  1. Yet one more reason I dislike spiders. At the pharmaceutical plant we built a year back, the place had to have been infested with them, we had twelve contractors bitten over a two month period. By Brown recluse's. After the last guy got bit the spider bites stopped. Never saw another one out there. Now if I can find the picture to post here. We found a Black Widow inside one of the gate housings that had a body the size of a nickle, that's excluding legs. That was the most terrifying thing I have ever seen. My buddies hand was inches away from that thing before we saw it.
  2. Naw, you just met the Yankee hating southern bugs. Seriously though. We got some hardcore bugs down here. I remember when I was about ten or eleven. My cousin and I were playing under the house and we came across the most gnar dog spider I have ever seen. This thing had caught and killed a four inch lizard. Dang lizard was just hanging in the web. Never ventured back under there after that. Plus we got those dang palmetto bugs here too. Dang things look like a roach on steroids. Make one HECK of a crunch when you swat em.
  3. Gotta love Verizon. Did you have Ur stuff saved to the sd or directly to the phone? I will give Verizon this though. They are usually real good about either fixing or replacing handsets. Be it your fault or the phones.
  4. LOL too funny. Dude I got enough ammo to last a year. It's all vacuum sealed and packed away, for when the chaos shall break loose. Anyway, I don't know the first thing about investing, stocks, bonds, or whatever all that stuff is. The only form of investing that holds an interest for me is commodities. Or whatever various metals, ie. gold, silver, copper, platinum, aluminum, and steel (stainless and carbon) would be under. I work with metals and electricity, so it has both an interest and a relevence to what I'm doing. Any info you have or advice on figuring this out would be great.
  5. My sister had that happen last year. Tech support couldn't unlock it due to the code only being stored on the phone. She had to get a new phone if I recall correctly. However, the sim still worked so she didn't lose all her contacts and what not. Best advice I have is do a hard reset. Pull the battery out for 60secs and then reinsert and see if that helps. Otherwise I dunno. Best of luck to ya.
  6. Uhhhhh........ I'll just stick with the Alabama method. Put the gold in a mason jar and bury it. Long as the gophers keep away, its the safest investment you can make.
  7. What the hell is THAT?!?!?! I've seen some weird bugs under houses, but that tops them all. Must be some kinda Yankee bug. Glad I'm in the South. Also glad I don't do residential electrical anymore. Industrial is so much nicer. No crawl spaces and whatever may be living in them to deal with.
  8. I got family that still lives around there. They said it has gone down the tube. If I recall most of them are moving to other areas of Michigan now. They also said to avoid Flint when up there. My old man spent the first 10 years of his life living in Flint. Apparently its worse off then Detroit.
  9. Well that shot down my Calcutta suggestion then. I have had great experiences with the 50e. As I have never used or really looked at revo's I can't really give a comparison between the two. The ones I had worked great and casted very smoothly. They are durable and seem to be able to withstand any abuse I unintentionally direct at them. I think it will work good for the techniques you have mentioned. I still think you should go with a Calcutta. However, I believe you will really like the curado. plus at that price its gonna be hard to beat it. Oh and be careful, I hear those Shimano reels can really be addicting.
  10. All the more reason to be straight edge. XSXEX Naw I'm just funnin ya. If you woulda kept drinking u wouldn't be hung over.
  11. I don't recall anyone steering him towards overly expensive gear. He said he liked st Croix and people advised him on which ones were decent. I also don't recall anyone telling him to get an overly expensive reel. So ease up there. And yes you are right about being able to get a decent combo for around a hundred bucks. You are correct about quantum having some decent priced reels as well. Also true that bass don't know nor do they care how much said combo cost. However you do get a increased amount of sensitivity in a medium to higher end rod. As well as better components. How about being helpful and giving him some names of more affordable rods.
  12. If they still make em, they are IMO better than an iPod. Only reason I still have a iPod is cause my younger brother have me one of his, when my old one broke. Unless the iTunes rules have changed since I last was on there in january, then their music rights garbage sucks.
