  1. Yeah man that is what I am trying to say. I would love to be out fishing right now but it is cold and miserable outside so all I would catch is a moving chunk of ice and frost bite right now. We aren't supposed to get too far out of the 20's for the next week or so. But these forums are designed to come here and talk fishing right?
  2. I think this has been an interesting thread . For all of you that keep saying let's shut up and fish, by all means go fishing. It is snowing like crazy here and the lakes are still half frozen so I will continue to spend my time here talking with others just like me until it's a little warmer.
  3. Tom you are 100% correct. That was exactly the reason I posted Chris' blog.
  4. WRB and UpNorthBassin, you two have some very good points. JHoffman, I am on the same page with you. CkFishin, I do not take the labels off of my shoes, jeans etc. But I also doubt if someone saw me fishing in jeans and tennis shoes they would assume that I was sponsored by Nike and Silver jeans. However, if they saw me wearing a jersey and hat with a Silver jeans logo and a sticker on my truck window, that might be a different story.
  5. I just think people look at things differently. The blog was basically about getting your fair share out of these companies. Would you work at your job for a discount and a shirt you have to pay full price for?
  6. lol Nice Picture.
  7. It is like all of these Bass fishermen wearing jerseys (that they pay for) with a boat company's name on it and they don't even get a discount on the boat. Why would a company pay to sponsor an angler when 10,000 anglers promote their brands for free?
  8. This was on UFC Fighter Chris Camozzi's blog and I think Bass fishermen need to read it too. I have been thinking about writing an article that addresses something similar that I see with fishermen. ______ Won't Lower The Bar - Never Selling Out Posted by Chris Camozzi on March 15, 2013 at 2:28pmView Blog I Won’t Lower The Bar “Never Selling Out But Always For Sale” The fighters do not seem to care about how little they make and it seems like managers don’t either when it comes to sponsorship. This used to be such a big part of the sport. Maybe it is because they did not work as hard as me to get here or maybe it is because they do not work as hard as me for the sponsors outside of the Octagon. 9. More good tips. One thing I always tell people is: If your jig feels different, just set the hook. It is better to set the hook on a piece of wood than to not set the hook on a giant Bass.
  10. Thanks everyone. I have really enjoyed coming to this site. For those of you that weren't around back then, you would be amazed at how much growth and advancement there has been on this site. Glenn has done a phenomenal job of growing the site and making it a great environment. Here's to another 10 years!!!
  11. I am a huge fan of pitching jigs and wanted to know what tips you have that might help others get better at fishing the jig?
  12. Texas rigged on a 5/0 hook (weightless). Whacky on 2/0 weedless whacky rig hook (weightless). One of my favorite baits.
  13. I was always told that I caught my first Bass when I was 3 but I obviously can't remember it. A few months back I found a photo at my grandma's house of my holding up a nice Bass. In the picture I looked like I was 3 or 4 years old. My grandpa used to tell me that I got Bass fever when I caught my first Bass because after we got done fishing that day I got really sick. lol Overall though, I do not remember a time in my entire life when I did not go fishing. A lot of our family trips as a kid had to do with going fishing somewhere.
  14. I think a lot of baits go through that cycle. For example: I couldn't tell you the last time I heard a Senko mentioned at a tournament but you know they still catch tons of fish.
  15. I have been pretty blessed so I am sure I will forget someone but I have either met, talked on the phone with or texted with these guys. Anglers: KVD Gerald Swindle Hank Parker Jay Yelas Ike Kelly Jordon Davey Hite Dave Lefebre Skeet Reese Ish Monroe Larry Nixon Marty Stone Ray Scott Peter T. Woo Daves Penny Berryman Mike Auten Basil Bacon Mark Davis That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Non-Fishing: Robbie Lawler - UFC Fighter Drew McFedries - UFC Fighter Rod Montoya - Bellator Fighter Pat Miletich - UFC Fighter Tito Ortiz - UFC Fighter Vitor Belfort - UFC Fighter Tim Sylvia - UFC Fighter Rob Mccullough - WEC Fighter Andre Arlovski - UFC Fighter Real Andrews - General Hospital Scottie Pippen - Chicago Bulls Numerous other PGA, NHL, MLB and NBA players and coaches I met a bunch of WWF (pre WWE wrestling) guys back in the day but I don't remember all of their names. Man now I am racking my brain trying to remember everyone I have met over the years. lol Great Question!
  16. Everyone on here is a regular guy (or girl). I believe the tags are for people that use search engines looking for stuff so they get directed to Bass Resource.
  17. I just started it tonight. I did P90X several years ago.
  18. I will make sure I tag yours next time.
  19. Have you done the Insanity workout? If so what were your results? Did you last for the full 60 days?
  20. I have caught fish on dozens of different baits when using a C rig but I believe the most productive is a Watermelon colored Yamamoto Lizard with its tail dipped in Chartreuse Spike it dye.
  21. I regularly fish gin clear water and no matter how you slice it, it is tough. My best bait by far has been a Chatterbait style lure with at 4" Yamamoto Swim Senko as the trailer. I fish it on Sugoi fluorocarbon line. I try to make long accurate casts and fish the bait with a quick retrieve.
  22. The Les Baer is pretty sweet too. I live in a little town in Illinois (6,000 people) and we have Springfield Armory and Armalite Arms. A few minutes out of town is Rock River Arms and across the river in Iowa (used to be in IL until they just had enough of the State's harrassment) is Les Baer. About 25 minutes from here is Lewis Machine & Tool (makers of LMT weapons) and the Rock Island Arsenal (makers of weapons for the military). We are with gun makers like Northern Arkansas is to boat makers.
  23. Not sure what excuse is this time but our gas has gone up $0.70 in just a couple of weeks. We are just about back to the $4.00 mark. I am back up to $400 a month for gas. I sure miss the old days of $1 a gallon.
  24. I heard on the radio that you could get a 525 rd box for $70. I think the last one I bought at walmart was around $15.
