Giving Out Your Honey Holes
Threatening to remove his family jewels with a pair of rusty pliers is probably too extreme, huh? You should have blindfolded him and frisked him for a GPS before taking him there. I'm afraid the cat is probably out of the bag.

Signs Of Fall
"Tourons go home" being repeated wasn't missed by me. : ) Hmmm...let's see.... *The pleasant odor of the furnace when it first kicks on *Combines sending dust in the air as they harvest field corn and, later, soybeans-and the glowing orange sunsets which occur because of it *The semi's and grain wagons which line the end rows of farm fields *The buzzing and popping of grasshoppers and other bugs on dry leaves *Pumpkins and gourds displayed prominantly on straw bales and on the front steps of homes *Contemplating life while watching leaves drift lazily to the ground *Gunshots echoing through the woods *Trying on long sleeve shirts you almost forgot you had *Paper ghosts, jack-o-lanterns, bats, skeletons, etc. taped on school windows *Standing under a glowing orange, red, or yellow sweetgum or maple tree and feeling like you've been swallowed up by a hot air balloon *bright red sumac bushes lining the roadsides. *Rotting black walnut hulls permeating the crisp air

My Theory For Beginning Fisherman
I, also, bristled at the original posting and thought about making a comment to that effect but then I reconsidered. Still, it seems I'm not alone.

Signed Up For Hunter's Ed!
Ah, the hunters safety course! I took that course more years ago than I care to think about. It was, for me anyway, an important right of passage. Treat it seriously but have fun with it, too.

How Do You Prepare
Your situation sounds ideal to me. When it's hot and humid like it's been, almost NOTHING can talk me into going out but otherwise, it's not a tough decision. The best way to go "on the fly" is to always be somewhat prepared. That means, for me, having a "special" box with a cross-section of baits I might want to use and having 2 or three rods/reels prepped and ready to go. As far as loading/strapping down a kayak goes, find the easiest system possible for carrying it. If it's a pain, it's gonna be easier to look for excuses not to go. The more work that is done in advance will make the the day of the trip that much less painful.

Anybody Run Into This Little Problem Before?
Had a friend in Los Angeles who always left his soft-top Renegade's doors unlocked. I asked him why-especially with this being Los Angeles and all- and he said they'd just cut it right open if they wanted in. And then he'd be out a top in addition to whatever they stole. Messed up world we live in.

Powerbait Crazy Legs Chigger Craw
If a claw or "flipper" breaks off (which they have a tendency to do), you can string a flipper from another worn out chigger craw onto the hook-(just prior to running the point through the bait the second (final) time). It's not perfect but especially when the bite is fast and furious, it'll save some $$$$.

Don't Make To Much Fun Of Me, It's Done
I repaired/wrapped a couple of guides using sewing thread and glittery Hard As Nails fingernail polish. By comparison yours looks like a masterpiece. If it works, be proud and use it.

I'm Catching More Pike Than Bass, Is It My Location, Bait Or Something Else?
Can you change "like" to "pike"? It may help you get more responses.

Help In Decision.. Fish Vs Golf
Can you fish the water hazards at the golf courses you visit? If so, I'd go with golf.

Best Box For Terminal Tackle?
Why would you want a special box for tackle which is going to die anyway?

Frustrated From The Back Of The Boat
Seems like you are (or were) paying to watch someone else fish. I wouldn't do that to save my life. One can make a reasonably good arguement that the non-boater hasn't really any room to complain but I have (finally) accrued enough wisdom and awareness about myself to not put myself into situations where I ultimately want to kick someones arse-especially if I'm expected to share gas, launching fees, etc.

Cleaning The Tackle Box
Turn lemons into lemonaide: Save them and then use them this winter for ice fishing. Or, let them grow up into flies and then just let them fly off.

Recommended Tackle Bag For A Big, Muscly Guy At 245 Pounds?
Secure a couple of straps to a Maytag refridgerator and use that. It'll hold a LOT of baits and, especially, keep live bait healthy indefinitely. Of course the extenstion cord might be a nuisance but a big strapping fellow such as yourself should be able to manage that. ; )

Do You Fish Alone Or With A Buddy?
My eldest sister recently told me I don't suffer fools lightly. That may have just been her way of saying I'm intolerant of others. I can't say for certain. Anyway, I guess it all depends upon the company and/or their level of enthusiasm, etc. If a person is late (more than 15 minutes) to the truck or the ramp, they likely won't be invited back. If it feels like work to be with them, they probably won't be invited back. If they whine constantly because it's too cold, too hot, or too buggy, they won't be invited back (unless I feel the same way too). If they are super competitive and remind me every five minutes that they are three fish ahead of me, they won't be invited back. If, on the other hand, they are fairly punctual, curious, willing to learn, and like to be out for its own sake, they are good candidates. SOMETIMES I like to go out by myself simply so I can concentrate on whichever whim I choose and not have to worry about if I am boring or disrespecting the rights of the other person(s) in the boat. If I want to bury my boat in the weeds and vertically jig into a hole for 15 minutes, I like to be able to do so. Sometimes I like to be utterly selfish. About every 3rd or 4th (or sometimes even 2nd) trip needs to be a loner trip for this reason.

Bill Dance And Private Ponds
The man is 74, almost 75 years old fer cryin' out loud. He's paid his dues. He didn't get where he is by being lucky. For those who like to bad mouth him, I'd wager he could still whip the flip right out of most of them in a fair "fight."

A Lure You Were Disappointed In After Using It
It's funny how all across the board everyone is. A friend of mine HATED spinner baits until the time we went out and slayed the bass with them. Now I'm pretty sure he has more spinner baits than I do.

What Would You Ask....
Probably this: "Do you all get together in some kind of town meeting to decide on what types and color of baits you're going to bite today?"

A Lure You Were Disappointed In After Using It
Um...isn't that erratic movement purposefully designed INTO the scatter rap? Just sayin'.

Ideas For Displaying Lures
I know that lures are meant to be fished but some are just too pretty (or rare) to meet their fate to a watery grave. Or, at least, when they aren't being fished it's a shame to not put them on display. Another interesting thread asked how many of one's baits have actually been USED (with some answers indicating less than half) which prompts me to ask this: Do you have any good ideas on how to prominantly/attractively display hardbaits without damaging them and still making them realistically accessible? I've thought about getting a shadow box but one good bump and I can envision most of the baits flopping on their sides in a most unsavory way. I don't really want to hang them from their tie points and I'm scratching my head on how to best go about doing this. Are there any products on the market for displaying baits? Thanks much!
