Buying Used Electronics - Need Help
I'm either going to buy new or used. There's a million articles about buying a new unit - I need info about buying used. Obviously people buy used electronics. Some first hand information would be helpful.

Buying Used Electronics - Need Help
Buying used online means testing it is out of the question... The best I could do would be to check his reputation by seeing if he's sold other items to users who back up his listings

Buying Used Electronics - Need Help
Under $500. But if I ever scrape up more, I still want to ask the right questions no matter the price. 600 hrs approximate to how long in use?

Buying Used Electronics - Need Help
I'm new to electronics. I can only afford used right now. What should I inquire about when purchasing a used unit? - are hours running important? (how many hours is too many)? - will the transducer wear with time and use? Should I ask for pics of the transducer? - what about the internal electronics and connectors / cables? I have no idea how to find a good used unit! (if it means anything - I'm looking for a cheap sonar + map for mounting on trolling motor of an old small aluminum sea nymph)

Powell Max 703S (Mef) Or Dobyns Champ 702Sf (Mlf)
I'm thinking a more stout (medium - medium heavy power / fast action) spinning rod would be good for throwing grubs or tubes, but for the other techniques I listed, a softer and faster tip would work best. I have the following spinning rods: a 68mxf legend elite for drop-shot, hair-jigs, wacky rigs a cus68ma cumara for weightless senkos, grubs, jerkbaits, flukes, tubes - all purpose but a softer tip than the older black cumara - that bothers me a bit a gloomis shakeyhead 822s - my favorite rod for shakey-heads, sliderheads, dartheads, etc. My other spinning rods are not my favorites. I don't use them often I need more than 3 spinning rods during the spring on tournament days

Powell Max 703S (Mef) Or Dobyns Champ 702Sf (Mlf)
I need a versatile rod that can be used for drop-shot, tubes, grubs, hairjigs Has anyone fished both? The Powell Max 703 is a medium extra fast (with the medium being closer to a medium heavy - so I've read) or the Dobyns Champ 702sf which is a medium-light fast (and a little extra money - but that's not a huge factor) Thanks.

Jerkbaits / Rip Baits: Rod Taper / Action
After doing some research, I've found the action of any particular jerkbait rod can be anywhere from moderate to extra-fast. You hardly ever see this range with other technique specific rods, but here is what I've found. I was watching MLF round 1 at Waterville and KVD was talking about how a fast taper was necessary when throwing a jerkbait (even though he was using one of his spinnerbait rods). Then I get a lot of people on boards who say they use an extra-fast action rod. I do a little more searching, and find out that Denali's Michael Murphy Jerkbait rod(s) have a moderate tip. I purchased a Shimano Crucial 68med med-fast crankbait rod that I planned to use for jerkbaits, but after hearing what KVD had to say about a fast taper, I'm having second thoughts. What if I use braid with this rod? Would the braid improve the reaction/movement of my jerkbait despite the medium-fast tip?

Dobyns Champ 766 Flip Or G Loomis Glx 894 Fpr
That's a nice bag! Im looking into the dx745c full grip as a possible all purpose - deep jig, small swimbait, frog-rod, carolina-rig, lighter pitching rod.

Thanks again, man. I purchased the dx795 flip. I'll let you know how it goes. I'll be selling my still in plastic 766 flip champion

He's been great. Connecticut's probably one of the country's best states in BASS Nation. We now have a hometown guy to root for. I asked for a good "pitching" rod and I still think i should have said pitching AND flipping b/c most people still think of the two as synonymous. He's used the 766 in a video he did on cwood fishing deep grass with Texas rigs. But the more time I have to actually think about it has lead me to think that it's a little too stiff.

I talked (messaged) with Paul 2 nights ago about a different rod, but asked him earlier in the year about a pitching rod at cwood (per your earlier advice) and he loves the 736. I like the 7'6" length and don't mind the 7'11" if it were a little lighter than the Shimano crc-711HXF I currntly use. So, the 736 was not an option, but he's been great in getting back to me with help. Thanks for your help as well. I Can be indecisive at times, so your input is making this process much easier

The Dx795 is medium heavy? Going from a 766 broomstick to medium heavy seems like a big jump. Tough decisions. One day sale? Dobyns "70 dollar no hassle". That doesn't include shipping it out for at least 30$, right? From what I heard, its the guides I'll have the most trouble with - I don't know how to fix a guide.

I think you're right. Thanks

If I stick with what I got in the d766c flip, what would be the disadvantages of a Stronger tip than needed?

Dobyns Champ 766 Flip Or G Loomis Glx 894 Fpr
Geez. Can't win. I'M not a fan of tip heavy rods. Is the GLX 895 the same way?

I might have an opportunity to get a used nRX 895

Would a GLX or nrx 895 get the job done?

If you saw this year's elite at Cayuga where hack won pitching to deep grass - candlewood has some grass similarities. Then there's the CT river that is similar to something in between the Delaware/ Hudson and maybe in some spots a tiny bit like the Potomac. Lillinonah and Zoar - are all about pitching to wood. Twin lakes, Highland are all about finding the right grass. I do like fishing lower champlain at least once a year as well. Most common grass is milfoil, Broad leaf pond weed, fa wort, etc. If anyone else is from the area, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Is the dx746 that new rod where Gary lifts the gallon of water? Because of the deep milfoil. I often pitch 3/4 and 1oz t-rigs. Would the 894 be okay for 1 oz. ?

Dobyns Champ 766 Flip Or G Loomis Glx 894 Fpr
I agree. They are too different sticks for the same technique. Which would be best given the circumstances?. How was the tip on the GLX when muscling fish? Thanks for your input.

Dobyns Champ 766 Flip Or G Loomis Glx 894 Fpr
In CT, I pitch to relatively clear water deeper milfoil. I want a light flippin (but mostly pitchin) rod that has the right power. I know the D766c is a broomstick, But how does the GLX 4 power compare? I know the champion weighs more but does balance really well. How does the GLX weigh and balance in comparison? Is the 4 power too soft given my most common conditions? I can't afford these sticks brand new, so I would be getting them used, that's why it is one or the other. Thanks.

All-Season Rain Jacket/parka...
I agree. I'm going to wear mid /insulating layers during the cold winter - I'm just not sure which - that's for another post.
