  1. FLW doesn't want anything to do with it, but if B.A.S.S. ever gets their ducks in a row and spends all their money, FLW won't be able to say no. In my opinion, if it doesn't happen soon, it will eventually happen down the road.
  2. It’s been on people’s minds for a while now. Jerry McKinnis a couple years back, in an interview with ikelive or Bass Talk Live (I forget) tippy-toed around some questions of whether the two have met for talks and it just seems that with FLWs recent actions, that something big is coming. It doesn’t make sense for these two to be competing against each other (which they clearly are, since they won’t line up their schedules to let anglers fish both trails ) when their goal ultimately is to grow the sport of bass fishing. With MLF taking off and getting great TV deals, it seems like a smart move... just a real complicated and costly move.
  3. Bass is going out west next year ... and the co-anglers are gone next year in FLW for the first time in a while
  4. Good point about the money... Maybe the new majority owners from the recent changes to BASS ownership know more about making something like this happen. It would take YEARS, in my opinion, to combine the two top tours into one. But, the creation of a new ‘triple-A’ sort of trail for the rest of the, say 100 anglers who didn’t make it into the elites, that would make it a little easier for an aspiring angler to learn the ropes and survive financially would be exciting.
  5. It seems that pieces have already fallen into place: the switch to a three-day FLW Cup a few years back, no more co-anglers next year... Most people, anglers and executives, agree it would significantly grow the sport. Will it happen sooner rather than later? Would BASS take the top 60 from each top tour to make up the Elites? Would the rest go into a new lower tier tour? What do you guys think?
  6. I switched it up and put more time into fishing higher in the water column near my deep water spots. The fish were definitely active with the majority of my weight coming from reaction baits over the top and on the outside edges of the grass. I did get my big fish out deep switching to a “darker” color. I think the smallies really spread out and actively suspended on or near the outside edge of the grass. Thanks for the advice
  7. Just the guy I wanted to hear from. Thanks! Anybody else?
  8. How do you adjust your deep summer smallie pattern when the weather is cloudy and/or rainy? If it were sunny, I’d be catching good smallies anywhere from 14-24 feet. How should I adjust the pattern now that rain is in the forecast?
  9. Thanks! That's what I figured, but I'd thought I'd throw it out there...
  10. Just curious if anyone had any suggestions / tips for removing / untangling thin braid (I prefer 12 # Sunline Sx1 braid) wind knots. I don't get them very often, but when I do, I run into trouble. I usually just pull both sides of the knot to HOPE that it doesn't dig into itself creating a knot / loop or unfishable snarl. But, I'd say half the time it digs into itself OR snaps the line. The other half of time, I breath a sigh of relief so I don't have to retie a Fluorocarbon leader on the water (not a fan of doing this). Anyone have any tips for REMOVING / UNTANGLING a thin braid wind knot? Thanks.
  11. I've been searching the web for an hour and can't find it. I'm pretty sure I saw the name (some Japanese name, I believe) and jig over the winter, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anybody know the name or have a link to the jig head? 2018 Thanks
  12. still up in the air... anybody use the Dx702sf for drop-shot plus... hair jig, ned rig, etc...?
  13. Good Idea... just low on funds... and when everyone saw they were clearing way for the new xx rods, they were scooped up quickly - I missed my opportunity, unfortunately.
  14. Drop shot rod - Megabass Orochi XX drop-shot v. Dobyns DX702sf I have to make a decision between these two, AND ONLY THESE TWO. I already have a Megabass Levante Stinger Shot for light weight nose-hooked drop-shot presentations. This next rod will be for a slightly bigger / heavier drop shot presentation (near grass edges, deeper, windier, etc...) Buying used - available for the same price - so $ is not an issue. I like Dobyns warranty - 80 bucks equals new rod I don’t like Megabass warranty - 3 years is probably up. - if i break it, it probably won’t get fixed very well I like the tip on Megabass as it will compliment my Levante Stinger shot i don’t like that the dx702sf is only a fast and not extra fast tip....it might not compliment the stinger shot I have (for light weight nose-hooked drop shots) thoughts on just these two two would be appreciated. Thanks
  15. When on the phone with gloomis, they both said 5.0 - that has to be tube size then, right - and the 6 for ring? Thanks for your help!
  16. I talked to two guys. Both didn't know if the 6-5.0 was a tube size or ring size. I did get BFAT out of them though. Anyone have any idea? Would the SHR 822s be the same as the IMX or GLX?
  17. Extremely helpful. Thank you. I knew there had to be some higher quality components out there for this repair. Now, I know.
  18. My GLoomis ShakeyHead Spinning rod (SHR 822 S) top insert came out the other day. I read it's really tough to replace just the insert, so I'm going to replace the whole tip. Which tip should I buy? I want quality and I want the right fit. Tackle Warehouse listed a whole bunch of sizes for these Fuji ALCONITE Tops Black Stainless. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. 19. Thanks for all the replies
  20. Thanks! I want to stick to the flippin' pattern and determining what to flip.... I know my high yield spots on my lakes where there's rock mixed in or an isolated patch, etc. great responses so far. Thx.
  21. Thanks, Mike. That was helpful! Thanks for the reply ! I enjoy fishing this way, too. Just wanted to hear some strategies for getting more bites and figuring out a pattern. But, maybe many of the times it ends up being a spot (or spots) bite rather than a pattern bite. Thanks again
