  1. Or...you could start building them yourself. You tube has a ton of videos, and it really pretty easy. It's something to do when it's 10 deg. Out
  2. A quick note about these rod builds. While on the phone with the sales staff they mentioned the fact they publish blue prints for all of their rod blanks. Normally I wouldn’t put much faith into blueprints published by a manufacturer, but the sales person assured me they put a lot of work into these blue prints and assured me they weren’t just a generic setup. Both of these rods were built according to the blue prints published by batson. Where are the guide spacing charts for the eternity and immortal?
  3. I started to use Mhx from mudhole, but after dealing with their high shipping prices and restocking fees when you return and item, I've went with Hydra blanks http://hydrafishing.com
  4. First off, watch this video. Then practice on a rod, that doesn't even have a guide on it
  5. What are you having problems with the guide wrapping? Have you watched any videos on guide wrapping, it's pretty easy to do.
  6. There's a lot of videos on youtube on rod building, it's a fun hobby to pass the time in the winter and it's pretty simple
  7. Rodbuilding.org is a great place to start
  8. i've seen guys comment on the 7'6" flip stick, but it's not on their website, does academy still make this rod? any other general comments about the blue rods, we don't have academy's around here.
  9. very nice!!
  10. because that's what people do on message boards!!!! this is what a message board is all about...people giving their opinions!! do you think if you posted something about ford trucks being on sale , that there wouldn't be a guy who drives a chevy that makes a comment?
  11. the one's on sale for $1.88 have been out of stock for a while now
  12. I use it everything
  13. tackle warehouse is great, i agree and fast shipping...more then i can say for bass tackle depot....slow with getting orders shipped.
  14. from NW indiana also!!
  15. I had the Powell squarebill rod and hated it, to stiff for me.
  16. Yes 3/8 ounce lead, plus trailer. The Cabelas by me doesn't have the dobyns in store.
  17. On my small scale, 1/4 ounce jig weighs more then a half an ounce with a trailer.
  18. caught at about 10 at sugema, no real big ones.... when i was leaving the DNR was there pulling the ramp out a bit so it would be dry
  19. yes it is like that where i'm at, i have no where to go test one out.
  20. fished fox valley on thursday for about an hour, water was around 66 on all three lakes i hit, fished it only for an hour because i drove a 1/2 ounce jig into my finger. if anyone has ever been to this lake, it is out in the middle of nowhere, and i was fishing by myself. so i loaded the boat and drove and hour to the hospital to get it removed. headed to lake sugema the next morning, it was a tad high fished for 10 hours, all the fish i caught were related to rock went to lake show me on staurday morning, both parking lots were full, never seen so many boats on this lake!
  21. looking for a sensitive rod to cast or pitch jigs and texas rigged plastics, most of the time it will be 3/8 ounce. most of the time i will be casting. i have been using a johnny morris 7'2 MH, and it works great for pitching, but it is horrible for casting jigs. not using it for real heavy cover, mainly for casting into wood/laydowns.
  22. to start off with while practicing, make a long cast, then peel another 15 yards of line off the spool, then put a piece of tape over your line, so when you do backlash, it's not the whole spool
  23. Wonderful report, thank you
  24. nice
