In The Money!!!!
Participated in my second kayak tournament ever. Crazy day it was....So by 9:00 a.m. I have three pictures (kayak tournaments do combined length, catch, photo and release) of fish 2-12"'s and a 14" for a total of 36 inches. I was happy because now that I had my three fish I could start hog hunting. About 10:00 a.m. I hooked into a monster. Got her in the boat and started taking my pics with my iphone. After taking my last pic I moved my hand down to reposition my phone and the fish kicked sending my phone into the water!!! So I basically just threw my live-well into the water. I still had the big fish so I stuck her back on my line and paddled across the lake with my pole between my legs to a fellow angler. He ended up having a camera and seemed just as excited as me that I caught this fish. He took the pics for me and was able to bring it to "weigh-in." Was 20 inches. I went ahead and weighed her and she weighed 5 3/4 lbs. Had I been able to turn in my other previous pics I would have come in 2nd place. Shows you you can't make big mistakes like that and expect to win. At least I got the big fish prize and it was the first time I had won any money. So I am still stoked. Even though my phone cost more to replace than I made.

Ascend D10T Or Perception Sport Access 11.5 Kayak
My brother-in-law just bought the ascend. Really likes it. Only complaint is the seat gets really hard after sitting for a while. To fix that he is just getting an extra pad to put under him. I think at that price point they are probably all comperable. Personally all the pelican yaks that I have seen just seem really cheap to me. That being said I have never paddled one. Hope that helps.

Fishing Kayak Help Buying
If you have roof crossbars for your SUV then you just need kayak holders. For $99 the Even Keel system by Yakima is hard to beat. That would leave you with about $600 for a yak. I would strongly suggest you buy used and just get the best deal you can find on an angling yak. If you have to go new the bass pro ascend yaks seem to be the best bang for the buck in that price range. Although they are pretty heavy. Good luck. Hope you find something.

Giant Trolling Motor Eating Lake Monster Or Fish And General Crappy Day

125.00 Budget For New Jigs
Siebert has great jigs for sure. Love the fact that he has the wide gap swim jig. Great colors and selection. Also like the fact the he keeps improving on his jigs (i.e. colors, hooks, etc.). And yes....wire tie is a must and well worth the extra .25.

Need Some Advice From Experience
As Slonezp said it is really not much extra in gas to go from TX to FL. If it is a good deal and you feel really comfortable with the boat no need to wait. Pull the trigger. After a big move like that you are probably going to need some time out on the water anyway.

Can't Decide Between A Kayak Or A Jon Boat
I just wear my rain gear over whatever will keep me warm enough. Only thing that gets cold and wet are my hands, but I plan on getting better gloves in the fall. I have a sit-on-top so I make sure that I have all my scupper plugs plugged up as well. One comment on the jon boat vs. kayak....Kayaks are gaining in popularity all over the US. Because of this kayak fishing clubs and tournaments are popping up all over as well. I don't know if you have any interest in tournament fishing or joining a club, but if you get a jon boat you would immediately eliminate that possibility unless you find a club that is geared toward electric/small boat only. Which I don't know that there are that many across the US. I fished my first tournament in a kayak two weeks ago and it was a blast. Not to mention it was very reasonable compared to clubs/tourneys in a powerboat. It was only $25 (big bass pot included). If I would have entered a tournament with my powerboat your are looking at shelling out at least $50 entry fee up to $150-$200, plus gas for the boat on top of that. Not only did I have a great time, but I met a lot of fellow anglers that I can glean information and techniques from. Just a thought. Good luck.

What Should I Do?!
Contact the police and speak directly with them is very good advice. Take down the name of the officer you talk with so that you can reference it if there is a problem where the police are called. Also, make sure you do everything in your power not to escalate the situation. Keep your cool and make the authorities fight your battle. If he starts yelling I would contact the police and have them come out and talk with him. The worst thing you can do is set off some unstable person. That is how people get hurt.

Who Gave Up Their Boat For A Kayak ?
I have both a boat and a kayak. Only way I would sell my motorboat is if I could no longer afford the maintenance or it had a huge mechanical problem that I just could not fix. It is completely paid off so there is no monthly expense. I like having the kayak to get out in because I don't have to worry about launch fees and it opens up different small waters to me, but I love having the motorboat too. It's the best of both worlds.

Positioning Boat. Running Trolling Motor
Get an electric steer terrova with ipilot and let the boat drive itself. I say this mostly in jest, but there is some truth to it. I never could get really good at driving my boat and fishing all at once with the cable steer. Especially when the wind would blow. Now I just point it in a direction I want to go and start fishing. I do know guys that can drive and fish so well you would have thought the foot pedal was attached to their foot, but that was not me. Glad I made the switch.

Central Indiana - Smallies Goin Crazy
Went out Saturday and ended up with 4. It was just a private pond, but still a great time. With 20mph winds did not want to get out on the big lake and not be able to paddle back. Water temps were from 55-60.
