Ken and Matt, it seems it may not have been Perry in the picture. I guess this means the record is not legit, I sure hope some one steps up and breakd the fake record soon. Maybe even with a fake striper. The problem I have with a record that is not legit is the poor soul that breaks it. I do agree with a lot of your selective enforcement. Adding our own standards to the catch of the world recored will keep it elusive until we catch it ourself. And that is an encourging thought is it not? But the mother of all battles has got to be the ones demanding that Perry be in the picture while supporting the Weakly Bass when Weakly is NOT? Read the old post, it's like the enquire! So... If Perry was in the picture I still do not think that would make everyone happy. You cannot catch a WR bass 75 years ago and expect everyone to believe it. We just said Weakly made no mistakes and turned around and said OUTLOUD PERRY IS NOT IN THE PICTURE. Was Weakly? Excuse me while I set the hook!. You can snag one in 2006 and NOT have your picture with it you are good to go. But really, check out the size of that Georgia Bass, I know it Georgia because it has a Georgia dorsal fin. I always try to try a new bait when I am fun fishing. However, when I am fishing in a tournament I usualy stick to what I have confidence in.

I lived in most of my life Georgia, Spinner Baits was the GO GET THEM bait, it is all we used in middle Georgia. Now I am in th pan handle of Florida and for 3 years I have only caught 2 fish on a spinner bait. My GO GET THEM baits are plastic creatures and worms. Funny thing about it is that there are people here in the pan handle that swear by them.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I read that Perry's scale was not his own, but belonged to the general store manager in Helena (a notiery) who used it for postage. There is no mention on where the fish was hooked. Uh oh!

The record will have to be broken, not discarded. I really do not think that anyone would want to discard it. Bash it and throw doubt on it yes, just like some will do to the next WR. But to discard it would only bring the weight down to a more attainable goal, I really don't think anyone would want that.

Sure I would like to see a pic of perry's fish, no such luck though. It is still the one to beat and I know it will be beat real soon, however they will still be the nay sayers, there always will be.

If matters little, cause it is the world record. I do not think that show and telling all the nay sayers is part of the rules, thank goodness, because then there would not be a WR.

I think that pitching is what really does it to me, I mostly fish with a baitcaster, but I also use a spinning reel, actually I am the only one if my club that does. I can pitch it with extreme accuarcy, my club members think it is a real big deal, they have numerous names and phrases for me, "Playing pool with a fairy wand" If one get's hung up, they will jokingly ask me to pitch to the spot and unhang them. They make a big deal out of it but that's just because they do not use them. At any rate, the muscles on my right side, about mid ways, this is the side that I use to pitch. It got so bad last tournament that, I had to start casting it over hand, which I lose my accuracy. I think that stretching may be the answer, plus learning to pith with my left hand would also help.

Perry's bass would have to be accepted as the WR by anyone that is willing to accept it broken. Like Rattletrap posted, it is our guideline, not just ours, it's your's too. So when a fish breaks the world's record, that broken record will be 22.4, slice it or dice it anyway you like. It sounds silly for some guys to say that the 22.4 record could be broken in california only to turn around and say that the 22.4 record is not legit. Politics in Bass fishing? What next?
