How many bass do you catch a year?
2008 = 0 I've never kept count before this year.

The General thread is a disaster!
I bet within about a week it would be full of moved topics! ;D

which prop is the right prop..
I just tried out that Merc prop selector. It came up with a 27p tempest for my boat. ;D Well, if it worked right it would be useful.

which prop is the right prop..
You've given us very little information to go by. There are guys over there who own or owned your particular model boat and setup and can steer you in the right direction.

Lets see your tackle collection
Do you want to see a group shot or should I post individual shots of all 16, 487 lures?

dealing with line memory (*cough, P-Line CXX, cough*)
Here's a trick I use before I ever load a rod in the boat. I take one end of the line and tie a loop knot on it. (THis is often not necessary since I often keep a loop tied in the end of the line when the rod is stored) Put the loop end around a static object, fence post, boat cleat, etc. Now back off around 20-30 yds letting the line out. Reel the line taut and the pull back straight on the line causing it to stretch. Now reel back in and proceed to the lake. This takes most of the memory out of just about any mono out there.

trolling motors with digital steering.
I have the 55lb AT model MK though I'm looking to upgrade to a Maxxum model soon. The AT model has been discontinued and replaced by the Edge series. I believe Cabela's still sells a couple models of AT's at special pricing but the selection is like 2 models. How much slower is the power drive head to turn vs. cable? I can't tell you how many times I had to bend over and manually crank the PD head around because I was about to hit an obstruction due to the head turning so slow. What really slows the thing down is running the TM at speeds above 50%. Then the head turns very slowly. As for battery drain. I went straight from the PD motor to the AT. I never noticed any significant power loss from my batteries doing so. You have to remember that while the digital maximizer feature may be saving you money while the TM motor is turning you're losing that savings because the battery is getting used everytime you want to change directions with the motor.

Flippin Rod ?
Pads and slop? Definitely heavy action and the longer the better. You're often trying to hoist 5lbs of salad along with the fish when fishing that type of cover so you need all the leverage and rod strength as possible.

Remember the 'Pros have supertuned reels' thead?
The sponsored guys I know are always given plenty of un-modified reels to last them a season. Any mods done are done by them and not the factory.

Thought I was home free.
Every one in my family has had it. I know several more that have as well. I still have a nagging cough from that ***** flu that just won't let go.

Replacing Trailer Bunks

Bass Resource 2nd Annual Missouri Members Tournament
;D Who needs a boat? We'll all meet on the east side of the lake and fish off the rock jetties. That's where everyone will head anyway! ;D

Plastic Bass Buster boats
$5000 for the 12 1/2 footer with NO trailer!! Geezo Peezo, that seems a little on the steep side considering there's no OB motor included in that price. For that kind of skin you could buy a new Aluminum John and completely convert it with an OB.

Anti reverse problem on Bait cast reel in cold weather
If I was fishing in 15 degree temps, the IAR wouldn't be the only thing "not working correctly" half the joints in my body would lock up. ;D

How long the spool spins, good test, yes or no.
Another thing that seemed like a great thing was bearings in the handle knobs. Spin the rubber handle knob and it goes and goes. Absolutely aggravating. If I just touch a handle knob, it gets it going and I can actually feel that through the reel as I'm working soft plastics. Annoying.

$30 reel
You didn't do enough research. The biggest difference between the lower end Garcia LP reels and the Revo line is the frame material. The lower end reels are made of plastic, the Revo Line is made of Aluminum. Corvettes are made of plastic too but I don't see anyone calling them low end cars or cheap :-* ;D Just kidding. Just because it cost more doesn't prove that it is. Many times I have seen people pay big money for a name and not whats in it. Still, you guys who spend the big bucks on reels and rods make a good point about differences in some areas and not much of an argument in other areas. I will let you know how I like the Abu Garcia Silver Max and give a true opinion of it when it get it and try it out. I have one of there really low end reels that was given to me and it works flawlessly and as smooth as silk, Mike I'm not knocking the new LP line of Garcia', the jury is still out on the long term viability of the plastic frame though. I buy and sell a lot of used fishing reels. I disagree with your statement you made here though I've rarely seen a reel that came from the kind of price point that $30 reel comes in at that lasted for years. If it was used fairly regularly, that reel is going to have stuff break on it. Just a fact of cheap mechanics and my own experience of buying, selling and owning cheaper reels. When it breaks, the parts are usually not available nor would the thing be worth fixing anyway. Those lower end reels are great as a beginner for someone wanting to start out as cheaply as possible, I wouldn't consider them a reel that one will keep in his arsenal for a long time to come because frankly, they won't last for a long time.

Revo gear swap?
I'm also interested in the gear swap. Keep us posted, especially on part numbers! 8-)

trolling motors with digital steering.
I owned a MK power drive for quite a few years. If you do a search you'll find a few threads concerning those motors and what most think about them.

Fix up truck or put towards newer truck?
The 350 is a good motor. Freshen the transmission, shocks, engine tuneup, belts, hoses, u joints, etc and you're still a long way from the cost of a newer used truck.

Minnkota Genesis
Those motors originally sold for around $1500-1600. Had an automatic stow and deploy system. Power drive motors. A great idea by MK but the execution was, well...... uh terrible. From guys in the TM repair industry, those things didn't last long before breaking. Too many parts needing to synchronize for the motor to deploy or stow correctly. A few bouncy trips down the lake and "snap", "crackle", "pop". I'd keep looking.
