Help Me Understand This Structure....
Wow...thanks everyone for their input. I am going to give it a try this spring and summer. Normally in the spring lake is at "full pool," but then if there is normal rain will drop around 6 ft over the summer. Typically does not fluctuate much more than that if there is the normal amount of rain.

Help Me Understand This Structure....
The lake I fish is a reservoir with slightly stained water, no weeds, some rocks and stumps, and deepest part is about 40 ft. Tell me if I am reading this correctly. I am assuming that the main point is what I have highlighted with the yellow arc, and the secondary points are what I have highlighted with red. Is this correct? (trying to learn proper terminology) I am thinking that on the main point where it comes up to a hump at about 20 ft. this would be a good spot to try and locate fish during the summer and possibly winter? Working a jig, texas rig, or drop shot on top of the hump and around the sides. Then was thinking that during the spring (pre-spawn, spawn, and post-spawn) fish the contour edge from the secondary points along the drop and maybe even up on the "flat" with jigs, carolina rig, crankbait, texas rig, etc. Just trying to fish some stuff away from the bank....so please help me out!! Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Faculty Of Fishing Program
Yeah, I am currently reading In Pursuit of Giant Bass, by Bill Murphy. Great book, but always open to more videos and information regarding structure fishing. Trying to catch some deep bass this year.

Faculty Of Fishing Program
Oh, ok....That is a bummer. I guess I can understand that if you could go back and see them then people would start showing them to other people. However, I just don't know that I want to spend that much money when I can't go back and view them. Thanks for the info.

Spoonplugging Questions
No. The baits you mentioned are not spoonplugs. Spoonplugs were a special lure that he developed that are supposed to be able to run at the same depth no matter what. Because of this you will always know at what depth you are presenting your lure based on the lure size that you select. You can get his spoonplugging course at buckperry.com and it has some helpful things in it. I have the course and they send spoonplugs with it, but have never used them. I mainly got it to learn about bass movement. Although it has some good information in it, I think that Bill Murphy's book (In Pursuit of Giant Bass) has more helpful information. I am only a 3rd of the way through it, but it is just packed with great info and seems to be more updated.

Maybe they will sell the G's on sale for $50. I would buy one then. Ok....just kidding, but seriously this has piqued my interest.

Ever Eat A Bass?
Yes, both smallmouth and largemouth. I am mostly catch and release, but once a year on vacation we have an annual fish fry with my extended family where we will keep as much as we can eat for that meal only. No packing the freezer. I really like it. Is it as good as walleye and some of the panfish...No, but it is still really good. You just can't beat fresh fish. Better than anything you would buy in a supermarket. In my experience sometimes the meat is different in different lakes both taste and texture. Example...I ate a largemouth from one lake that was mushy and not very good, but then ate another one from a different lake and it was great. So can depend on where you are taking them from.

Talk About A Deceiving Pic...
There is no way that fish is anywhere near 11 lbs. The fish in my avatar was between 5 and 6 and it is bigger than that one. Seems like 4-5 lbs to me. The magazine editors need to do better than that.

Better Halfs Fishing Skills.
I am in the same boat. Bought a boat 5 years ago and I have yet to be able to get her out on it just me and her fishing. We go out pleasure boating with the kids, but have not had a chance for her to get out fishing with me. Can't wait till this summer. I am hoping this will be the year when we can get out. I am hoping she will enjoy it. Especially since I don't fish with live bait anymore.

Getting Out On The Water With A Sedan?
Go with the kayak for sure. You can easily car top it, and you don't have to worry about set up and tear down every time you want to go.

Weather Still Sucks !
You lost me at "it´s clear skies high 50´s low 70´s..." Temperature on Monday for me was -14 F, and just got through a blizzard. The roads are now so icy you can't drive over 35 without sliding sideways. Although, I guess if it was warmer I would be more tempted to be fishing!! Sorry about the wind. Hope it slows down for you.

2002 Nitro 640 Lx
I agree with flyfisher....there are some serious red flags. Especially the "Buyer is responsible for delivery and all legal documentation at the DMV." Be very careful on this one.

Turn This Into Bass Boat? Please Help?
I agree with what was previously said. I think you are going to spend a lot of money trying fix something up that you will never be really happy and comfortable fishing in. My guess is that by the time you get trolling motor, batteries, sonar electronics, other miscellanious parts/repairs, ect. You are going to have spent enough money that you could have just bought used nice aluminum fishing boat.

Separate Tow Vehicle Or Not
Definitely go for the one vehicle. I pull an aluminum boat that weighs about 1700 lbs and before I bought the boat I bought a truck to pull it. It was a 1992 GMC. It could pull anything but was a high mileage vehicle. It worked great for local lakes, but I never had the confidence to tow on long trips so I ended up putting a tow package on my van and got rid of it. Was hard on the vehicle to not be driven every week. Battery was always running down, stuff rusted more because not being used, etc. Buying a nicer vehicle will give you peace of mind on those long trips when you don't want to be worrying about a break down.

Budget Eletronics For New Boat?
If you want to go "budget" you can always go the route of buying just a regular 2d sonar like a humminbird piranhamax for under $100 and then use your smart phone for the GPS....assuming you have a smart phone. There are apps that you can use to record your locations and I know that you can buy maps of lakes for your phone as well. I think if you are wanting a decent GPS unit you are going to need to spend more than $200 or you will be disappointed in the functionality and use.

So Let's Hear It! What For Christmas??
My wife bought my entry fee into my first ever bass fishing tournament this spring. I have always wanted to enter one, but never have. I was blubbering like a baby!!! Am really excited, but so thankful I have such a wonderful wife and family that cares enough to support the things I enjoy doing. Can't wait for April to roll around!!!

Who Accomplished 2013 Fishing Resolutions?
My 2013 resolution was to learn to fish with a jig. I accomplished that with the swim jig and caught multiple bass on it. My largest being the fish pictured in my avatar!! Love the swim jig now and one of my go to baits. In 2014 I hope to learn how to catch fish working a jig on the bottom.
