i looked at gander last night for one but they didnt have any ABU BC reels or any rods i was in shock it was the worst gander i been to not even jigs

Im cursed with not owning a boat and fishing from the shore line the prob is in this early season it seams no fish are close to the banks. i did have some luck last sunday in a stream about 20yards from the mouth of the resivor but it was also in the 70s for 4days. now its back down in the 40s and 50s. am i wasting my time fishing or just going about it all wrong. iv been throwing jigs,traps,flukes(caught the 10 last sunday on this),husky jerks,spinners. the water temp of lake ontario is 41* so the tributarys i fish are slightly warmer id guess and a local man made lake is prob the same temp. if it was like last year they would be in prespawn now and i couldent NOT catch em if i tried they were every where attacking everything. this year it just seams dead and i might also add there is NO cover no trees no stumps nothing just barron flats and occasional sand bars one spot has a good point i used to sleigh smb on but no luck this year.

I just got my taxs back after getting the run around by the IRS and my student loan company and am in the market for some new fishing gear. Im going with all Abu rods and reels basicly looking at a few lower combos then one big expensive one. i allready have a Revo sx paired with a veritas 7'6"MHF so thats my frog/jig rod. Now im looking for a rod just for plastics(t-rig) and one for spinners. I was thinking just getting 2 vendettas and orra sx for each and calling it a day or maybe a orra combo from abu and then a veritas and revo s. Now what lengths and power would you recomend for each application.

I always dream bout fishing/hunting depending on the season. i get yelled at for it though cuz my wife will ask what i dremnt about and ill say either fishing/hunting and she gets mad saying "you never dream about me" and my smart arse always fires back "you were in it just at home"

Iv been eyeing these reels up to replace some of my quantiums that are junk but i keep reading bout that AR bearing and am skeptic of it. i allready own a revo sx but want to replace all my reels with abu but cant afford all revo so the orra seems a good starting point.

depends on what i was doing if they get muddy or greasy i wash em befor i wear them again exept my work jeans ill wear the same pair all week cuz grease is inevitable as a diesel mechanic so work jeans get worn all week long. they also come off soon as i get home.

the revo SX only has magnetic

no his pole is taped together with no line lol its a old Quantium probe BC. were getting him his own this week. i didnt catch anything either. it wouldent let me put the pic up of him impailing a zoom fluke on the end of his pole lol. we went out again yesterday but he was to busy quacking at the swans lol.

So yesterday after a trip to Kay jewlers i decided i deserverd to make a few casts so me the wife and kid went fishing. the plan was she would just push the stroller around and "watch" well my son noah wouldent allow it so i gave him an old ice fishing pole and he copied me the best he could lol.

I used to fish cheaper rods and caught fish. this year i baught a veritas and its like im actualy in the water feeling what my lure feels. it is crazy sensative and am in love with it im saving to buy a few more to boot all my other rods. i handed my veritas to my nephew to try and hes a walmart only guy so most of his stuff is cheaper and he was amazed how much you could feel. befor i could just tell either rock or grass now i can feel if that rock has a crack in it of if its just pea gravel etc.

Any one else having luck in NY im in WNY got a trout last week but no bass till yesterday april 10. after a long weekend at Ft. drum i got home stoped at my inlaws to see my nephew heading out on the 4 wheeler so i grabed my stuff and went to. I got i think 9 i lost count cuz they were one right after another. no big ones mostly dinks biggest was 1.5 maybe only took a pic of the very first he was tiny but still first LMB of the year. the first one was on a jig and paca craw trailer the remainder were on J7 rapalas and weightless flukes dead sticked. they were also in very shallow water ranging from 3ft to 6inches in the stream feeding the resevor holding tight to cover and in current brakes.

On another note I went there for lunch today befor makng a few casts in the lake and the same lady was there that set the pumps along with the owner im sure she still has her job shes been working there sense I was in school going on 10+ yrs her son graduated with me. So no one got fired im sure if they were gonna get fired they would of been now.

They knew it was only messed up for 5 min tops they couldent stop everyone from pumping but soon as ya stoped the pump shut down and was locked out it was just the lucky 6 of us that got there at the right time.

Id hope there not missing I just got it BNIB the thing casts flawlessly

So yesterday I went to put gas in our car usualy only put $20 in at a time. so im sitting there pumping and its going painfuly slow just rediculous. so im looking at the pump after like 2 min and im only at .90 cents at this point im about to hang the pump up and leave, till i notice iv pumped 3gallons. They accidently set the pumps at .383 a gallon instead of 3.83 a gallon. the truck infront of me same thing .38cents a gallon. the gas station quickly filled up with people taking advantage of the screw up. i filled my tank for $6.22 for 16gallons so so so nice bout time i caught a break.

I also just got a new Revo SX and noticed the same thing that you gotta crank the knob down but then I loosened it all the way to practice putching/flipping then forgot and bombed a 3/4oz swim jig. I figgured it would back lash but nope it flew for ever and I have the mag brakes set at 50%. I heard the reels are finiky about back lashes but iv been fine with mine.

frogs,plastics,jigs, or spinners depending how many pads there are but iv got bass by casting a spinner to far and right ontop of thick mated pads they musta thought it was a frog or something talking on the pads.

considering I have 2 360 boxes dedicated to frogs i love em and have alot of luck on them great for pike too just dont last long. I used to have the issue of missing hooksets as well when first started I think I went a year with out a single hook up. Then I took the time and started pausing or not even watching the lure just going by feel and my ratio shot up I almost never miss now.

I got mine at Gander originaly a 6'6" MH then went to dicks and they had one and only one it so happend to be a 7'6" MH casting rod exactly what i was looking for so i explained to the guy in the lodge i just bought one at gander but really want the 7'6. He agreed that the 7'6" would be better and allowed me to do a even swap sense the price was the same.

I have one it was given to me with a pfluger echlon on it its pretty good too short for my liking its a 6'M so I dont use it that much but when I do I like it.

I ended up going with a 7'6" veritas MH threw the new revo sx hs on it and 50# PP. The thing is so light and sensative I used it yesterday for the first time omg was it nice casts a mile if a fish farts on the lure i'll feel it its crazy. I sold my old O/U combo shotgun at the gun show this weekend and am gonna pick up a few more revos and veritas with the money from the gun.

Iv been reading alot about the sawing effect because im also looking at switching from lead. could you just take a small drill bit and hone them yourself or even take some valve laping compound for engines and a small rod and lap your weights? maybe its to much work for some but for otheres who like to save a buck could do it

Then why do so many people use leaders with braid why not just use braid all day ever day even in clear water. Personaly I agree that it doesnt matter I used to worry about it but then I started catching smallmouth on jigs in the local lake thats gin clear with 50lb braid and a snap tied on the end. Completly against how I usualy fish but its all I had and I wanted to hit the water quick.

I throw mostly black and occasionaly white. I start by fishing them slow dead slow just enough to keep it ontop of the water. As the fish dictate I start to burn them as fast as I can all depends. if there just chasing and not bitting I crawl them slow if there hammering it putting on a show i make it scream across the top like a jet. As far as size I got some little bitty ones that are like 1/8th oz maybe there small like 1.5" or smaller and I got the monster dual 2 and 3 blade types. Funny thing is my itty bitty ones catch me more and bigger fish and the big loud clacky ones catch me dinks

I live 45min from there but never fished it sadly no boat and good fishing right here in tributarys maybe this year ill rent a boat and go out.