  13. 220 is a excellent starting point. And there is cheaper stuff that works just as well. As I said in my edited post. Check out the flea market for some deals on reels and rods. There isn't a dang thing wrong with a used reel or rod that is in good condition. St Croix makes some good rods, from what I've been told. Personally I have never used one so I can't really vouch for them. As far as baitcasting I'd check out the pro qualifier reels from Bass Pro. I have thoroughly enjoyed mine. It's a dang good reel for the money. Or if you can find an e7 curado that is on sale, assuming there are still some to be had, those are awesome reels. Especially for the price they have been selling them at. As for spinning I've been using a Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Signature series reel. I think it works very well and really like it. Someone else can probably guide you better as far as spinning reels and rods go. Like I said I very rarely fish with them. As for baitcasting rods. St. Croix, H20 express Ethos (if you have an academy sports near by), ABU Garcia Veritas and Vendetta, the bass Pro Shops Carbonlite. Those are my rod recommendations. Those are all within the 70 to 100 dollar price range. Other people will have some different ones for ya. Just do a little research on the different rods and reels that are out there. Read the customer reviews, search through the forum here for reviews also. And lastly don't be afraid to ask questions about what you have seen or read. Everyone here was new once as well, and they will be more than happy to help you out, and answer your questions.
  14. First and foremost, Welcome. Now for your question. I use a medium heavy rod for topwaters and cranks, as well as for jigs, and most plastics. I use a medium for my finesse fishing and small cranks. Seeing as how I can catch a thing with spinner baits I can't help you on that. Everyone's opinion will vary as to what length and action they use. I've just found that medium heavy seems to be the all around choice. For instance, I use a 7'6" moderate fast for my top waters and medium depth cranks. My fishing partner uses a 7' fast for his cranks and a 6'6" fast for his topwaters. It all comes down to what you length you are comfortable with. A longer rod will also tend to cast farther than a shorter rod. However if you are bank fishing, around a lot of shore based vegetation a longer rod will tend to be more limited in the cast you can make. With your question about finesse fishing. That again is a matter of preference. I use a baitcaster for all but the lightest of my lures, for which I use a spinning set up. Everyone has an opinion on what to use and what works best. As for spinning and baitcasting, again it comes down to personal preference. A baitcaster is going to take time and practice to become sufficient with. Whereas a spinning reel is easier and to cast and takes little or no practice to start chucking baits. (accuracy with a spinning reel will take some practice) As for what rods and reels to get, what price range are you looking at? Will you be fishing from the shore or a boat? I wouldnt get the cheapest thing you can find, but don't buy the most expensive thing out there either. Quality can be had at an affordable price range. The flea market on this site is a good place to look. There are some amazing deals to be had there.
  15. Crankbait. I can catch em anytime of the year on one. It never has failed me. Doesn't matter if its brush, grass, timber, or anything else. I can get with a crank. On the rare occasion that isn't working for me, or when I'm clearing out the spot, ill go with a t-rig or a jig.
  16. I want one I want one. Can you make it in purple for me?
  17. I'd say wait and buy the Apple. You definitely get the most bang for your buck. However as everyone else is stating, go talk with the people at best buy about it. I know you'll get a biased answer but go to the Apple store too. Another thought, what about a tablet, don't they do every thing a laptop does?
  18. Makes me happy to live in Alabama. What is a snow blower? And what exactly is snow shoveling? I've never heard of such things.
  19. Apple makes a very good laptop, but they are VERY proud of them. What's your price range?
  20. Tell Mr Tournament Angler to bugger off. I fish oxbows a ton. As a matter of fact that's where I learned to bass fish at. I like to practice and refine my techniques in those and my ponds. Beats driving an hour and a half to the big lake. Seeing as how I've won the four tournaments my partner and myself have entered this year. I would say he is completely full of it.
  21. Status update.... The mother in law has now gotten involved. When Big Mama steps in things are usually pretty bad. This has gotten way out of hand, amongst those three. Glad I'm heading out to go fishing now.
  22. Since I've started packing a rifle with me, I haven't had another person come within a hundred yards of where I'm fishing. Must be something about the three hundred pound man wearing camo from head to toe, with a .308 strapped to his back and a machete on his waist. That keeps people away. I believe it is natures way of saying back off.
  23. Awwwwww SNAP!!! LOL
  24. Used to use a fusion on my face and mach3 on my head. Now I stick with my great great granddads straight razor. It's the closest shave I have ever gotten in my life. I can do all but the back of my head with it. My wife takes care of that for me. Sometimes she'll even do my face and entire head. How many of Yall have a wife that's willing to help u shave?
