Orra Sx Brake Settings
Would like some advice and To have a better understanding on what setting is best for this reel. I have been using it on factory settings but have been kinda disapointed on the distance I get with a cast. Factory sets it up with three breaks activated, I just set it to only use two and gonna see how it works on my next outing, but there are also three breaks for pitching that I am not familiar with, tried to just use the pitch breaks and made normal casts and practiced pitching, but I could not tell a big difference. How do some of you set your breaks up and do you ever use the pitch breaks?

Abu Garcia Veritas
I have two Veritas, one 6.6 med action and one 7' med heavy action. I dont have a lot of experience with Higher end rods but I will say that I kinda abuse them a lil more than I like, from transporting them to local ponds to transporting to bigger lakes in a aluminum boat with no cover or protection, I am impressed at the level of durability. And compared to other poles the I pick up at the random outdoor stores I am impressed with how lite they are compared to others. I cant compare how sensitve they are to others except Carrot Stix, but I am also impressed with that as well. If you are wanting to spend $100 bucks on a pole, you will not be disappointed if you purchase the Veritas.

Abu Garcia Orra Or Bps Pro Qualifier?
I have a Orra SX paired with a 7' Veritas MH action rod, for the money I have no complaints. I did however have birdbesting issues with the Orra when I 1st purchased the reel, after doing research I read that it was not uncommon of this problem, but the solution was simple, clean the excess oil out of it, mine was too heavy on the oil. After that I have not had any issues.

Wife's Birthday Coming Up.
Great advice, but this is just one of among other things she will be getting, she stated she wants a better set up.

Wife's Birthday Coming Up.
As the title states her birthday is coming up, looking to get her a new fishing pole set up preferably from *** since I need to order a couple of other things anyway. Budget is about $130 or below for the combo, she is starting to join me a lil more when going fishing, just wanting to get her a little more quality than her current shakespear lady pole. So, opinions on what I should get her? Spinning reels only by the way.

Bcs Championship Predictions
Why is Boise on this list? Even if they go undefeated, BCS polls wont give them a shot at national title.

Bcs Championship Predictions
LSU was lucky last year with their wins, not saying they are a bad team, but they won a couple of games by getting lucky. I dont think they will go all the way this year. Alabama has a good chance this year, other than LSU, Arkansas, their schedule should be tolerable to go undefeated. Oklahoma, has a solid team to go undefeated. FSU is my team, i hope they win it all, I predict ACC champs for FSU, but no National Champs.

Now A Believer!
6" lizard. Pumpkin seed w/ chartrues tail T-rigged works well for me. 90% of my catches are from the slow sinking action, if no bite I just slowly drag it across the bottom with a few twitches here and there.

Braid
I use spiderwire stealth braid. For the price I have no complaints.

Abu Garcia Orra Sx Reel
I purchased an orra sx about 2 months ago. Overall a good reel for the money. Only complaint I have (which is common with this reel) was that it was very easy to get birdnests, especially when pitching or making short casts. I fixed this by taking the reel apart, cleaning, then relubricating. From what i have researched too much grease and oil on these will cause birdnests to happen when they should not. Now, the reel works excellent with no problems.

Fighting A Losing Battle
I really appreciate your advice and help. The pictures u have listed of Heath lake and Antioch lake look nothing like the ones I fish, but I dont think it matters, i understand what u are saying with these two examples which makes it just as useful. Really though, thanks for helping me out. Soon as i make it out to the lakes i will let u guys know if I was successful or not.

Fighting A Losing Battle
The two lakes i am fishing mostly right now is located in Floyd County GA. Heath lake (AKA) Trophy lake is only open 1st ten days of each month, its not a huge lake roughly 200 acres. When that lake is closed i fish the lakes nearby which are open all month known as Antioch lake. I have a sat image of the lake but i could not get them posted on this thread.

Fighting A Losing Battle
I was mainly using t-rigged 6" lizard with bullet weight and then occasionaly using football jig and swimming jig. The last two largemouths i caught were using a spinnerbait off of a island in the lake.

Ok, will do. Thanks.

Checking The Weather
I use the weatherchannel app on my phone. I also look at the almanac for info on the best fishing days and times. To me it seems accurate most of the time.

Fighting A Losing Battle
Thanks on the correction of the difference of structure and cover. Also, please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly are u refering to when u say main lake points?

Fighting A Losing Battle
I tried to search for maps on the internet for the lakes i normally fish but no luck. I have not tried the local bait shops for the maps. But even with a map, i may find depths and some drop offs, but i dont think they tell u were underwater structure is. I guess using the football jig would tell me that. Im not that impatient when trying to figure things out, most of the time whoever i am fishing with at the time usually gets impatient pretty quick and is ready to leave if we are not producing and in return makes me feel rushed. I guess i need to start going alone.

Need Some Mature Opinions Please!
If i were in your position at your age, i would save the $ and convince the parents to get the tackle u want for christmas and birthdays.

Fighting A Losing Battle
Is it pointless to to fish larger lakes during this time of hot weather with out a depth finder? A couple of lakes that i regularly fish have been producing fish well for me up until the last month and half ago when the heat has really cranked up. I have a 14 ft jon boat, but no electronics. Only time i have been catching fish lately is when i go to the local smaller ponds. I feel i should just give up on anything larger until the temps start to come down.

New Southeast Member
Hey to all, i have been reading this forum for a couple of weeks now and i gotta say i have learned a lot, so thanks to all. Special thanks to RoadWarrior, i read his thread about how to fish a senko and put it to use today. Went to a local pond today after work and hooked i sure a 8 to 10 pound bass, unfortunatly there was about seven feet of extra thick floating grass/weeds about seven feet off the bank. The fish went right under it and got hung up. I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and went in after it, lol, but when i got within arms length of grabbing the fish he snapped my line and took off. Anyway, figured it was time to Introduce myself. I am located in northwest Ga.
