Optimum place for Carolina Rigging
Deep water structure in any conditions. 8-) Check out the "best of" section. You will find much good info there about C-rigging .

How many rods?
3 casting and 2 spinning on deck usually, with a couple more in the box. My wife often fishes with me, and she will have 2 more casting in back.

Which Shimano Reel is Better?
Once you get used to a reel with the infinite anti-revearse the Spirex will suffer by comparison IMO. I've owned two and will not be buying any more.

First Boat - More Rods or a Depthfinder?
I am in the electronics camp. You can and will add more tackle as time goes on if you are like most of us. Good electronics will do far more for you than just give water depth. You will be amazed by what you can see. Even if you know the water and have fished it many times, quality electronics will show you why some spots always seem to hold fish, and allow you to find other similar spots. You will not regret buying the best electronics you can afford. I use inexpensive rods and reels and I fish from an aluminum boat. I cut corners when and where I can, but not when it comes to trolling motors and electronics. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Extra spool?
You haven't given enough info for anyone to answer your question. You might as well ask where can you can buy a backup alternator for your car engine.

Think my line is still good?
I would spray it down again prior to use. It should be just fine.

BPS Pro Qualifier
I am a BPS fan. I am a huge fan of the PQ and many of their soft plastics. Most of the stuff I buy is from the local store (3 hours round trip). I have always been satisfied with the service. Buying on-line from them is sometimes necessary, but their shipping costs and delivery times compared to Tackle Warehouse are not very good. I would insist on speaking to a manager and explain the issue to him. I would expect them to do the right thing.

casting accuracy?
This usually ends up with something like, "I can pitch a jig into a shot glass at 125 feet, in a pouring rain and 35 MPH winds." : I think I do OK until I fish with someone who is really good. There are some very good casters out there. I am not one of them. Watch a pro pitch a crankbait into heavy cover. It is a thing of beauty. I am getting better though. 8-)

It's Back..Do you have what it takes?
I am not sure I have the brain cells or patience for this game. I will try again later. :

Gear ratios on baitcasters.
Thanks K_Mac. I guess one has to understand this ratio stuff since the PQ is available in a whopping 4 different ratios... The 29 and 26 IPT of the two faster versions are all I need. 8-) I am not a deep crankbait guy. I know they catch fish, but I fish for fun and am just not interested in a technique I don't enjoy. FWIW I think the 6.4:1 at 26 IPT is the perfect general purpose ratio.

1/8oz Spot Remover, any reviews?
Spot Removers are my favorite shakey head jigs. I use the 1/8 oz most of the time, unless it is too windy. I then use 3/16 or 1/4. The 1/8 oz have 3/0 hooks. I have a very high hook-up percentage with them. I have not used the Shake2 jigs, so I can't compare the two.

10 mistakes amateur anglers make
There are some common themes that have already been posted. We have a tendendcy ot make a lot of the same mistakes. I think lack of preparation may be the biggest sin. I fish with, and talk to people all the time who just do what they have always done. The idea of spending time reading and studying off the water, and taking time to study electronics, try new techniques, and explore different locations on the water, just doesnt seem to register with a lot of folks. Not having equipment prepared is another example. When someone is having trouble casting because of a half filled spool of old cheap line, or wonder why they can't get a hook set with an old dull hook, I can't help but wonder... It is sometimes the guys who have a little experience, and think they know what they are doing that are the worst offenders. Sometimes our egos get in the way of learning. A new fisherman will usually try to follow instructions. Once we have a little success we become a little harder to train.

Gear ratios on baitcasters.
Nice job Goose52. That would make a good addition to the "best of " list.

BPS Pro Qualifier
I think you will be very happy with a PQ. 8-) I have three that I use regularly.

Shaky Head
These are what I use most of the time: http://www.***.com/Buckeye_Spot_Removers_5pk/descpage-BSR.html I'm not sure what you mean by "rapid bursts." I work them slowly, trying to shake them in place (the amount of time depends on the fish), much like a regular jig. I repeat this process through the strike zone.

sickest topwater hit i've seen
That was a very cool strike. The spinning tackle he was using looked like it was up to the job. It probably would not be my choice, but I don't know how light one of those little frogs are.

Shark--IN ILLINOIS!
DMB I catch them at Cedar all the time. ;D I used to fish the Mississippi back in the day. I never saw a shark, but you never know what you might find in a river. The first time I caught a small sturgeon I thought I had discovered a new species. :

Need Some help, looking for a lower budget spinning rod?
I'd take a look at the BPS Carbonlite. The 6'8" MXF would be my choice. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10205013_100002002_100000000_100002000_100-2-2

Same here. I almost always have one of each ready to go.

Had a run in with the Game Warden today
I would grumble and fuss, then I would buy a trout stamp.

its about to get personal
Like Uncle Leo I can't seem to stop myself from commenting. The first thing that struck me is that this is an honest and sincere question. There is not a man who has been in a monogamous relationship for more than a few years that hasn't at least thought he might be happier with a different woman. Many of us have acted on this thought. I don't know of one example of it ending well. We all have options, but there is only one reality (that which exists objectively and in fact). Your reality is a long-term relationship with a woman who cares about you, and three children for which you are responsible. I was 19 when I married, after dating for a couple of years. I have been married 34 years. I know about the girl at work. It is by God's grace that my marriage has survived. I would encourage you to contact preach4bass and listen to his counsel. I will keep you in my prayers.

Bow mount suggestion
I have a friend who has a power steer and loves it. I had one on my boat and finally gave it away. I hated it the entire time it was on the boat. With a cable control I know what direction the motor is pointed without looking, by the position of my foot. That is impossible to do with a power unit. I have had better luck with MK. Good luck.
