How Do I Catch Bass On Nests?
We are on the post spawn right now and the males are guarding the fry's. I was doing some site fishing the other day and found a spot where the bass were just 3 to 5 ft off the shore. I was able to stand several feet off the shore and on the side of the tree yet I could still see the bass. In 20 minutes I was able to still site fish and catch 3 in that area on a drop shot, where normally I have to make a longer cast so I'm not seen or scare the bass away. -b

Do You Have A Favorite Fishing Knot That You Use For Non Fishing Applications?
I don't have a favorite fishing knot for non-fishing yet, but I'll have to look into it. I use a Bowline knot at work. It's very easy and perfect for doing temporary rigging until I'm able to rig with cable. The bowline is for boating....I guess that's close to fishing. LOL -b

Fluorocarbon Knots
Thanks for the info..I just tried it out a few times and it seems to be very easy and little friction when doing the knot. I'll have to try it out next time at the lake. -brian

Question About Drop Shot Stuff
You can get away with a baitcaster setup, but you really should get some finesse worms like Roboworm, Owner Shivertails, or equiv. You need dropshot hooks. I personally like using the Owner 5177 size #1 or #2 depending on the worm and you should get a drop shot weight with the special drop shot clips. -brian

Yamamoto Baits
You can't go wrong with the ones mentioned. I'd like to mention Yamamoto Kreatures. I've had great luck with them on Owner Twistlock hooks weightless & rigged normal and backwards. I've also had very good luck using them with 1/8 ounce weight / Texas rigged with EWG hooks too. Using the Kreatures before sun up in Black and Blue was deadly for me last summer. -brian

What Reel?
Shimano is way better? Well that depends on what model Abu to Shimano you are comparing. I originally had a Revo S and really liked it and decided to upgrade ...Now I've been using a Revo STX HS for the last 2 years and love it. Super smooth, great drag and has been zero probs. I just recently used a brand new Shimano Curado 200 series and liked my STX much better. I would decide your budget on a reel and see what Abu or Shimano you like the best. You seriously won't go wrong with either. Brian

Local Walmarts Fishing Dept Upgrade
I was at my local Walmart the other day and thought I'd check out the fishing section. The fishing section is all on one aisle, but it has received some new products. They have the Abu Vendetta rods and some nice Quantum's now, but the rods are shoved in with the regular rods and are very packed. Unless Walmart adds another aisle the rods will be getting thrashed there. They also added some Skeet Reese,Shimano reels, and some better tackle boxes too. I really hoping they will redo their terminal tackle section with a better selection of Owner and Gammy's. For the most part, my Walmart as of yesterday is totally worthless for a smart bass angler. -b

Worm Fishing... Getting Hung Up In Weeds
Very good advice mentioned above. I've had very good luck in the past throwin a 5" Senko, tex-exposed (weightless) into the grass and let it get caught up in the grass. Let it sit, get caught up, and let it fall with a slightly slacked line and wait for any line movement. You can work the entire water column if u work it slow and just let the Senko work for you. Works deadly at my local lakes when the grass comes back during the late spring and summer. -b

Difference Between Roboworms
I think both worms you mentioned are great worms for several presentations. I've used them both on texas rigs, shaky heads and drop shots. Lately I've been using the 4 1/2" and 6" the Fat Tail Roboworms on a drop shot the last several times out and they seem to catch some quality fish. I switched to a flickshake worm on a wacky in the very same spot and seem to catch the sub 2 lb models.
