  1. T-Rig Jig http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_46143____SearchResults http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_29939____SearchResults http://www.performancetackle.com/freshwater-fishing/terminal-tackle/jigheads/sled-head-screw-lock/prodOHUSLEDHEAD.html Roger
  2. I'd say adclem nailed it. In my case it's braided line for everything. Roger
  3. Tackle Warehouse has always been a class-act. Whenever I'm ready to place a tackle order, I always check their website first. If TWH doesn't don't carry it, then BPS wins by default. Roger
  4. The "best" lipless crank is a moving target, but my "favorite" is the Spro Aruku Shad. Roger
  5. In this price range, I would definitely go with Shimano. Roger
  6. About 4 years back I switched from mono to braid, and today I fish ALL my lures on braided line, and tie direct (no leader). I recently switched from PowerPro braid to Fireline Tracer Braid, due to unexplained line failure in PowerPro. In any case, the difference between brands of braided line pales in comparison to the difference between braid and monofilament. Roger
  7. The standard is Surface Water Temperature, which is therefore a relative statistic. When no depth is specified, surface temperature is assumed otherwise the specific depth must be specified (e.g. X-degs at fish level). Roger
  8. More telling than the unknown distance between fish and angler, is the angler's hands. The fish and the angler's hands are always on the same plane, and to me his hands look large. 4 lbs tops. Roger
  9. To forego the need to peg the sinker, use a 1/8oz Slider ProHead. Be sure there's a "U" in the product code however, which indicates "Ultrapoint" (mustad hook) Product Code: SPCH8B-U Rig up with a 7" Gambler Big Stick which stands brazenly upright with a tentacled tail. I like Watermelon Candy (no dyes). Not that it matters but Gambler Big Sticks come heavily garlic-scented. Drag it though all the heaviest weed beds without fear (jiggle & pause). Roger
  10. When living in Georgia we often targeted catfish. It would be hard to specify a favorite bait though, without pinning down the catfish species. Depending on the target, these would be my favorites: Channel Catfish 1) Fresh Chicken Livers 2) Fresh Beef Liver (Even less hook-fast than chicken livers and emits less scent) Blue Catfish 1) 4 to 5 Whole Fresh Fish (shad or herring if available) 2) Fresh Fish Chunks (cut-bait is used with large baitfish) Flathead Catfish 4 to 5 Live Fish ("Live" and moving is more important than the species of bait. Baitfish commonly used for flatheads are live shiners, goldfish, shad, redbreast sunfish, suckers & bullheads) Roger
  11. The Berkley Hollow Belly is a terrific swimbait! I rig it on a 1/8oz Luck "E" Strike Belly-Weight hook. Wind the screw-coil into the tough plastic-nose and it'll come through the heaviest salad. Roger

In the words of McEnroe "You Can't Be Serious!" ;D Roger
  13. My guess would be the same as Glenn's There was a lake in Jersey that had perennially muddy water. The bass in that lake looked like silver salmon, their color was pale and washed-out and the dark median line was basically absent. Roger
  14. or try a loomston ::)or a loomi I'd take a loomston over a st. coxi any day ;D You guys are killing me...my stomach hurts from laughing Roger

Never use them Actually, if I had a choice I'd buy soft-plastics with no added odors.
  16. In my opinion, the emphasis of shaky worming should be placed on the "worm" rather than the jig. The most critical element of tail shaking is worm buoyancy. When the wrong worm is used, it's not likely that any jig will produce the desired effect. Oppositely, when the right worm is used, most any jig can be used with good results. The original shaky-head jig was a ballhead jig, as the theory goes, a sphere provides neutral influence. All the same, when a highly buoyant worm is used the tail will rise vertically upright, where it's most vulnerable to the motion of the jighead. When a high-floating worm is used, even a bullet-nosed jig will provide shaky tail action. To that end, three of the most buoyant worms for shaky worming: > Strike King 3x Finesse Worm (high-floating cyberflexxx plastic) > Roboworm Zipper Worm > Gambler Big Stick (hollow body) Roger
  17. The Uni-knot has excellent knot-strength, and is remarkably universal (hence the name). It's commonly used for joining lines of different materials, it's perfect for tying to large plugs with several treble hooks (try that with a palomar). In short, the uni-knot can be used for tying anything to anything, including dropper loops and branch rigs. Ironically, some anglers will tie to their lure using a 13-twist Improved Schawallika then join their leader and main-line using a Uni-knot : Roger
  18. The Duel (Dennis Weaver - 1971) Roger
  19. Pickwick Lake is outstanding water, but it will be the third consecutive roadtrip to the Tennessee River Roger
  20. You name it and I probably owned it (Dobyns being the exception, which are highly respected blanks). Before you make your final decision, take a close look at Okuma Concept C3 (about 50 bucks less than the others). Roger
  21. There are a few places in Jersey called the "Sand Pits", but the one I was referring to lies in Parsippany, NJ. (Rumor has it that spring water rushed in so fast that some heavy equipment is still on the floor of the pits) The closest to Camden County I used to fish was Lower Aetna Lake (one of the Medford Lakes), which held the former world record chain pickerel (9 lb, 3 oz). My apologies for an off-topic response Roger
  22. Congratulations on your personal best My wild guess would be 17" x 2-3/4 lbs By the way, as long as it's within the law, whether you eat or release a bass is your business. As it happens, my wife & I had fillet of largemouth bass this evening, and it was better than anything I've ever ordered in a restaurant. Roger
  23. Nice going fellows, those are some chunky bass for Jersey You guys really jog my memory! Back in the day, Farrington Lake was one of Jersey's best bass waters (before monmouth res, round valley & spruce run). I used to launch a cartopper by the pig farm (long gone, but across from the reformatory) Also good then was adjoining "Davidson Mill pond" (especially for pickerel). Roger
  24. This has been my experience as well, and I might add the rage craw to the chigger craw Roger
  25. Spinning Rod: Med Hvy - Fast Tip - 6' 6" (10-20lb line) Roger
