Aluminum Vs Fiberglass And A Few Other Questions
I agree with the other guys on what has been mentioned. I have a 17 ft Grumman deep V bass boat. It is my first boat, but I am really glad that I got aluminum and not fiberglass for the main reason that was mentioned above. I don't have to worry about running into things. I like the confidence of knowing I am not going to punch a hole in my boat if I hit a branch, stump, or rock. As far as stowing your gear in your boat. Are you parking your boat in a garage? If you are not you may want to re-think leaving your gear in your boat anyway do to condensation. When I first bought mine I left my rods/reels in the rod locker until I came out one morning and they were soaked from the condensation in the air. Since then I store everything inside. Since I don't have a fiberglass boat I can't comment as to whether it would be any better in fiberglass, but I know with my boat it just does not work. Something to think about.

White Rod Invisible To Fish?
Hahaha..... That is quality stuff!! To answer the question...If they are close enough to see my fishing rod they are close enough to see my fat gut. I think the latter would be more frightening.

Shimano Sellus
I would step up to the Clarus. With the TW sale that is a good rod with a lifetime warranty. Plus like previously said it will get you the free shipping as well.

Ok So Now We See It!!back To The Original Claim Will It Revolutionize Fishing"???
I will probably buy one or two and see how they do. Am really interested in how they do with some of the toothy critters!!! I think Pike and Musky will really like the erratic action it imparts. I don't see it as anything revolutionary. Although it may start a race for other companies to develop different lips on their baits as well.

Best Rod Under $100
I have the clarus, compre, and powell diesel which are all rods under $100. I like all of them. Clarus has worked well for me and I have no complaints. It is a good rod. But right now with Tackle W having 25% off on all the shimano rods if I was buying a rod under $100 I would be pulling the trigger on the compre no doubt about it. $89 for a 7'2" MF is a great deal for a great rod. Especially with a lifetime warranty!! Although I really like the quality of the diesel as well, if warranty is not an issue you can't go wrong there either. I purchased a Veritas originally and had to return it because of the epoxy chipping around one of the guides, and so went with the diesel instead. I have seen so many complaints on the veritas that I will probably stay away from them until they get that fixed. Am really impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship of the diesel and the way it feels in my hands, but i have not been able to fish it yet. It is a good thing I blew all my fishing money on a new trolling motor or TW would be getting more of my business.

Reliability Of Tw?
I have not bought any reels from them, but I have bought several fishing rods and various tackle. They are great and their customer service is excellent.

Your Worst Gear Purchase?
Bought a terribly cheap baitcaster at Wally World. Combo cost maybe $30. Fished with it one time and took it back. Did not buy another baitcaster for 10 years I hated that thing so much. Finally bought a curado e7 and never looked back.

Favorite Soft Plastic??

Charging Batteries In Parallel
I have a Dual Pro Charger Sportsmans Series, 2 bank battery charger, 10 amps per bank, for a 12v system. I am looking at buying two new deep cycle batteries to run in parallel with each other. So what I am wondering is if my charger can charge these batteries with one of my banks or do I need to buy a single bank charger to put on my cranking battery and dedicate the Dual Pro Charger to my deep cycles? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks guys!!

Favorite Spinning Reel Under $100
I know this is not a big name brand, but I just buy the Gander Mountain GSX Tournament and GSX Titanium spinning reels. Every November I go in there on Black Friday and they mark them down to $29 (normally $59) for the tournament and $35 (normally $79) for the titanium. (at least the past couple of years they have) I buy at least one and I have been really happy with them. I know they may not be top of the line, but knowing that if I break one I am only out $30-$35 is worth it to me. That being said if I were to buy either the sahara or president it would be the president.

No Tw President Day Sale

Hank Parker's Latest Article!
Great article. I look forward to many memories fishing with my kids. The best fishing trip I had last summer was with my four year old son. Will always remember it. Did not catch any monster bass, but the memories that I made with him will far outlast any fish I would ever catch.

Another Boat Advice Thread...
If you have doubts about the motor I would walk away!! For 8k you should be able to find a really nice boat with a motor you can have confidence in. Don't risk it. A bad motor is a money hole that will take all the fun out of your boat.

The Bait Monkey..myth..
I don't doubt the existence of the bait monkey. The only question I have about the bait monkey is.....Is the bait monkey responsible for me buying a trolling motor this winter?? or is that the boat baboon??

Boat Storage Unit (Should I Or Not?)
x3 on the boat cover. Use the other money to improve your boat in other ways or keep for costs and repairs.

Is This A 22 Incher?
There is always a bigger one out there!! Nice catch though!!! I would not submit anything unless I could say for sure it was 22". Great fish. I am sure you got plenty of pics.

Mono Or Braided Line? Or Both?
I agree with pretty much what everyone else has said. Love braid on my spinning reels and bait-casters. Use a mono leader on both and make it as long as I can without the knot getting onto the reel. Although I still like straight mono on my bait-caster for my treble hook baits because of the added stretch.

If Your Looking For A New Terrova 55 Lb, 48".....
Have I got a deal for you!! I have to tell my story first. I have been looking for a new trolling motor and finally decided on the Terrova 55lb thrust. The problem was that I could only afford the base model in my price range. I think this is not the best time to be buying stuff b/c I could not find any sales and even the ones that were on sale were all sold out. I finally found a place called imarineusa.com which had a new Terrova 55 lb 48" shaft with auto pilot and US2 for $867 (20% off retail price which is around $1109) which was a great price, but still out of my price range. Although after looking around I figured this might just be the best deal possible so I called them to see if the could come down anymore. Talked with a guy there on the phone and asked him if he would even take $40 off and he said they would not as they are normally the lowest prices on the net. So I decided I would see about them ordering me a base model that retails for $789. He said I would need to call him the next day with a parts number. So the next day I call back and talk with a lady by the name of Suzanne. And explain that I was possibly wanting them to order a new trolling motor for me and just wanted the base model. I give her the product number and she lets me know she will get back with me. She calls me an hour later and says that it would probably be about 1-2 months to get one in, but the price would be $732 which is below retail. Then she says she has one that is in stock with the 55lb, 48"shaft, but it has autopilot and US2 that she would give me for the same price of $732!! So basically I was able to pick it up for 40% off!! For me it was definitely a blessing from the Lord!! The thing is they have one more left in stock so I figured one of my bassresource buddies might need a blessing too. Shipping is free and no tax. I received the package in 3 days. Hope this helps someone out!! Let me know if it works for you.
