  1. It's crap like this that gets folks like PETA all riled up. Then they protest all fishing with things like "oh the humanity". They killing all those fish, yadda-yadda. Those guys should all be fined, rods/reels/tackle/boats seized, licenses (fishing) revoked, (drivers) suspended. 114 days in jail for each guy.
  2. I'm not to sure on jig fishing. But I like what I see with Berkley Snap Jigs & Half Head Jigs. I would like to get a few all around jigs for fishing most species. The Snap Jigs come in 8 colors & 3 sizes. While the Half Head Jigs have 7 colors and over 12 size combos. I want to narrow my selection with your help. If could only pick one size for the Snap Jigs which one? 3/8 oz, 1/4 oz, 3/16 oz? What would be your color choices? Which would be your top four colors? Colors: Black Black Shad Chartreuse Firetiger Green Pumpkin Pearl White Purple Pearl Watermelon Pearl ____________________________________ How about the Half Head Jigs? If you could pick one size, which one? What would be your preferred size combination? Hook Size: 1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0 Tackle Size: 1/16 oz, 1/8 oz, 1/4 oz, 3/8 oz What would be your color choices? Which would be your top four colors? Color: Black Brown Chartreuse Firetiger Green Pumpkin Pearl White Smelt So what do you like, or suggest I stick with?
  3. @ Manly Studson - You could pick a decent 5pc spoon assortment for about $5 at Walmart. If worried, you can easily swap the trebles for single hooks. They also have various "cheap*" brands of popular designs. Some good lures for kids: Phoebe*, CLEO*, In-line Spinners*. There should be plenty of cheaper models of these to try. Once they get the hang of these, they could move on the the name $$ brands. :)
  4. If I need to fish through the pads, then I try flipping straight to them. Try using something like a snagproof frog, craw or mouse with a flippin' weight attached. You gotta get the fishes attention with splashing noise. I try flippin' onto a pad near an opening. Then I try poppin' it across the opening to get a strike. You can always change lures, weight size, or weight direction. Whatever works for you.
  5. How about any of these? Do any of them preform better than the others? 6. I'm looking for some suggestions for swimbait hooks for grubs, worms, lizards, etc. Which should I stick with? Sizes: 3/0, 4/0, 5/0 ?? Brands: VMC, Eagle Claw, Mustad, Berkley, Owner, Gamakatsu, Trokar ?? Weighted or Unweighted? With or W/O Screw lock? What hooks would be good across the board for bass, catfish, trout, crappie, etc?
  7. ^8 A little late or early for the season, but I will play.
  8. ^ 8 that gets me thinking about this one by "Byron Lee and The Dragoniares". and from the movie: Dr. No (1963) Jump Up - Byron Lee and The Dragonaires
  9. thx for the links guys. @fin those lures look kinda rough. lol But they give me some ideas to try. As for the Pirana lures, i think they would make a better keychain.
  10. Thx for the heads up. I will give them a look. That was my main concern. I've never heard of this brand, thought someone here may have. I can see a a new minnow stick bait coming on the market soon. "Fizzy Minnow" I thought that it was cool looking. But the price isn't cool. If I had some extra cash to waste, I might get one. But it wouldn't be my first purchase.
  11. I came across these crankbaits a while back. They look interesting, but a bit gimmicky. https://www.piranafishinglures.com/ There price seems a bit high. I could get a a couple nice cranks of good quality for the price of one of these. What do you guys think of them? Has anyone tried them? How well do they work?
  12. ^8 Another instrumental
  13. 7^ a couple more for Heartland & halochef :) Or with a little more flair.

  15. Phoebe or Little Cleo
  16. @ Turkey sandwich - thx for posting that. Those videos confirmed to me a lot of stuff I was doing was right. It also showed me a few things I should change/try for better results. Even though it focus mainly on fly fishing, it will help with any presentation.
  17. Hmm, I'm Right handed, cast with my left hand, reel with my right, and my left eye is dominant. But I'm still in my right mind. lol Besides the fish don't care how the bait is thrown to them.
  18. Thx guys, brass it is. To scuff them would sand paper be fine? Which grit #? Or should I use steel wool? I was thinking of stringing some on a steel wire to scuff them up in batches.
  19. So it doesn't really matter which I get brass or nickel? I was looking at the various lure bodies here: https://www.jannsnetcraft.com/brass-lure-bodies/ Does any one body shape paint easier than the others? If I liked the way the bodies came out, I was going to also paint some blades.
  20. I would like to build some more inline spinners. The first time I got some kits with painted bodies. Those inline spinners turned out fairly well. This time I would like to try my hand at painting my own spinner bodies. Which metal would accept paint better Brass or Nickel? I know I will have to scuff either up before painting. But will one work better than the other? I'm thinking of trying out the nail polish method. Any tips on doing it?
  21. Although I do like fried frog legs, I'd rather be fishing then chasing after kermits. :) I did see it, but I didn't see the proper "specs" listed. So I listed the the ones that had all there specs listed. I'm not talking about Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake George, Saratoga Lake, etc. Those are way to big and busy for what I like to do. Local areas I'd like to try are: Collins Park Lake Rensselaer Lake (Six Mile Waterworks) Grafton Lakes small river tributaries (quiet sections) That's what I'm looking for something I can use for the planned fishing in the locations I can get to. Based on my space constraints that's inflatables. Kayak, Pontoon or Canoe? From the list above my favs are: Classic Accessories Colorado XTS Fishing Inflatable Pontoon Boat Classic Accessories Colorado XT Inflatable Pontoon Boat Aquaglide BLACKFOOT ANGLER 125 HB Sevylor Coleman Colorado 2-Person Fishing Kayak I like them for various reasons: capacity, features, functionality, portability, color, modifications, etc. Has anyone tried any/all of these, if so can you give a more detailed insight? How would you rate them by capacity, features, functionality, portability, modifications, etc? Is there anything else that is as good, the same, better? Thx for the help. :)
  22. @ Allen Der - I live in a small apartment. Nothing is allowed in the common areas. @ FryDog62 - Besides my lack of storage space, the inflatable would be easy to transport in most vehicles without issues. Anymore insight on the inflatables I posted? there others I should also checkout?
