Rod For Finesse Jigs
Powell 723 endurance or new max 3d, great all around 1/4-3/8 oz jig and worm rod. Little bit lighter tip than your typical m/h but plenty of backbone and balances a Lews tourny pro perfectly

Powell Rods
Powell isn't discontinuing the Endurance, I just bought a Timax about a month ago and talked to Keith about the endurances. I was concerned about having to warranty my endurances in the future and asked your same question. Powell is a great company and will do whatever they have to keep the customer happy. I wish they hadn't discontinued the 694 but now it will be available in the new max lineup, supposed to be sweet rods.

Micro Guide Noise Problems
I just hate thinking about putting a new tip on a brand new rod. I checked out a few other brands of micro guide rods at academy and 4 of the 6 I looked at felt like a smooth transition around the bottom of the insert to the frame. This is my first micro guide rod, but I own 9 other Powell's and have had no problems whatsoever in 4 years

Micro Guide Noise Problems
The line does start to get damaged and gets those little curls in fluoro if I don't retire frequently. I even went to academy tonight and bought a brand new spool of 15lb invisx and after about 20 casts noticed the line getting damaged. Im going to call Powell tomorrow

Micro Guide Noise Problems
Okay, to start off I have been searching the web and forums and read all the threads on micro guides making noise and tried everything and no luck. I just bought the new Powell Timax 734 and love it, but on my 1st full day on the water with it I noticed a scraping noise only when the rod is between 8 and 12 oclock, like the line is damaged. The first 6 feet especially makes this noise when reeling in a cast, it doesn't get nicks but when you reel it through you can hear that it's not smooth anymore. This happened with yo zuri hybrid, big game, and invizx. I cleaned all guides with a q tip, checked for cracks, the very tip feels as if it has an edge to it. Is it possible that my tip is just a factory defect?

Dead Sticking
I like to dead stick Senkos around cover especially in the spring and summer. Sometimes deadsticking a Texas Rig works well for me also.

bank fisherman....
i bank fish alot. i carry a backpack with 2 plano boxes in one side and like 30 bags of plastics in another. i take up to 5 rods, but i will make a base camp and leave 3 or 4 of them there with my backpack. if i could take only two rods, they would be a 6'm spinning with 8lb line for floating worms and finesse stuff and a 6'6''mh baitcaster with 12lb-15lb line for all the heavier stuff. i have been catching alot latlely on a natural blue zoom trick worm fished weightless over weeds, it got me a 3lber yesterday.

HOW DO YOU PUT LINE ON A BAITCASTER
heres a very easy way to spool your line. take a bass pro shops catalog and open it up in the middle, then lay your line in the crease and shut the catalog, then just spool your line on. it works, trust me!

quantum kevin vandam signature series baitcaster
I reccomend either the new extreme combo from Bass Pro,or the Abu Garcia Revo S with a Bionic Blade rod for $160,personally,I would go with the extreme combo,it is a very smooth reel with a fairly lightweight rod.

bass pro shops pro qualifier reels
i fish 3-5 times a week and tournament fish on saturdays,so i need something cheap and that will hold up for a while. i had been looking at the abu garcia c4's and 5's,but i like low profile reels, does anybody know of any good, longlasting reels? thanks!

bass pro shops pro qualifier reels
hey yall,i'm sorta new here,i mostly just browse this wonderful board.i am getting 2 new reels off of ebay and i had a question. heres the reels that i will probably be getting. http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Bass-Pro-PQX-1000H-SE-Baitcaster-Reels-VG_W0QQitemZ150068546737QQihZ005QQcategoryZ36146QQcmdZViewItem i was wondering if the frame, which is graphite, will flex any? i like the looks of these reels and the price is good. they are either demos or store returns, but it says they are in good condition, both externally and internally.the seller has a money back guarantee if they arent what as described or i dont like them. what are yall's thoughts on these reels? thanks alot guys!

Imediate hook set?
i set the hook on soft plastics when i feel that the bass has taken the bait, but i do set pretty quick.

Taxas rig presentations
i like eagle claws lazer sharp hooks.i use 3/0 heavy wire for 7'' worms and 2/0 medium wire for weightless presentations on spinning rigs and for 5'' and 6'' worms. i might trie the gammy's ewg 2/0 or 3/0 sometime, but the price is a little high. i can get 25 eagle claws for $4 and 10 gammys for $4.i would rather spend my time fishing than working so i can get money to go fishing. IMO.

fishing in cold water and strong winds
i use finesse worms on a dropshot rig.try keeping your rod tip low to the water, minimizing the contact of wind to your line.

Slow fishing from the bank
try a dropshot rig.u can use a senko or any small, natural colored plastic worm.i have had great succes using it this winter.

Setting the hook???
i use a hard hook set with jigs and worms. i normally reel up the slack and then poundthat hook home, while continuing to reel, so i can get the fish out of cover, then i let up and let the fish tire out.
