i am having to move my 2 batteries(24v) to the rear of my boat. i am using 6 awg fro my batteries to my plug. the wire on the motor is 10awg. it is a 65lbs thrust minn-kota. all the plugs i have found have been 10awg on both side and i dont want the wire behind the plug getting hot under my deck. i found these. http://www.bestboatwire.com/anderson-sb50-6-awg-gray any feed back on this item or one good for my setup?

could be a issue if you always empty the same tank and then swap over and only use a portion of the second every time.

good luck getting that hoss on the roof by yourself. my brother in law tried it a few times on his mazda 3 hatchback with a foam block kit. finally broke down and got a harbor freight trailer. that aside it is a great calm water yak.

your line to your engine would go through something like this. the reason i ask is if you dont you could have water/contaminants in one and not in the other. especially if you run ethanol gas.

size wise i launch my 17.5 g3 solo all the time with no trouble.

i would vote against a inflatable pfd in a kayak. since it cost so much when it goes off. it also looks pretty awkward to wear after they go off.

for small creeks i carry just a medium light spinner and one waterproof tray. for bigger rivers i have a big water proof tray. for rods and reels i went with academy house brand for warranty as i know i am going the trash one shooting rapids at some point. i use a 6'6'' mentor baitcaster with12lb line and ethos spinner with a old plueger reel. i made floats out of a $1 pool noodle from the dollar store. soft plastics are my comfort baits so thats mainly what i throw. not fond on the idea of bring a bass full of treble hooks in to my lap.

at very least i would repack. grease should be translucent. it gets that milky look with moisture. they make grease designed just for boat trailers and all i have seen is blue not red.

mine last will last a through a whole day on my 1436 jon boat. zipping around a pond with a 30lb thrust TM. running similar load to what you describe. you can feel it getting weaker but its still going.

you want what ever boat yo get to be at least 48'' wide in the bottom to deck it. your best bet at maintaining a smaller budget is buying used. let someone else buy everything at retail. cant really give a price on accessories since FF's and TM's range from $100 to $2000. and dont forget batteries in your price. as far as boat vs. kayak i would think the water you plan to fish is the main factor. rivers, smaller lakes and ponds with more difficult access would be kayak territory. if your going out on big lakes with bass boats,wake boats,pontoons and jetskis i would say that is boat territory.

still a deep v so it wont be as stable. is it wider than your current one?

what about trying 1500 then 3000 grit. that 800 might be leaving some bigger scratches that you see.

maybe see if you can find some one to trade you a flat bottom. on flat bottom boats the size is stated like 1436 or 1548, the first is half of the number is the length in feet the second is the width of the bottom(not gunnel that is beam) in inches. to build a deck you need at minimum of 48 inches. i have a 1436 one person can stand on the bottom of the boat and fish. if 2 people stand your movements throw the other person off balance. we some times go to a lake where you are required to rent a boat. we get a 1548. we can stand on the bench top and fish. the stability that extra foot of bottom makes is unbelievable.

i would be wary of that outboard. we repowered a boat with that exact same model. it was a unreliable fuel hog.
