  1. Culprit Red Shad worm ALL the way! One of the best worms I've ever fished!
  2. HAHAHA I needed that good laugh! Nice!
  3. I've got it pre-ordered for XBOX! Can't wait to get my hands on it! It's gonna look astonishing on the consoles as well. Any news on beta for the consoles? I preordered Medal of Honor last year and got the limited edition so I should be getting an email soon in regards to the beta access.
  4. Sounds like you're off to a great start. And again, try to get a fingerling fish, that way it'll be more willing to adapt, and it'll grow to know you.
  5. I've heard of using canned corn for bluegill or other panfish, but not cats. I'll have to try it sometime.
  6. Does anyone use Zoom small tubes? I've been waiting to take a few bags of them down to the lake and was wondering the best way to rig them and work them. Thanks!
  7. Does anyone fish with in-line spinners or Beetle Spins?
  8. How well do the jointed Rapalas work? I've seen them before but never bought one.
  9. What kind of in-line spinners do you use? I have some Roostertails and Blue Fox inlines. Also, do you use Beetle Spins? I've got a few 1/32 oz waiting to be opened.
  10. Cut up shad works GREAT from what I hear, but I haven't ever used it. I agree on the chicken livers though! For some reason catfish can't resist them. And your catfishing style fits mine. Catfishing can be the most relaxing because you can just sit back and relax. As far as rigs are concerned, I usually use 10-12 lb main line, mono. I'll take a 1/2oz bank sinker and slide that up the main line, then add a plastic bead (flourescent orange) then tie on a swivel. Then I'll use either 15 lb mono or 50 lb Powerpro Braided Line, about a foot to a foot and a half of it, tie it to the other end of the swivel, then tie on your hook. The reason why I'll use a leader is because catfish have sandpaper type teeth, and they'll cause line abrasion like crazy. So after a few catches, you can just clip the leader off, then add another without sacrificing an inch of main line. Hope this helps some people!
  11. I've never used a Carolina Floater before, so I couldn't tell ya, but I HAVE caught catfish in dense grass and vegetation before, but never a nice channel. Only yellow bullheads (i believe that's what they are). When it comes to channels, look for a muddy/sandy bottom or right where a weedline meets a dirt bottom.
  12. I love the bitsy pond minnows by Strike King! Something fun to do with em is to wait til all the big "BULL"gill are spawning, and cast it right over their beds and crank it in. The fight from a massive bluegill is great on an Ultralight.
  13. Hey don't let folks getcha down! We've all gotta start somewhere, right? If it seems like a good setup right now then it's good! As long as you're comfortable with it and it meets your personal expectations then it's a good choice! You can always upgrade later on, and if you ever need advice on baits, presentations, techniques, or anything else related to bass fishing, or fishing in general, don't hesitate to ask!
  14. Congrats on the trip! I LOVE Bass Pro Shops. I go to the one in Spanish Fort Alabama. The store is absolutely AMAZING!!! The first time I went a few years ago my jaw DROPPED! And it STILL does everytime I go in there. It's just amazing. If any of ya'lls BPS stores have a White River Fly Shop, I'd advise to go check that out if you're a fan of taking the old fly rod out occasionally. AMAZING place to go to !
  15. Well, I have a 5/6 weight fly rod, and a small assortment of flies. I won't be going back to Bass Pro for another month or so, and I have an abundance of small Kahle hooks, and size 2 and 4 crappie/aberdeen hooks. What kind of fly patterns could I tie and what common materials could be used? just trying to find a use for all of these hooks and pass the time til my next trip to BPS !
  16. I actually caught about an 8 inch bass, maybe a 9 tonight on my UL on a live mosquitofish and slip float rig. I threw it out and was talkin to my friend and didn't even know something was on until I pulled in a little slack. Felt like a nice crappie or bluegill. It's always fun fishing for anything that'll bite, just to add a little suspense .
  17. Any kind of flour, water, and cornmeal mix would be a good start. Then you begin adding any preferred scent. Garlic powder would be a great start, as well as mixing something like cheese-whiz etc. to give it that cheesy flavor might also help to draw them in. Remember, catfish will eat just about anything you have in your kitchen , and they'll do so happily. Just be creative!
  18. I'm sure it's just preference, but I just really like Stren. Maybe because Bill Dance endorses it so much?
  19. Does anyone else here fish ultralight gear? If so what are your preferences?
  20. It's rare that I find a deformed Zoom bait where I live, and I'm also leaning towards the storage factor because I doubt they'd let them come out of the factory with that many defects.
  21. I was using Berkley Trilene XL Smooth Casting on all of my reels but then heard a lot of good things about Stren Original (purple label) and I purchased a few different spools in the green color, and love it now. I find it seems to tie up better, and it handles better. Just my take on it though. What do you all think?
  22. What kind of rod came with the reel? Is it an Abu rod or something else?
  23. Hey could you post a pic of your aquarium? Thanks.
  24. Thanks! I'll check em out!
  25. How much weight for the Carolina rig? And how long of a leader?
