  1. I've never seen somebody fishing any of the golf courses around me but have always considered doing it myself. How do you guys go about getting permission to do so? Or do you just go fish it and hope your not asked to leave? Good luck wherever your at & I hope you get her. Our records 34 years old but theirs gotta atleast be a 10lb15oz out there somewhere!
  2. I got a backpack at the beginning of the season after having a regular soft tackle bag for the past few years. It's one of the best fishing related purchases I've made IMO. Can't go wrong with a backpack especially when your one of those guys that carry wayyy too much stuff like myself.
  3. I like using craw style trailers. My favorite is the Netbait Paca Chunk because they're durable & inexpensive.
  4. Thanks I was asking because I've only used normal frogs which I usually walk or burn back to me. These are harder to get that side to side action so I've been using them more like a regular popper.
  5. I just picked up a couple of these a few weeks ago, black & white. Only threw it a few times and the few fish I've caught have been from letting it sit. May I ask how you guys are working these?
  6. What knot are you using to tie your leader? I use braid & tie a leader when I feel is necessary.
  7. I always use a leader for any finesse or slow moving baits and tie direct to cranks & such.. It may just be a confidence thing though. Oh & I use a leader a little shorter than the rod so I can reel my bait up without the knot entering the spool.
  8. I don't know, 2 y/o. The creek was right in our back yard so I imagine I was out whenever I could be used as an excuse. I remember catching sunfish, crappie & little bass. Eventually the creek flooded the house & we moved. From age 7 on I never had somebody around to do those things but have always lived within a mile from the river so around age 12 I started cat fishing by myself & with a few friends. I didn't really get into bassfishing until I was 17 or 18 and it's been a big learning curve over the past 5-6 years but I'm hooked. (pun intended)
  9. ^19-20lb with the average bag running 13-15lb. Of course I could be wrong living here my whole life and fishing the river almost daily I'd be shocked at anything over 20lb. & I mean daily. 3 days I'd say 50lb top closer to 45.
  10. +1 on checking ebay that's where most of my hardbaits have come from..
  11. I have no doubt that's a chain pickerel they're all over here.
  12. Nice fish! I have a difficult time in these weather conditions but sounds like you had a good morning.
  13. 1/4oz Bitsy Bug jig in black&blue with paca chunk trailer.
  14. ^This. I also tend to use 4/0 for 5" & 6" senkos and find june bug to be the most productive in dark water. I have to disagree with the post about crankbaits & other fast moving baits being easier. If your just throwing it out and reeling it in chances are your missing the opportunity to catch some more fish. Can't count how many fish I've gotten letting a spinnerbait fall and ripping it across the bottom or bouncing a square bill off submerged timber or even letting it sit there.. but to each there own.
  15. 50lb PP should be fine. Try a monofilament or some braided line. Flouro sinks & tends to make using most top water lures difficult to use. Or if the rods used to throw a wide range of baits maybe consider braid & keeping the flouro for leader..

I really like the idea of silica packets. I keep mine anyway to put in guitar cases but never thought of putting a few in my tackle..
  17. Thanks again for the kind remarks. Only got out for a couple hours tonight managed to get a few with the biggest being a 3lber. Having a hard time thinking about anything but fishing after last night though. I need more fish that size!
  18. Thanks you all. My PB is 5lb 4oz caught on a shallow square bill that fish wasn't quite as long but had a lot of girth. This one had the biggest mouth of any bass I've ever caught & fought hard!
  19. Went out tonight and only managed to get one dink within the first couple hours. Decided to stay after dark anyway to see if the bite turned on and managed to hook into this chunker fishing a black jitterbug. Of course being by myself I had a hard time getting a descent picture to show its size & I turn on my scale to weigh her and my batteries are starting to die. Anyways she measured 21" and it's going to bug me not knowing how much she weighed as it may have been my PB.
  20. Rapala Crankin' Rap. Runners up would be the H20 CRS, Bagley Balsa B, RC 1.5 & Spro Little John.
  21. Night time & early morning are your best bet. It's really the only time I fish this time of the year. I don't like fishing slow but the few fish I've gotten during the day have come from soft plastics. I let it sit on the bottom for 30-40 seconds and wait for any line movement since they seam to be picking it up so lightly. It's not the most fun way of fishing but it usually gets me a couple..
  22. I would try staying a little later if possible. That first hour before & after dark is my favorite time to throw topwater like buzzbaits, jitterbugs & frogs. If you're getting short strikes on the frog you could try trimming the legs if you haven't already. As far as mid day fishing goes I would start by locating whatever submerged structure I could around those break lines and working my from deep to shallow throwing jigs, cranks & spinners to cover water.
  23. Probably a weightless zoom trick worm they're really durable and catch fish.
  24. When my PQ broke (pinion gear) I returned it via mail after having it 11 months with no problem. They even let me add $ and get a Curado to replace it. I would contact BPS they can probably help you.
  25. ^ Which is why you wear a PDF 100% of the time & why everything is either tied down or has floats. Early morning & night time are the best this time of year IMO & if the yak gets me on the water than I'm there. I caught more tonight than I have all week during the day.
