  1. No ice down here in south western PA! Dunlap is coming up since the drawdown and the yough lake is open but water is high all the way up over jockey hollow parking lot!
  2. I really need to get one!
  3. I hate that I know this...lol...but I use to do a lot of trout fishing, especially for stocked trout. Get a long rod say 8-10 foot use light line 4-6lb fluorocarbon will work well also. Now get some 1/16 1/32 1/64 ounce jigs black with white eye works good tip it with one or two maggots then get a weighted bobber put anywhere from 4-8 foot above and cast it out. Now keeping rod tip up jiggle the tip lightly while reeling in very slow, when the bobber goes backwards set the hook. It will not go under all the time it will just kind of stop or go in reverse. You will catch trout and big ones with this method. Good luck!
  4. Woke up at 3 o'clock today and seen that it was warm so I decided to go to the lake and fish from shore for awhile. I was trying a new lc 78dd in ghost minnow. After about 30 minutes I stuck a pig! I would say somewhere between 4.5-6 pound range! I did not grab my scale or camera because it is in my jacket and did not wear it! So after sounding like mike icanollie winning the bass master classic I was pumped up! Then it happened......SNAG!!!! Now I am not a rich man by any means so the thought of losing this 17.00 lure was frightening, but more importantly I just caught a pig of a bass on it. So after trying to get it out for ten minutes, off goes the boots, socks, and rolling up the jeans. The first step was cold, but after going I. To my waste it almost took my breath away! I think the water was around 45-48 degrees but it felt like 33! So here I am up to my waste and still cannot get to it, so I did what we all have done before and started the ( I give up pull ) then all of a sudden the luck of the Irish shined down on me and the line was coming towards me. After some very gentle pulls I got the log in my hands and took back what was mine! So a little wet but well worth the beautiful bass I caught... Happy St.. Patricks day!!!!!
  5. I called yesterday to sign up for ranger cup and everything seemed the same to me. Friendly lady answered and put through to a gentleman named Matt who got me signed up and told me that I would not get me new card by the time I was leaving for my tournament next week. He said not to worry that they would verify all the info to flw. Now I know that has nothing to do with customer service for boat problems, but it seemed like all was still the way it always has been! My recommendation would be to call ranger and talk to someone there with your concerns. If I was to spend that amount of money again I would talk to whoever will listen. Tell them the problems you have had in the past and your future concerns about issues you may have and I bet you will be surprised at just how nice they are down there!
  6. I called ranger last spring because I made a mistake hooking my trolling batteries back up. They said hold on one second then put me right through to someone on the floor and he walked me right through it! Also two years ago my on board charger was making a humming noise so I called them and without any hesitation they sent me a new one and....paid for the shipping for me to send the old one back! I never call the place where I bought the boat I always call ranger direct, and they are some of the nicest people you will deal with!
  7. Thank you very much that should be easy considering I am staying in the first arm on the right as you go under the bridge up river! Also you might know, how long do you think it will take me to get to parkway from the bridge at night? I will be driving slow and cautious.
  8. Thank you for the detailed story. I was starting to think that ranger was not as good as I thought. Ever since I was 8-9 years of age I always wanted a ranger boat, when I got it I was in awe and still feel like a pro when I fish out of it! I guess that is what really matters, how you feel about what you love. I have also met Forrest wood and his wife on several occasions and they are very nice people.
  9. Awesome smallies! The largemouth wasn't to shabby either!!
  10. I see a lot of guys talking about chopper guns being used. What is that and what does it mean and how important is it to use or not to use these? Also I love my ranger but have never fished out of a allison or bass cat! Also, I have a 205 hull and it may not be the fastest but handles rough water extremely well. That leads me to believe that maybe each company makes different hulls and one may be better than another. I do enjoy reading this thread because I am learning more about bass boats and how they are made!
  11. Good luck!
  12. Try tackle unlimited on 51 down near Pittsburgh, I do not know if they sell falcon or not!
  13. It must have already started I got catalog yesterday with them in there!
  14. Thanks guys, I think I am going to stay with mono! If it is not broke do not fix it!M ;D
  15. Hey guys, I usually launch out of parkway but this year I am staying in a house on the lake up by the bridge. The house has a dock so I will be keeping my boat on the water, I know there used to be a launch at the bridge but have not been up that way in a few years. Any launches close?
  16. Well..... Not only that but I think being so sensitive that may set hook too fast... If that makes any sense :-/
  17. I understand I think I was thinking in terms of chevy vs. Ford and he may be looking for a Ferrari! ;D
  18. I just do not know about high end fishing boats, just giving my opinion on what I know. Sounds like an awesome boat!
  19. Cool, maybe I will see you down there or we could end up being paired up together.
  20. I am not familiar with all boats out there. But I love my ranger and the people at ranger boats. I have had questions about my boat in the past and called down there and they have put me on the phone with workers right on the floor, I could hear the work going on around them. That is customer service!!
  21. Are you fishing march 26 on smith mt. For the sheanandoah div. Coming down next week can't wait I love the lake and the area!!
  22. Road warrior, is there any particular reasons they say no? I think tearing the hooks out would be the problem, but KVD uses fluro for his cranks so....... :-/
