  1. I was just wondering if anyone is using a rage craw for c-rigging? If so how did it work and did you see any difference using those instead of a worm or lizard?
  2. I find so many people prefer bc over spinning. I have always thought that spinning was easier but for some it is not. I love both styles if you use a spinning reel long enough you can cast just as accurate with one as you can a bc in my opinion! I have learned to cast it and then use your other hand to cup around the line as it comes out then close the bail when you are where you want to be. It is easier to show than tell but this may help others with their accuracy with a spinning setup!
  3. I would say your scale is right on! It may not be a five but a nice fish anyways congrats!
  4. I have never used them but I did see some yesterday for the first time and I was really impressed with how they felt especially at the price point!
  5. Went down to the local sporting goods shop today and I saw a jacket called reddington stratus II wading jacket. It retailed for 130.00 I got it for 50.00 on sale! It is made for fly fisherman but after being on this forum for awhile now I have learned that things are not always what they seem. I think it will work perfect for me throughout the summer and early fall.
  6. Hey guys I was just wondering how many days throughout the week you fish? I mean from a boat not from shore. Not that I have any problem with that it is just I am trying to figure out how I stack up to other fishermen. I have been going roughly 2 days a week because I have a hard time going throughout the week due to work and home responsibilities.
  7. Nice! I love that lake I am really missing not fishing there this year!
  8. Nice boat, it runs good and you know how it handles and everything about it. Keep it!
  9. I do alot of musky fishing also and I have caught 10-12 inch bass on 9 inch musky lure trolling!
  10. I have a few Columbia PFG and love them. My wife bought me a under armour one this spring and I love it! It not only keeps you cool but somehow it keeps me warm on cool mornings. I do not know about SPF rating I know it has one but they are worth checking out! Also, she bought it at a outlet store so it was relatively inexpensive something like 35 dollars.
  11. Maybe stick with the worm just change colors drastically and or change the shape of the worm, like going to a more aggressive tail section.
  12. I always use a spinning setup to skip under things because I am not great skipping with a baitcaster. One thing I have learned for me anyways is that mono skips much better than fluro. It comes off the reel smoother and does not sink as fast as fluro does. You may want to give mono a try just to see if it comes easier for you also.
  13. First off congrats on living in paradise! I am by no means an expert on this but my guess would be one, too many fish. I have heard that too many can stunt their growth. Just like if you would put too many goldfish in a bowl. Second, if there is that many bass then there is probably not near enough baitfish. It sounds like it may be a combination of a lot of things working against you. Are the lakes owned by someone if so you may be able to get a biologist out there and do some water testing and other things to improve the lake. Also the state fish commission may be able to help out or assist you too. Good luck!
  14. Dt fat 03 in helenski shad has put some of the biggest bass in my boat!
  15. The crappie is awesome!
  16. Wow! I always enjoy your pics! Great job!
  17. Awesome! I was fishing my local river one time and saw fish jumping out of the water so I threw my crankbait towards it and boom caught one 31 pounds on 12 pound test. I remember it pulling my boat around!..lol..
  18. I would have to disagree with you here. If the bass ate the weight and he set the hook then it is no difference than catching a fish on a jig, crankbait or anything else. Just because it is a weight with a hook to us and not a piece of balsa wood with a hook does not make it any different. Of course this is as long as the fish bit the weight and there was no snagging involved.
  19. I agree but he said he did not want to travel real far so I was giving him some ideas to look local for bigger fish. The lakes I was talking about was Dunlap and virgin run. They are continuously stocked with small trout and could hold bass of that size. They catch walleye of ten plus pounds out of Dunlap so I would bet the farm that the bass are getting that big!
  20. I am starting to think that if you have a decent size lake (80) acres and up that has good cover and stocks trout that you maybe be able to catch one even if it is up north. I live in southwest PA and there are a few lakes that I would bet have 10+ bass in it. I would love to have someone that knows how to fish a swim bait come here for a week and fish with me in these lakes. The state record is 11# 3oz and I bet that could be broken by someone who knows what they are doing!
  21. Bassh8er I love the way you store your plastics!
  22. A 4/0 worked for me.
