The Records are really nice reels but they are a touch on the heavy side. Can't make that decision for you though. You're talking a decent difference in price.

I owned one and worked on many. Proof that the average American doesn't always choose the correct format. Beta was far superior to VHS.

With the format set, the Chinese junk brands will start showing up which almost always sends prices tumbling. Nobody wants to buy into a technology like this without knowing the end game. IE: (see betamax vs VHS). When the consumers start buying the prices will drop. I've been in this business 30 + years, it always happens.

I've used flippin switch reels for years without a problem. Started first over 20 years ago with Ultra Mag Garcia's and now have a pair of 2005LP's with them. I've only occasionally, accidently turned the flippin switch on and had a problem cutting a cast short. The feature really works best with Pitchin more than anything, depress thumbar, make pitch, release thumbar and you've got instant reel engagement. I've used the Castaic before, the Instagage is just a different twist on the same theory. You either love the flippin feature or hate it.

Just heard that Grits Gresham has passed away at age 85 in Louisiana. He was a true sportsman and an early proponent of Bass fishing and the BASS tourney trail. He was an often contributer to Bassmaster magazine as well as several other outdoors mags and the host of the great TV show the American Sportsman. RIP Grits.

The same thing I've been doing since I graduated from Tech School in 1976. Repair of television sets. There was a 3 year stint in there where I got out of the business and worked for the old McDonnell-Douglas (Boeing) company and I installed car stereo's for about 2 years in the late 70's (great way to meet chicks and the money was good.) Went back to college to get into the exciting, growing field of IT. Graduated and then realized most good entry level jobs got out-sourced to India. > I'm bored and waiting for retirement.

I agree with the dust. 15 minutes down a gravel road and you've got it everywhere. I don't really care about the gravel aspect. That's what touch up paint is for.

The average $75-125 rod is perfectly acceptable for fishing crankbaits, spinnerbaits, buzz baits, chatterbaits or jerkbaits. The quality of rods in that category these days is more than good enough to feel anything your bait is doing. I have one high sensitivity rod I use for jerkbaits in the late winter/very early spring. At that time of the year, fish will take the bait so lightly that you'll barely feel a hit and unless you're watching your line, you'll miss the fish. That's when a very sensitive rod works for me.

The cars are fugly as all get out but a lot racier. Nice to see NASCAR get a brain and increase the size of the plates to allow more HP. All in all a pretty good race and I never saw that finish coming.

You should be able to get a Clymer manual for that model for around $10-15 on ebay or on-line bookstores. Those usually have info on PT/T for the motor.

Top speeds in any 18-19' boat will vary greatly depending on boat brand and how the boat is setup. Some hulls are built for speed, others for ride and handling.

I had a set of AT style Wranglers, life expectancy on that tread pattern should've been around 45k miles, those suckers started delaminating at around 40k! I've never owned another set. The only tire I've run that was worse were the General Grabbers. Uggghhhhh.......

Actually, the best way to seal wood would be to use Epoxy resin. It's pricier than polyurethane but more durable. Polyurethane for indoors won't work, it's not meant for sustained exposure to moisture. There is some stuff by min-wax called Helmsman urethane. You can buy it at Walmart. It's a urethane based finish specifically meant for outdoors use. It's pretty tough stuff, is self leveling and will expand and contract with whatever it's attached to. http://www.minwax.com/products/protective/helmsman.cfm

I used to have around 4 pair back in the days when my feet could tolerate them. My favorite were a pair of Lama Ostrich skins. Also had some Justins.

Ya??? But no matter what, the Champion. I just did a quick check. Yep, it's an 86" beam. Very similar to my old 168V. You can plop a 150 on those and have quite a rocketship under you. Great little boats for getting into tight places. They handle the rough stuff pretty good though my 184 put that 16 1/2 footer to shame. No doubt, the Champion is the boat to get.
