  1. I sent you a PM. Wacky fishing is a lot of fun. Give it a try.
  2. Today is the National Signing Day for college football. Uncommitted players from across the nation will be selecting their universities today. You may want to check your favorite college's sports page to see if they received the commitment letters from those recruits they were trying to lure to their program. What is a shame is that many of the top high school players cannot academically qualify to play and will have to either go to a lower ranked school or a military academy.

Tin, There is a wonderful post somewhere in this section from a guy who did the mathematics regarding the number of people who would see the advertiser's logos. To the tournaments and practice; during practice; during the tournaments; on the way home, etc. A sponsor needs to know the areas you will be fishing to be sure his products and services are marketed within his geographical area; the number of people who will see his logo; the ages and sex of the people; the medium income levels; etc. You will have to "guess" at some of these responses but you can see where I am coming from. For instance, let's say I own a bail bonding company. I would want my logo to be seen by young men under the age of 25; politicians; lawyers; and other crooks. Give it some thought as to the number of people you will pass on the way to and from practice and tournaments, etc. And if you can find that old post you will have hit gold. Good luck.
  4. Of course market yourself. You have nothing to lose and it is good experience. You will meet some interesting people, too.
  5. And don't forget to locate your state' FLW or B.A.S.S. federations that should have a list of the bass clubs throughout the state.
  6. KVD was always friendly at the old Bassmasters University series. And his seminars were excellent. He is a great ambassador for bass fishing. Maybe one day you can meet him and he will autograph your photo. In fact, maybe you can send him a letter asking him if he would autograph the photo. If so, get it blown up to 8 and a half by eleven and send it to him along with an envelope with postage on it so he can mail it back. You did good.
  7. That is a gorgeous cake. Beautiful. Someone is a wonderful artisan to put that cake together. Happy Birthday, Burley.
  8. I hope it lands in the ocean. If it hits the ground it will be one heck of an explosion.
  9. Muddy, I totally enjoyed the game. I am not a "Manning" fan but Eli played like a seasoned pro. The Giants defense was beautiful, putting pressure on Brady the entire game. That was the best Super Bowl I ever saw. And I liked the Budwiser commercial with the horse working out with the dalmation. Great music and outstanding camera work.
  10. All I have are seven old lures. They are framed and are in my office. I got rid of all of my old stuff and replaced it with newer stuff as one has only so much room in the house before the wife starts to complain. That reel looks beautiful and in great condition. Have you had it valued?

That fish looks almost as big as the child. Great story. With both you you having large fish on the line, who got the net?????
  12. The main difference between fishing from a boat and the shore is that on shore you can't fall out of the boat and in the boat you can's step on a snake. Just throw what you believe will work. I caught my three largest bass fishing ponds. I lost my three biggest bass fishing from a boat. Welcome to the forum. Glad you are with us.
  13. The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia is hosting the Sex Workers Art Show this week. Talk about sick. The show is then moving to a homosexual place in Richmond on Friday. I guess the W&M kids need this type of show to see how to do what when they grow up. Or, it could be for the faculty. Yes, the faculty. What in the world is this country coming to? Who needs something like this in the first place, and then they show it on the campus of one of our leading institutions of higher education? If anyone goes please PM me on it. ;D ;D ;D
  14. 70* on tap in Richmond, Virginia for tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 5, Mardi Gras Day. We froze our fannies off last week. Go figure.
  15. Burley, I did not know that you could read.

I care. It is a lot of fun. You need to loosen up and have some fun, other than fishing. I also like NASCAR and college football and women's basketeball and Indy racing. Expand your interests. Have fun.
  17. Stopped betting on games a long time ago. It is more fun just to sit back and watch the game without any stress of losing or winning money. You do this when you get old.

Burley, In the good ole days, insurance companies would rate boys and girls separate. Today, many of the insurance companies the blend the two together to arrive at a rate. It is called progress! And one more item, look at the "code" on your policy to see if there is a "1" at the end of the numbers. A "1" means you are being charged a "point" for an accident. These numbers tell the underwriter all about you and your vehicle.
  20. Sam replied to Tin's topic in Everything Else
The carrier may have readjusted your rates based on the accident. If the carrier does not give you a valid reason you can always ask your state's Bureau of Insurance for their assistance in clarifying the charge. The "type" of carrier may also have an impact on your rates. If you are dealing with a Surples/Excess lines carrier due to your age or driving record then these types of carriers can do what they want, take it or leave it. If the carrier is admitted and approved to conduct business in Rhode Island then you can have a complete explanation from the carrier and also ask for asssitance from the Bureau of Insurance. Have you shopped your auto insurace? You may want to do this just to confirm if 1) any other carrier will accept you; and 2) if the premiums are in line with your renewal. Don't forget GEICO, Nationwide, State Farm and Allstate. Please let us know what happens either as a continuation of this post or a new post. Thanks.

Insurance consultant...no sales. I screw the insurance companies before they screw my clients.

Funny. But if you notice in both the BCS and Super Bowl the caps are ready to go right after the game. Now I know that when LSU won its first BCS title the caps had a place on the front to sew either LSU or Oklahoma. I have one of these caps from the LSU locker room. You can tell them as the LSU tag is held on by a little sewing in the middle of the "LSU." If you noticed during the end of the game, we saw the Giants Super Bowl cap even before the game was over. Burley, I hope you have that publication. It is part of your retirement.
  23. I no longer use "house brand" reels. I do like the Bass Pro Shop rods. It would be interesting to see who manufacturers these "house brands" for BPS, Cabella's, Gander Mountain, Dick's, etc. And how the "house brands" materials and specs differ from the brand name's materials and specs. Where is Consumer Reports when you really need them?
  24. Sorry to miss the show but wife has plans for this weekend and I have to attempt to install a sliding screen on our new Anderson sliding door.
