Switching To Shimano Help?
After fishing lake Erie this year I want the best spinning reels I can afford. Those fish will show you what kind of equipment you have! I have seen a lot of people switching to lews for their baitcaster needs? So the saros is better than the ci4? The stradic fj is the best out of these three? Thanks for all the responses keep them coming I need a lot of info before switching 10 reels out for all new!

Switching To Shimano Help?
I have been using quantum reels for about 8-10 years now and I am starting to get disappointed with how the reels are holding up. My spinning reels are not lasting like I thought. I am looking at going to shimano I have used shimanos in the past but in the early and mid 2000's I thought they felt junkie and not well built. Now though they look like they are again on top. I am looking to replace all my reels this winter starting with my spinning reels. I looked at the stradic ci4 and loved it but the symetre also look good and much cheaper. My question is what reels in the shimano lineup should I look at in both spinning and baitcast models? Would like to stay under 200 for both models but would go up a little for quality baitcasters. I will be replacing several reels over the next 6 months. Is everyone happy with their shimanos? The quantums I use is engery pti spinning and energy and tour edition baitcasters. I think I am just ready for a change!

Erie For The First Time!
I am going to lake Erie this weekend for a club tourney and was wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions on where to start looking for big smallies or any presentations to try? I know tubes and drop shot works well and I have heard that the cribs and the W's hold fish but never being there before a little help sure would be nice. We are going out of presque bay. I also have heard that you can catch some big ones with a jerkbait, is that something I should try? Also what about going left out of the bay and fishing the mouths of elk and walnut creeks? Thanks for all the help in advance!

The More I Fish The More Stuff Breaks!
Well I ended up replacing the rope with a 3/32 coated steel cable. As for the carpet I got some gorilla glue but I may go with the gorilla super glue because it dries faster and with carpet that wraps under the lid I would need to many clamps. Thanks for all the advice!

The More I Fish The More Stuff Breaks!
I have been fishing alot more this season and my equipment is showing signs of it. Today my trolling motor pull rope snapped off! Also, my carpet on one of the lockers is coming off underneath. My question is what kind of rope can I purchased for the trolling motor? Can I get it at lowes or home depot? Also what kind of glue do I need to seal that carpet up? I would like to purchase the stuff at one of the big box stores because they are close to me! Thanks

Becoming A Reel Repairman!
I am interested in learning everything I can on repairing fishing reels. I enjoy cleaning and repairing my own equipment and thought maybe if I learned more I could do this on the side for a little extra cash. My question is are there any classes or books or other media that could teach me how to clean and repair reels of all types and models? How much does it cost to get reels cleaned and or repaired? I just enjoy doing it and want to treat people fair. Any other thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Which Baitcaster??
I have always been a quantum fan and own several different models in baitcasters and spinning. When the smoke came out I was excited but when I picked one up it was very small in my hand and did not have the feel of other quantums in the past. As far as the lews, I am going to look into them just because of all the buzz lately on here!

Dropshot Hook Set ?
Thanks, I just ordered some yo-zuri hybrid 8# ultra soft line. I am thinking that the mono is giving a little too much. Also when I feel the bite I am dropping my rod then reeling up and setting the hook. I need to learn to just lift and wind.

Dropshot Hook Set ?
I have been practicing drop shot lately and I am using the new vmc spinshot hooks with a 4.5 robo worm. I am also using 6# mono. I am really starting to put some fish in the boat and I am getting use to the new technique. The only problem is I am missing some fish and was wondering if it is my hookset. When I do catch them the hook is always in the top of the mouth so maybe it is something I am doing? Any help would be appreciated!
