  1. I would reccomend getting two, but catch them both at the same time out of the same body of water and introduce them into a 55g tank. 55s are perfect for bluegill, redears, and just about any other type of sunnies. Just make sure your water conditions are good, and the pH stays at a good level. Also, make sure you have a good filter rated for slightly over 55g, that way your tank stays pristine, and do water changes, about 15-20% every week or two.
  2. Do you think these would be alright on a T-Rig?
  3. Wow I should try that dead ringer on a shaky head around here. Bass love the rig, and I think by cutting down on length and adding to profile it might kick up a few lunkers.
  4. I'll sometimes add a flourescent orange bead between my bullet weight and hook on my Texas rigs. It seems really effective at times. Should I use glass beads though? Or does it make much of a difference?
  5. Where do you buy Megastrike?? I've seen it mentioned in a few posts in this topic but I looked at Bass Pro's website and they don't seem to carry it.
  6. Has anyone else purchased this rod and/or reel? I've used it for a few months now and I think it's great, and it handles 6lb test quite well. My only issue is with the cork handles on the rod. They begin to wear after a few fishing trips.
  7. I have several 4/0 Eagle Claw baitholer style hooks with a long shank and a wire weedguard built in. What exactly would these be used for? Thanks.
  8. If anyone has any advice or wants to share tips and tactics about channel catfish, please feel free to post! Thanks. My personal best Channel for the record was about 8-9 lbs !
  9. UPDATE: Just got back from the lake, went fishing with a friend. Only caught a green sunny and a small crappie on live minnows, but caught a 1 3/4 in baby bluegill. Put him in my 10 gallon, hopefully he'll adjust. I really prefer native aquariums over these "mainstream" ones that most people have with goldfish and tropical fish. It's so much cooler to observe the fish that came from your own back yard so to speak.
  10. I'm not sure. I wouldn't, at least. A carp is in the same family as the goldfish, and they're not necessarily the "cleanest" fish around !
  11. Wow thanks so much for answering a question I've always wondered about! So THAT'S what "Better than Salt" means!!! Their baits are quite durable. Like others have said, people who have had a Fluke get torn up seem to still do excellent on them.
  12. I've never thought of changing out the hooks to a larger size. and the F05 model IS great for catching whatever will bite. There's a pond I go to with a lot of decent bluegills, and during the spawn each summer month, they love hitting any miniature bait. Catching a 8-10 inch bluegill on an ultralight is always something fun! I'll have to try the F05 out and let ya'll know just how good it works!
  13. I've heard about that lake!I bet it's some good fishin!
  14. Yeah I've heard they're really effective. I prefer the Kahle style of hooks. They're more for me because I like to set the hook as soon as I see the line running or feel the bite. With circles, I just don't know if I'd have the patience to let the fish set itself
  15. Yeah me and a friend are going down to the lake later tonight. We'll probably catch some mosquitofish (minnows) from the lake and use those on size 2 Eagle Claw red crappie hooks, under a slip float. The best thing about that is you could catch ANYTHING with this setup!
  16. Yeah that may be a good idea! Or just use sponge hooks. i have a few packs of Magic Bait's sponge trebles, they seem really sharp and effective. I also have some of their bait dipper trebs with the tube AND a sponge on the hook. I make the cats so angry with those !
  17. What kind of hooks do ya'll use with the Flukes?? I like to use either a 3/0 or 4/0 Eagle Claw lazer sharp offset worm hook, or Gamakatsus or Owners. Just curious. Also, anyone add a small split shot about a foot above the bait??
  18. Yeah, dipbait or punchbait are great ways to go! They're really effective. I think I might just have to go catfishing soon . Do you have any tips on a small private lake that I've never caught catfish from?? There has been a confirmed 40 lber caught out of there by one of the residents, and that same resident claimed to have had a 90 lber on his line! Any tips on where to locate them? Thanks!
  19. I think that a great starter would be a popper! You could carve out the basic shape, add the trebles, and then cast it out and look for any flaws in the way it functions and then go from there on how to modify it or how much you should shave or sand from each side. Poppers are exciting to use and they're also a pretty simple concept to master. just make sure it floats, pops, and floats upright. The possibilities are endless. Good luck!
  20. Does anyone here have an aquarium or aquariums? If so what size, and what is your setup, like species, plants, etc. I currently have two 10 Gals set up in a native scenario. One has a pet crawfish and the other has a blind bluegill (he went blind right after I got him, I'm not totally sure why) . And I plan on getting a 75 in the near future. Probably just gonna stock it with either crappies or bluegills, or some other form of panfish. Largemouth Bass, while they're amazing and beautiful to look at, putting them in anything below 200 gallons is just torture to a fish which requires so much room and freedom. Anyways, please share your thoughts and let me know what you think!
  21. That switch is called the anti-reverse switch, and I don't even know what it's purpose is actually. I mean, the reel has to have an anti-reserve feature, but it's not very "anti" when there's an option to turn it off, which could doom you if a fish hits and you're not prepared. Best advice is to keep the switch on so it doesn't spin and you should be good!
  22. The ones I use are #s 5 and 7, so they're a little more manageable on my UL
  23. I'm really wanting to join a bass club, and if anyone has any info on a club in my area, please let me know! Thanks!
  24. The Panhandle, not too far from Alabama. Do you fish around these parts??
  25. Nonetheless, nice catch! That's a pretty decent-sized bluegill. Always fun on the ultralight at that size !
