  1. I redid all the plywood and carpet in my Bass Tracker a few years ago, not something I'd want to do again. Good luck!
  2. For the most part flooding makes for pretty tough fishing, but not impossible. Two more areas to key on would be old shorelines, (where the normal water level was pre-flood), and flooded grass lawns if there are any on the lake you're fishing.
  3. That's disappointing to hear.
  4. If I was consistently getting followers like that, I'd consider throwing a double fluke rig too.
  5. What does the owners manual say to use? Can't go wrong by following the manual.
  6. You should get more fish than that out of it easily. Bending them back and tuning them to run right again just takes a little practice.
  7. Turkey or Chicken sandwich, bag of chips. Those Ozark Trail coolers at WalMart are solid too, I've got one and like it.
  8. Thanks for the kinds words everyone! Had my third trip out in it earlier today, so far so good. I was pretty anxious the first couple trips, but I'm quickly getting confidence in it now. I think I got a pretty good boat. Still not great pics, but here's a few more: It's in nice shape for a 13 year old boat, the seller was the second owner, he figured it probably had under 100 hours on it. It's been garage kept it's whole life too. I've already gotten a lot of compliments when I'm at a gas station, or at a ramp with it. I wasn't expecting that.
  9. Thanks for the tip, I think I'll pick one up then. I don't like the saver that came with mine anyway. Thanks! I know that isn't a great pic, just haven't had time to get more pictures yet.
  10. Thanks Tom! My current transom saver uses the trailer roller. What are the advantages of the other style of saver?
  11. Thanks guys! I was glad to find a nice older Skeeter that didn't break the bank. You don't see them very much in my neck of the woods, this is Ranger country. It's nice to have something a little different, plus I've always liked Yamahas, I've owned a few of their ATVs trough the years and they were always rock solid reliable.
  12. Hey at least you caught a few. Spotted Bass are feisty little dudes, they are fun, it's too bad they just don't get very big around here. No doubt you'll do better if you are able to go back in Spring.
  13. Well it's been a few days, did you leave any Bass there for the rest of us?
  14. I've been fishing out of an old 16' Bass Tracker for years now, she's served me well, (in fact, I'll be keeping it) but I've been wanting to try out a glass boat for a while now. So, after combing through the craigslist adds and facebook for a couple months, I came across a pretty nice 2004 Skeeter TZX 190 and ending up taking her home: Got my first trip out in it yesterday, ran like a top. Way different to drive than a Tracker! After a little porpoising, then swamping the back after slowing down, I started to get the hang of driving it pretty quick. So far, I'm very happy with it.
  15. Great reels, but probably not a good choice for what you'll be throwing. I'd also recommend that you take a look at a Tatula SV.
  16. September and October are always tough around here.
  17. The playoffs are finally here. I love playoff baseball, it's a totally different atmosphere.
  18. Hopefully someone who knows Center Hill will chime in, I've never fished there, but I know some of the other highland reservoirs in that general area pretty well. I'd expect water temps to be upper 70s, maybe low 80s. It's that tricky transition time here now where Bass are spread out, and hard to predict. Topwater is pretty good on these type reservoirs right now, and this is also that time of year when Bass pull up shallow on the flats. So don't overlook those ugly flat banks with nothing on them, those are the kind of banks that have been my best producers the last couple trips out. Good luck!

Nice! 21.5" with kind of girth has got to go 6 lbs easy.
  20. Very up and down time of year for me. Skunked on Cherokee a couple weeks ago. Went to Norris yesterday expecting another bad trip, ended up getting several solid fish tossing a 3/4oz football jig on bluffs, and steep channel swing banks with laydowns. Pulled up a good fish on a flat late in the evening with a buzzbait too.
  21. Buzzbait by a pretty wide margin. Which has been great because I love to throw buzzbaits.
