It was!! A lot of fun!!

Ready Carolina Rig?
I have used those and did not have any problems with them, but found that I liked being able to buy different weight shapes as well for the cover that I was fishing. So for me it was a better investment in buying the beads, weights, and swivels separately. Also if you lose one you are not out that much.

Family Trip
Went with my brother and dad this past weekend to Big Chapman and Webster Lake in Indiana. We had the best fishing trip we have ever had. Caught at least 30 fish and had a lot of laughs. No huge fish, but it was a blast nonetheless. Got to give a shout out to Amoore9900 as he helped give me some spots to try. Caught these two pike on successive casts. A lot of fun.

How Much Have U Learned From Bassresource.com
Three years ago I started getting into bass fishing with artificial baits and was completely lost. Then I found this site and started reading, posting, and reading some more. Then buying, reading, and buying some more. Over the past couple of years my success has improved immensely. This past weekend I went with my brother and dad on a weekend fishing trip for the first time in 4 years and it was the best trip we have ever had. Caught more fish and made more memories than we had ever done the previous years. The amazing thing was that we went to some lakes that we had never fished before, where previously we had gone to fish on a lake that we grew up on our whole lives and even knew the best spots. Being able to go to a lake I had never fished and still be successful was a direct result of the techniques and knowledge that I had learned on this website. Thanks so much Bass Resource!!

Fishing Vacations
Don't know that I will EVER get to fish for a whole week 10-12 hours per day, but I do get a couple of weekends a year. That being said my kids are growing up way to fast and at this time don't know that I would want to be away from them for that long. Maybe when they are out of the house me and the wife will be able to do something like that, but while they are young I don't want to miss a thing. They are too much fun.

They Found Snakehead
Yeah I think you are right. Would be an easy target in a clear lake.

They Found Snakehead
My only problem with snakeheads is that when they spawn they are extremely dangerous to humans. If you get close to their young while they are guarding them they will attack you and do some serious damage. They are not easily run off like a bass when you come near the nest. They actually stand and fight, and the teeth they have will do some serious damage. I have three young kids and we enjoy every year vacationing on a lake. Have been doing it for 30 years. I like that in a freshwater lake I can tell the kids to go have fun and not have to worry about some fish doing damage to them. If the snakehead is introduced that could change things.

Sold My New Bullet
Wow! And I thought that the bait monkey was bad trying to talk me into buying all kinds of different lures every time I go to the store. I have to admit though those Lanier boats look pretty cool.

Anyone Else Have The Clear Coat Peeling Off Their Veritas?
I bought one Veritas from TW. When I got it the clear coat had chipping on it. Sent it back and will never buy one again until they fix their quality issues. I love the feel of the rod and I am sure it fishes great, but for me $100 is not pocket change that I can throw around. I need something that will survive. I would go with the *** as well. They seem to have great reviews and don't seem to have quality problems like the Veritas. Hope you can get something out of it. Good luck.

Power Cord Extension....
Thanks guys!! That helps a lot!! Will hit the Marine store after work today. I have heard of guys just using extension cord wires to do this, but I think I am going to do it right and go ahead and go with marine grade wire. Will also go with the 3A fuse/holder. Thanks for all your help.

Power Cord Extension....
I am needing to run a dedicated power cord extension for my humminbird 597ci HD DI unit from the bow of my boat to the battery in the stern. Will any wire work for the extension since the 6' cord power cord they give you is not nearly long enough or will I need to buy some special wire. I know the one they provide you is insulated, but don't know where you can buy that. Will probably be about an extra 12 foot run. Thanks for the help.

Mono?
I use mono on my crankbait rod, but braid with a leader for everything else. I like the sensitivity of braid and the fact that I don't have to re-spool my mono every year. Lost too many big fish due to the mono weakening to not at least re-spool once a year.

Good Bait Casting Rods Under 100$???
I hear a lot of great things for the *** *** rods and may be the next rod I buy, but if you want to save $30-$40 to invest in a new reel or more gear I don't think you will be disappointed with the Powell Diesel. It is a great rod for the money.

Help Comparing Two Frog Rods
If you are going to look at a Convergence you should look at the Powell Diesel's. You can get a 7'2" MH with XF taper for $69. Granted it won't come with a warranty, but the quality you get at that price point is much better than the Convergence, and I have not heard of any breakage issues with them. I have this exact rod and love it. In my opinion it has enough backbone to do what you need it to do. If you search this forum you will find that there is a lot of positive feedback about the Diesel rods.

Line Tips For Spinning Reel!
I use 15-20lb high visibility yellow Power Pro. I don't use anything less than 15. I also use a 3-4 ft leader. That being said I don't use my spinning tackle to fish with frogs or in heavy cover. Braid is great for spinning gear though.

What Day Do I Go??
So I am scheduled to take my boat out on the local lake for the first time this spring. Not sure what the water temps are, but we just had our first day reaching 70 degree temps couple of days ago. Had several nice days in 60's last week as well. We have probably only had about 2-3 weeks of temps reaching into the 50's and above. So I am assuming that the water temps will still be pretty cool. Spawn normally begins early to mid May. The lake is a reservoir with no vegetation, stained water color. Main cover is floating boat docks or sparse submerged stumps/lay downs, few rocky places shallow, rip rap. Deepest part of the lake is probably 35-40'. No idea what the water temp is, but I am going to assume it is probably in the low 50's. My dilemma is which day would you choose to go fishing with the following weather forecast? The choices being Saturday or Sunday only, and what techniques would you use. I was planning on Saturday, but there is a huge temp change from Wed through Friday that I think might make things pretty tough. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks guys!! Tue April 9th, High 77/Low 62 Wed April 10th, High 78/Low 59 Thursday April 11, High 64/Low 41 Friday April 12, High 49/Low 36 Saturday April 13, High 53/Low 39, Partly Cloudy, Wind: West at 10 mph Sunday April14, High 67/Low 53, Partly Cloudy, Wind: South at 14mph

Finally...my First Real Bass Boat!!
I agree. GPS is very nice even if you fish smaller lakes. Especially if you are not hammering the bank. It will allow you to follow contours, points, etc. Odds are that you will be taking that boat to some other lakes as well at some point and the mapping systems make fishing a new lake a lot easier. For a small extra amount of money I would definitely get the GPS.
