Listen To Music While Fishin?
RW, I totally agree that fishing is relaxing and fun, but my fishing situation is much different than yours. I guess I should have explained why I mentioned "alert" so you wouldn't have called me out. My fishing time is very limited so I normally start fishing an hour or so before sunrise and only stay for a few hours. The lake I normally fish at is a Los Angeles city lake and it just happens to have a fairly high crime rate. There is problem with drug dealers, assaults, and robberies. I don't fish the lake in fear, but I just like to be aware of my surroundings. -brian

Listen To Music While Fishin?
I never listen to music or the radio when fishing. I'm sure it keeps me more alert since I don't. -b

Bucket Fisherman
As a bass fisherman who fishes Los Angeles City Lakes, I've always considered a "Bucket Fisherman" a fishernan who takes home anything that fits in their bucket. From what I see, they are generally people who are fishing for Catfish or Carp, but they take home any bass they manage to catch, regardless of it's size. Always makes me sick when I see a guy with Zero knowledge of bass fishing using a 10 foot rod equipped with a rod bell, 65 lb braid with night crawler take home a 9 lb bass for dinner. -b

Rod/reel Suggestions New Fisherman
Very good advice there. I'd also like to add one thing. U mentioned there are areas that still have some cover. Those are the areas u need to target until your lake's water temps warm up. -b

Suggestions For Shallow Lake
Mark, I normally fish a lake that sounds like the lake u explained. I've had good luck using a drop shot. I've also had luck using texas rigged creatures and or worms making sure I'm keeping contact with the bottom. -b

"one More Cast With Shaw Grigsby" Is At Falcon Lake
Caught it last night on my DVR. Another very good episode for sure. I really liked the way that bait looked as he dragged it on the bottom. That seems to be the presentation that's working out in my neck of the woods. I'll have to add Smokin Rooster CROWS to my must have list. -brian
