Golf
I put the fishing rods down around 1980 to take a break from bass fishing and played the game for around 3 years. Got down to about an 8 handicap playing around 27-36 holes a week. Plateaued and lost interest. I've played around 10 rounds in the last 20 years. I just don't have the time not too mention I'd need brand new clubs if I wanted to pick up the game again seriously.

Quantum Accurist PT
You're comparing a $130 reel to a pair of $200 reels. Not a good comparison IMO.

Anybody use the Storz It rod sleeves or similar???
I've used the BPS rod sleeves and hated them. I only use them for spinning gear. The sleeves I use I got from Fivebasslimit here. Basically it's the tubular mesh like the Stick jackets are made out of. It works perfectly. There is absolutely no need for rod storage racks using those systems. In fact, if you're using either of those rods systems (Storz it or Stick Jacket) you're limiting what you can put in the rod box with a rod storage system. You can literally cram as many rods into the box as possible and then reach in pull the one out you need. No tangles, no snagging up in the front part of the rod box under the deck. Great system.

Bilge pump?
I don't believe a bilge pump is mandatory. Yes, there is an over flow. When the bilge fills with enough water, the boat will sink low enough that water will "over flow" the transom and fill the boat up the rest of the way.

Bill Dance
The poster has posted about 5 times in the past year. His first post since January is asking whether Bill Dance is a cheater. : Let's see... Bill has been involved in some form with the profession and or business of bass angling for 40 years. He's had his own TV show for around 35 of those. He's got a bunch of high paying sponsors who pay him a dear amount of money for his name to endorse their products. How much would Mr. Dance get if he had ever been caught cheating? Would Mr. Dance even have a TV show today if he had ever been caught cheating? Incredibly stupid question really.

Waterproofing deck question?
Most guys use epoxy resin. Tough stuff and made to last.

howell island
Not sure I'd waste my time. You could go to the other side of the river to the Weldon Springs tract. There are a couple of sloughs/creeks on there that dump into the river. There are some bass in those though not many nor are they big. I think you'd be better off fishing Busches Wildlife area.

Rod for Jerkbaits
I just got 2 new jerkbait rods over the winter and tried them last weekend. They worked exactly like I thought they would. 1st is a Team All Star, 6'4" Med/fast rod, they call a SB1. I like the action on this rod for throwing most jerkbaits. 2nd is an All Star Titanium, 6'6" Light/Ext fast Zell Rowland rod. Don't let the light action fool you, this rod is fairly stiff and will be great for X raps. Those baits need a little stiffer tip action to get them dancing right under water. 3rd rod is one I've had for awhile. It's for soft jerkbaits, senkos, wacky worms, etc. It's a All Star Titanium 6'9" Wacky worm special. It's a medium/Fast rod. Love that rod.

Aerator and Bilge Pumps
Many boats have an overflow tube attached to the livewell which either runs straight out the side of the hull through a thru-hull fitting or runs to an overflow line that goes out the back at the transom bottom with a thru hull fitting.

Ran Transducer cable up the shaft of Power Drive
I did mine a little differently. 1. Don't check on the integrity of your Power drive removable mount for a few years. 2. Tow someone behind boat on a tube and cut across some wakes to give them a good ride. 3. Get bow of boat really jumping, jumping enough to cause removable Power drive mount to break. 4. Watch Power drive motor bounce up and off front deck and sink into 40 feet of water. 5. Go out and buy a cable drive.

How often do you get skunked?
Skunked yesterday on my first time out for the year. 38-40 degree water with sustained winds at 20, gusts to 30 tends to do that. Boat control was a joke especially when you're trying to throw suspending jerkbaits.

Bass Resource 2nd Annual Missouri Members Tournament
I've fished Dixie since the mid 70's on and off. Mostly off the past 10 years. The lake was originally impounded in the latter 60's. It's maximum depth is around 25-30 feet. There are no contour maps of the lake that I know of. They left much of the timber uncut in the basin but most of that has long since rotted and decayed away. The upper 1/2 of the lake used to be the place to go but it has silted in pretty badly over the years. Several of the smaller creek arms on the lake have also silted in and have lost a lot of depth and structure character. Rock fishing jetties were added around 20 years ago. There is also brush that's been sunk by the conservation dept., mostly on the lower end of the lake. The biggest bass caught out of the lake was an 11lber but that was way back in the 70's. Mike caught several good fish in last years T but the majority of bass in that lake are in the 12-14" range and seem locked at that size. The lake has a slot limit to encourage growth though it doesn't seem like it's working.

Bone Creek Report
Forecast is for another round of cold weather this week. Good luck. I went out today in this wind. Felt good to be out for the first time this year but a slow bite coupled with very strong winds kinda ruined the day

Rods for less than 100 bucks and reels for less than a hundred$
Rods: All Star Classics and or the TAS rods. Outstanding value. Fenwick HMG - Great rods for the price. BPS Extremes, when on sale are also great rods. Berkley Lightning rods, still one of the great rods for the price point. Reels: BPS Extreme, another great reel when on sale. Revo S - Well, now they're over the $100 mark but you can still get them brand new on Ebay for under $100. Great reel.

fixing up my rundown boat! Need help!!!
If $800 was all that was spent of a re-gel job, a year is about right. Most professional jobs meant to last will cost you in the thousands, not hundreds. Even those won't go much longer than 5 years before the inevitable happens. Good luck with the boat. Something just sitting around outside for that length of time is never good. Remember to maintain reality, I know the boat has sentimental value but even your Dad would tell you to have a reasonable price in your head to spend fixing it and if it's more than that, walk away from it.
