders fans look classy when we paint up.
  17. My father and I started collecting them when I was either five or six. We had close to twenty books filled up, when I quit at twelve. I shudder to think of how much those would be worth now. You see a certain family member who was strung out on oxy's swooped them when he came home from college on a break. He is now one year sober, but he sold them back then. We didn't notice they were gone until he told us he traded em for smack, after he was home for good. I love the boy to death, but this still irritates the mess outta me.
  18. LOL!!!! Snappy!!! That's hilarious. Yes, I have had one try an attack me. He kept hitting the crankbait I was throwing, and eventually followed it back to where I was standing. My bait hung on a small branch and when I reached down for it Mr. Turtle, whom I hadn't noticed yet, snapped at my hand. Missed it by about four inches. Shot him with my .44, and now he doesn't move anymore.
  19. I just got over that yesterday. Hope u get to feeling better.
  20. I've never heard that before. That's hilarious.
  21. 330 back in October. I'm down to 289 right now. Once I start heavy on the diet next week, it should come off quickly.
  22. 1. Fishing 2. Trying to finish a better working prototype of a lure my friend, and I designed. Thing catches fish like crazy. We just need to make it more durable. 3. Hunting coons 4. Hunting Coyotes. Man pays us 25 dollars for each one we bring him. 5. Loseing the 60 lbs of fat the doctor wanted me to lose, then packing on thirty five pounds of muscle. 6. Training for the January 2013 tough guy challenge.
  23. You aren't kidding. That post totally brightened my day earlier when I read that. Thanks for the well wishes and wittiness.
  24. After the first quarter I went and puked, either from being sick or from the game, probably was both. Changed the channel, and felt better til about fifteen minutes ago.
