  1. It's not a dumb question but you should always take your lures off when you are done fishing. I always cut everything off and place them back in the tackle boxes. Sometimes coming back from night fishing I can get a little lazy but before I go out I will retie everything. I 'm just guessing but you aren't using a boat just shore fishing so at the most how many rods are we talking about? 2 , 3 at the most take you less than 1 minute
  2. Best time I found is at night , lol instead of getting up early before sun rise that would be about the time I would be getting home if all I planned to do was top water fish. Maybe it varies from area and lakes you are fishing but I have always found the best top water action on darkest nights .
  3. Seriously you can't fish a swim jig wrong. You can slow it down you can rip it you can hop it and let it sink. As to the trailer you can use any soft plastic.
  4. Everything mentioned above just don't use any expensive cranks that dive deep.
  5. When it's hot like now it's pretty much the only fishing I do. Night time fishing is a little strange with the feeding cycles. When it starts it's like someone turned on a switch and it can last a hour or less. Then it just slows down and a few hours later it can start up again. And it's not necessarily always a couple of hours before dawn or for that matter an hour afterdark. You just have to be on the water when it happens , you'll know it when it does. The fish will tell you what to use but I will use anything from a wacky rigged senko to a black spinner , a jig or some top water lure This time of year it will be the most productive time to fish. As the weather and water starts to cool then you can get back into your daytime habits of fishing. PS if you do use any soft plastics make sure you dip them in scent first.
  6. lol no kidding ? I use pretty much everything in my tackle boxes but my go to is always senkos. My fishing buddy tonight sounds a little like you , he's not a big worm fisherman.
  7. Just got back from night fishing and used top water , spinnerbait and a crank. Wacky rigged senko dipped in JJ's magic and it out fished everything else.
  8. night time fishing , try it not sun down but night time
  9. Is this the small bridge on Ashland pond?
  10. Question is why use a spinning reel when a bait caster works better for pitching and flipping ? Why make it harder on your self
  11. Sometimes a back lash can happen but I wouldn't spend a hour trying to fix it. I pickup another rod and continue fishing. The reel can be fixed when I get home.
  12. I still have mine on a motor stand in the basement, used it for a couple of years on my canoe. I don't use it anymore but the motor still runs strong.
  13. Close to 5 pounds Could be a shy under but not by much.
  14. Close to 40 feet but I wasn't fishing for bass. Using a bottom bouncer with live night crawler.
  15. It looks pretty and big enough on the showroom floor but it feels small on the water. These boats sell on craigslist for 3 or 4 grand all day long. This is not my boat but just quick check in my area . I would look at something like this for close to the same price as a new tracker 16 This is if you are set on buying an aluminum boat. http://newlondon.craigslist.org/boa/3905793444.html
  16. Spinnerbaits? You got to be doing something wrong if you aren't catching bass on a spinner. Fishing deep works if you can find the fish, deep diving cranks , Carolina rig or dropshot Can't comment too much about fall fishing since I bow hunting during that time . I agree with your comment about frog fishing , if I miss the strike I very rarely catch it with a wacky or another type bait. Your comment on fishing points , I started using my electronics more so if I don't see fish I rarely bother just casting blindly . All though I will work the shore line but when it comes to deep water I trust my sonar to find fish. I also hate fishing in wind , a breeze is fine.
  17. Make sure you check the lower unit , make sure the prop shaft is straight , Make sure there's no water in the lower unit. If he just replaced the oil you won't be able to tell unless the boat is run.
  18. It really depends on the motor . 2 grand is pretty cheap unless it needs a lot of motor work. If it does stay clear of it unless you either have budgeted for a lot of headaches and a lot of repair bills. Marine mechanics don't come cheap when they start tearing down a motor.
  19. When I fished from a canoe I bought some but found it they really weren't needed if you buy the right canoe. I bought an old town discovery square stern 17 foot. That thing was stable enough to walk around in it. Had a 5 HP on the back with a side mounted trolling motor.
  20. For sure Slick ramps can happen anywhere , I live in New England so for me it has always been an easy choice.
  21. I have a Silverado 4x4 and have had to use it a few times on some ramps. This is always my answer to anyone thinking of buying a truck and can't decide on a 2 wheel drive or a four wheel drive. I have known many , many truck owners over the years and the one thing I have never heard in my entire life come out of someone's mouth is..............I wish I had bought a 2 wheel drive instead of a 4 wheel drive... but I have heard on more than one occasion a truck owner say............. I wish I had bought a 4 wheel drive instead of a 2 wheel drive. Something to think about...
  22. I live in New England also , I bought a sit in side but am also considering buying another kayak for summer months. This would be a SOT , do you fish out of your SOT during the spring and fall when water temps are in the 50's and 60 's ? If so how do you stay warm ? wet suit I tried my friends SOT and really liked the open feeling but he only fishes out of it the summer months when water temps are in the 70 's or even 80's
  23. There's a lot of guys on here that kayak fish and I'm sure will offer some good advice. The one thing I know for sure with me was I wanted a sit inside with a large cockpit. I know I'll be using mine in the fall when the water gets colder and a sit on top would be too wet I think.
  24. Couldn't have posted this at a better time .I'm going to Dicks tomorrow to buy or order the field and stream eagle run 12 foot They have them on sale for $350.00. Don't know a thing about them or have ever been in one but I also want to get into kayak fishing Only thing I can say is most guys I know that own a boat and a fishing kayak , the kayak seems to get used more than the boat. I know my self there's many times I don't feel like trailering and launching my boat for just 2 or 3 of hours of fishing. I think I will end using this kayak a lot , throw it in the back of my truck and be in the water in no time.
  25. I'm casting and slowly working it back to the boat. It was a choppy day so my boat was moving a lot . Vertical fishing would have been pretty hard unless I anchored , fishing out of an 14 foot grizzly. I waited until I felt the bite or saw my line move like wacky rigging. It was tough though to tell on a couple of the bites. Maybe I waited too long before reeling.
